Analysis of Impact of Culture Shock on Individual Psychology

Abstract: In recent years, international communication has become a common phenomenon because of the trend of globalization. This makes culture shock start to be experienced by more people and causes growing concern. This project takes the negative effects of culture shock into account and pays attention to how to minimize psychological discomfort when entering new cultural patterns. First of all, the main reason and the negative impact of culture shock are given. Next, it describes a number of solutions and evaluates the effectiveness of them. Finally, this paper justifies the preferred choice of solution, and then noticeable points are emphasized. Considering that character and disposition may be various among different people, it is found that in order to attain satisfactory results, choosing appropriate methods and reducing psychological stress to the controllable level are very important. This may be helpful for people who are experiencing culture shock to keep a healthy psychology.
Catalysis of organic pollutant photodegradation by metal phthalocyanines immobilized on TiO2@SiO2

Abstract: A TiO2@SiO2 hybrid support was prepared by the sol-precipitation method using n-octylamine as a template. The photocatalyst manganese phthalocyanine tetrasulfonic acid (MnPcS) was immobilized on the support to form MnPcS-TiO2@SiO2. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-Visible diffuse reflectance spectra (UV-Vis DRS) were employed to characterize the catalyst. The photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) and the catalytic oxidation of o-phenylenediamine (OPDA) under visible light irradiation were used as probe reactions. The mineralization efficiency and the degradation mechanism were evaluated using chemical oxygen demand (CODCr) assays and electron spin resonance (ESR), respectively. RhB was efficiently degraded by immobilized MnPcS-TiO2@SiO2 under visible light irradiation. Complete decolorization of RhB occurred after 240 min of irradiation and 64.02% CODCr removal occurred after 24 h of irradiation. ESR results indicated that the oxidation process was dominated by the hydroxyl radical (·OH) and superoxide radical (O 2 · ) generated in the system.

Abstract: Cluster projects are projects of large-scale or with huge investment, such as Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and Shanghai 2010 Expo. A lot of on-site management works are involved in the process of cluster project management, especially the treatment of sudden accidents which would produce plenty of knowledge and experience. As cluster project on-site management spots change frequently, knowledge produced by mobile workers in the process of on-site management is hard to be saved into the knowledge repository on time. It may cause a knowledge distortion or even missing. On the other hand, in the process of cluster project management, a lot of knowledge is required by on-site workers to deal with on-site activities. However, due to lack of effective mechanisms for knowledge communion, they often face the risk of making wrong decisions. To solve the problems of knowledge management and acquisition in the process of cluster project on-site management, this paper presents a system model for mobile knowledge service.

Abstract: I tried to present a new method to prevent collusion through employing two auditors at the same time and inspiring them provide true report by exploiting their prisoner’s dilemma. But I found this method cannot be put into practice because of the high cost. So I analyzed whether sending the second auditor in a probability, a low cost method, can deter the audit collusion. I find sending the second auditor in a probability, enforcing the rigidly lawful punishment and perfecting the reward mechanism can prevent audit collusion. I also find the auditor’s ethical constraint do good to prevent collusion and the charger of state assets management can play the same role as the real owner of the state-owned enterprise in deterring collusion. This finding provides theory support for the government to implement the publicly audit bidding and random double auditing system on state-owned enterprise. The supervision of PCAOB on auditors is also the operation of this theory.
Using Insulation in China’s Buildings: Potential for Significant Energy Savings and Carbon Emission Reductions  [PDF]

Abstract: Most old residential and commercial buildings in China are not insulated or not to new standards. This is true even in regions with very cold winters or regions with very hot summers. The insulation in new buildings is very poor relative to North American standards. However, insulating the exterior walls, attic roofs, and foundation walls to new standards of buildings in China would reduce the need for heating and air conditioning, and thus would save roughly 200 million tons of coal each year. This in turn would lead to a reduction in CO2 emissions of about 510 million tons per year, which is equal to about 8.4% of China’s total carbon emissions in 2006. The use of insulation in buildings will help homeowners save money, help China save energy and help the environment all at the same time. Insulation will provide a continued payback to the homeowner, not only in dollars and cents, but also by providing a more enjoyable and comfortable living environment for many years.

Abstract: The demand of the talents in petroleum engineering of petroleum enterprises is analyzed in this paper according the current situation of the engineering education. The four levels of the professional talents needed by the petroleum enterprises are specified, which makes it clear that what the purpose and orientation of the higher education in petroleum engineering should be. The qualities of the petroleum engineers are discussed specifically and it is pointed out that the training of the postgraduate for professional degree in oil and gas engineering should be the cradle of the petroleum engineers. A training schedule is listed in this paper based on the discussion, including curriculum provision, practice link, thesis and training mode, which will be a pathfinder of the education of the professional degree graduate student in oil and gas engineering. Moreover, the practice can provide useful experience for the training and education of different type of graduates.

Abstract:

The present review analyzes experimental research on implicit learning using linguistic stimuli, and proposes five key procedures of a framework for empirical studies of implicit learning. Our review begins with a brief overview of the current state of research on implicit learning, and then presents the procedures in detail: 1) choosing theoretical assumptions from psychology; 2) designing stimuli; 3) exposing subjects to information; 4) testing implicit learning; and 5) measuring subjects’ state of awareness. This framework is intended to assist researchers in designing experiments on implicit learning both more comprehensively and with fewer flaws.

Investment Value Evaluation of Hi-Tech Industry: Based on Multi-Factor Dynamic Model  [PDF]

Abstract: By constructing a multi-factor dynamic model based on the theory of the lifecycle with China’s A-share data from 2007 to 2013, we analysis the factors affect the investment value and risk of hi-tech industry and their mechanism of action. After the regression, we can draw conclusions: Firstly, hi-tech industries in China are mostly in the growth stage and maturity stage. Investment value of the industries in the growth stage are mostly influenced by market premium factor, market factor, P/E ratio factor and R & D density factor, while hi-tech industries in maturity stage are mainly affected by the market premium factor, market factor, P/E ratio factor. Secondly, dynamic multi-factor model can measure the investment value of hi-tech industries adequately. The conclusions give a reference for investors on how to make investment plan on the stocks of hi-tech enterprises, and provide some policy recommendations on the way promoting hi-tech enterprises to enhance their core technology as well.
