Türkiye Fiziksel Tip ve Rehabilitasyon Dergisi , 2013, DOI: 10.4274/tftr.59489
Abstract: Objective: To compare the demographic and some of the clinical characteristics, and functional outcomes of patients with anterior circulation (AC) infarction with posterior circulation (PC) infarction subtype of ischemic stroke patients after inpatient rehabilitation.Materials and Methods: Medical records of 245 patients diagnosed with stroke were retrospectively reviewed. The patients, who had AC or PC ischemic infarct, were divided into two subgroups. Demographic characteristics, Functional Independence Measure (FIM) scores, and Functional Ambulation Scale (FAS) stages of the patients in both groups were recorded and compared. Results: One hundred eight patients’ infarcts were located in the AC territory and twenty two patients’ infarcts were located in the PC territory. Except the longer length of stay in AC stroke groups (p=0.022); there were no significant differences between the two groups in demographic and clinical characteristics (p>0.05). The comparison of the FIM scores revealed that the AC stroke group had significantly lower cognitive FIM scores at admission and discharge than the PC stroke group (p=0.016 and p=0.029, respectively). However; there were no statistically significant differences between the groups in terms of motor FIM scores, gain FIM scores and FAS stages at admission and discharge (p>0.05).Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, although patients with AC infarction subtype of ischemic stroke had longer length of stay and lower cognitive FIM scores, there were no significant differences in functional outcomes between patients with AC and PC infarction subtype of ischemic stroke. Structural and Spectral (IR, NMR and UV/Visible) Properties of Newly Designed Boronic Acid Derivatives Containing DO3A Sensitive to Uranyl Ion: A DFT and TD-DFT Study  [PDF]
Kübra Sarikavak, Fatma Sevin
Computational Chemistry (CC) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/cc.2017.54012
Abstract:
In this study, the structural, electronic and optical properties of DO3A-based boronic acid derivates with and without UO22+ ion are studied by density functional calculations with M062X/6 - 31 g + (d) method, in aqueous media. The quantum chemical properties such as EHOMO, ELUMO, the energy gap (ΔE), chemical potential (μ), hardness (η) are also performed. The theoretical essential UV-Vis. bands of DO3A-UO2(VI)-APB-o are at 392 and 687 nm. DO3A-UO2 (VI)-ABB-o structure has two main bands at 393 and 650 nm. In general, the bathochromic shift occurs and the HOMO-LUMO energy gap decreases to about 2 eV, by binding UO22+ ion in three different media. The notable shifts in NMR spectrums have been found on α-carbon of carbonyl group, ring carbons and amide protons. In IR-spectrums, the prominent peaks belong to BO-H and N-H of amide stretching vibrations of calculated structures.
Klasik Liberalizmde “ zgürlük” ve Liberalizmin Yerel Y netimlere Bak

Abstract: In a contemporary sense, freedom that is being put forward here within the context of an individual’s “autonomy” can bedescribed in classical liberalism as an individual’s desire to be free from all manner of intervention and obstacles. Freedom withinthe framework of classical liberalism appeared as a feature distinct from other school of thoughts and along with the individualhas been the most important liberal argument that has been put forward by this school. This concept has been debated adinfinitum starting from Locke to the present as an important area of liberalism. In general, political freedoms considered throughthe recurrence method is thought of as one of the most important questions in classical liberalism. Evaluating this question isimportant in reaching “concrete” results within the context of classical liberalism. In considering political freedoms, the question of freedom from the point of local authorities and within the context of therights of local and small communities has been constantly debated within liberalism. In particular, the classical liberal thinkersknown as the Utilitarians, within the “greatest happiness,” principle developed important arguments, in particular on activities thattook place at the local level. The common point in their view was services provided to individuals by units closest to thembecause they comprised subjects that are the most “pleasurable” to individuals and therefore are the most important activities thatthey will seek. However, many liberal thinkers that defend the view that only through this way can local freedoms, localdemocracy and political participation can be meaningful, consider that “concrete” conclusions can be reached only as a result ofevaluating the debates centered around liberalism’s view on freedom. At this point Jeremy Bentham and J.S. Mill’s thoughts are at the forefront and can be seen to have had a significant impact inthe context of various theories of freedom developed during the 20th century. Although most of Tocqueville’s views departedfrom the Utilitarians his findings on the United States of America showed that services and activities in a federal system that arelocalized has brought to the agenda its importance in terms of liberal emancipation and that the functions of local authorities interms of freedoms can be debated in the name of expanding “citizenship.”Concepts such as freedom, democracy, self-government, activism and participation appear to us where liberalism and localauthorities intersect. At this point the subject that liberal thinkers insist upon is that the provisi

Abstract: Literary style can show variaties in different writing styles and also in the same writing styles . Commentaries although their limits are more explicit explicandum comparing other styles can show variability regarding to glassator. In the era of Turkey Turkish there were written suras, translations of Quran and commentaries. The guiding spirit of these commentaries seem as the commentary of Ebu’l-Leys esSemerkand . In our study Uveys bin Hoca Osman’s Commentary of Amme Part which was written at that time will be examined with readings of other commentaries which were blonged to the evolving era as a translation of commentary of Semerkand . At the end of this examination there will be tried to show writing style features and differences of Uveys and his contributions to commentary statements. In this regard there will be semtinized what the writer can add to the writing style of the commentary personally apart from the lingo of Quran and for which reason the writer might does that üsl p, farkl yaz türlerinde de i mekle birlikte ayn yaz türü i inde de de i ebilir. Trakya Universitesi Tip Fakultesi Dergisi , 2008,
Abstract: Inflammatory fibroid polyp is a rare benign lesion that most frequently originates from the gastric antrum, but can also be seen in any part of the gastrointestinal tract. Differential diagnosis includes gastrointestinal polyps and polypoid stromal tumors due to their polypoid appearance on gross examination, and microscopically, various malignant and benign stromal tumors, primarily gastrointestinal stromal tumors. We presented a 51-year-old female patient who was referred to our center with a diagnosis of adenocarcinoma made after an endoscopic biopsy, but found to have an inflammatory fibroid polyp located in the antrum after distal subtotal gastrectomy.
Inflammatory pseudotumor of the spleen: A case report

Türk Patoloji Dergisi , 2008,
Abstract: Inflammatory pseudotumors, also known as inflammatory miyofibroblastic tumors, are rare benign tumors of the spleen. The diagnosis of these tumors may be difficult, because they simulate some hematopoetic malignancies, leiomyosarcomas, inflammatory malignant fibrous histiocytoma and inflammatory fibrosclerosing lesions. They frequently occur at lung. But they are reported at gastrointestinal system, orbit, liver, bladder, lymph nodes, heart, brain, mesentery, omentum and spleen. Histologically they are composed of an admixture of cells like lymphocytes, plasma cells, foamy histiocytes, neutrophils and eosinophils with fibrosis, sclerosis and plump fibroblasts. Immunohistochemical stains show diffuse staining of tumor cells with vimentin and less common with myogenic markers like smooth muscle actin, muscle specific actin and desmin. CD 68 and focal cytokeratin immunoreactivity are found. We present a case of 53 year old female. Laboratory investigations were normal. Abdominal ultrasonography showed a heterogenous, hypoechoic nodular mass measuring 30x27 mm in the superior portion of the spleen parenchyma. Splenectomy was performed. Histologically the lesion was composed of inflammatory cells and miyofibroblasts. The case was diagnosed as inflammatory pseudotumor (Inflammatory miyofibroblastic tumor) with histological and immunohistochemical findings.

Is juvenile boot camp policy effective
Kübra Gültekin,Sebahattin Gültekin
International Journal of Human Sciences , 2012,
Abstract: Militaristic boot camps became very popular in the U.S. in the early 1990’s as an alternative to traditional prisons and probation. Less recidivism and less cost were the shibboleths of correctional boot camps. The boot camps are believed to reduce the number of repeat offenders and to lower operational costs. The rehabilitation programs and aftercare activities are thought to bring ongoing changes in inmates’ behaviors. Therefore, boot camps are strongly supported by politicians and the public. Tax dollars are spent to operate the boot camps. However, despite the fact that only two decades have passed since the existence of juvenile boot camps, numerous studies have declared that juvenile boot camp prisons are ineffective in reducing future offenses of inmates, operational costs, and in continually changing the behaviors of young offenders.
