Thermomagnetic Convection of Magnetic Fluid in an Annular Space under a Non-Uniform Magnetic and Thermal Field  [PDF]

Abstract: Two-dimensional thermomagnetic convection of magnetic fluid possessing internal spin and relaxation of magnetization with high thermal sensitivity is numerically analyzed under a non-uniform magnetic and thermal field, using a spectral difference scheme, magnetic fluid is assumed to be placed between concentric cylinders, an azimuthal magnetic field being produced by an electric current though the inner cylinder, which is an adiabatic wall, whereas a half of the outer cylinder is kept at a high constant temperature and the rest half is at a lower constant temperature. As a result, in case of T × |H| ≠ 0, thermomagnetic convection is found to be produced, the convection pattern depends on electric current distribution, depending on which multiple or single circulation is produced, thus, it shows that thermomagnetic convection pattern is controlled by changing relative direction of temperature gradient to that of a magnetic field.
A Scalable Model of the Substrate Network in Deep n-Well RF MOSFETs with Multiple Fingers  [PDF]

Abstract: A novel scalable model of substrate components for deep n-well (DNW) RF MOSFETs with different number of fingers is presented for the first time. The test structure developed in [1] is employed to directly access the characteristics of the substrate to extract the different substrate components. A methodology is developed to directly extract the parameters for the substrate network from the measured data. By using the measured two-port data of a set of nMOSFETs with different number of fingers, with the DNW in grounded and float configuration, respectively, the parameters of the scalable substrate model are obtained. The method and the substrate model are further verified and validated by matching the measured and simulated output admittances. Excellent agreement up to 40 GHz for configurations in common-source has been achieved.

Abstract: For RFID tags, a Novel Tag Anti-collision Algorithm with Grouping (TAAG) is proposed. It divides tags into groups and adopts a deterministic method to identify tags within group. TAAG estimates the total number of tags in systems from group identifying result and then adjusts the grouping method accordingly. The performance of the proposed TAAG algorithm is compared with the conventional tag anti-collision algorithms by simulation experiments. According to both the analysis and simulation result, the proposed algorithm shows better performance in terms of throughput, total slots used to identify and total cycles.
Preparation and Application of an Low-Aluminium Tap Water Flocculant  [PDF]

A kind of environmental friendly novel composite flocculants which are used to treat raw water is prepared. It is made with chitosan (CS), iron modified polyaluminium chloride (CF-PAC) and modified montmorillonite on the principle of “the combination of organic and inorganic”. Under the optimum best compound formula and flocculation process, the turbidity of the waste water reduced by 0.62%, the chemical cost decreased by 12.43% and the content of aluminium ions dropped by 70.65%. There is an excellent characteristic and higher efficiency on the composite flocculant which can adsorb the organic matter in the water and chelate the heavy metal ions in the water.

We prove in this paper that U is non-degenerated in the class of functions possessing regular triangle symmetry. As an application, we show the existence of a family of solutions close to U.

A Method for the Solution of Educational Investment  [PDF]

Abstract: In order to improve the performance of higher education in the United States, the Goodgrant Foundation intends to donate a total of $100,000,000 (US 100 million) to an appropriate group of schools per year, for five years, starting in July 2016. For this, our team puts forward upon an optimal investment strategy, which includes the schools to invest, the investment amount of each school, and the return due to investment, to solve this problem. Our main idea is as follows. First of all, we choose suitable investment school universities in the United States. Secondly, we use Analytic Hierarchy Process to get the rate of return on investment and venture capital. Thirdly, we establish a venture capital return model. Finally, solving the mathematical model ensures the investment amount of each school and the return due to investment. To implement this strategy, first of all, we obtain the candidate school based on students score card. Then, according to the factor analysis, we analyze the factors which mainly affect the choice of school. Secondly, we employ Analytic Hierarchy Process to get the rate of return on investment and capital risk. In the end, we establish a risk return model to get investment amount for each school, amount of risk and return. In order to ensure the minimum risk and the maximum return, we set up a multi objective programming model and solve it by using the constraint method. We get the result that includes the maximum net profit of the investment and risk loss rate. According to statistical analysis, we can get the overall return of net income within five years. Finally, we choose 320 candidate schools and get the investment amount of each school according to the principle of as many schools as possible. We have proved that the foundation will receive a return of more than 295.363 million in the next 5 years. After-verification, our strategy can be directly applied to the investment field and get good results.

Abstract: A new sauropterygian,Anshunsaurus huangguoshuensis, is described on the basis of a well-preserved skull from the Late Triassic Wayao Member of Falang Formation, Guizhou Province, southwestern China. It is ascribed to Eusauroptetrygia because it possesses the following characters: the rostrum is mainly composed by the premaxillae; the nasals are small, paired and separated from one another by the premaxillae; the external nares are close to the orbits; and the frontals are fused.Anshunsaurus differs from other Triassic sauropterygians in its large size, long rostrum and the supratemporal fenestrae slightly smaller than orbits. It is further considered to be closely related toPistosaurus on the basis of the nasals contact with the prefrontals; large pineal foramen, lain in the anterior part of the parietal table; the squamosals not in contact posterior to the supratemporal fenestra. The discovery ofAnshunsaurus with the ichthyosaurs in the same locality indicates a new assemblage of Triassic marine tetrapods in China.

Abstract: Do methods still have a place in 21" century language teaching? To answer this question, an international survey was conducted in the surnmer of 1999. A sample of 800 language teachers world-wide randomly drawn from 17,800 TESOLers were each given a 2-page survey. The return rate was 58.5% with the actual usable data set of448, which was analyzed by using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Among the ten commonly recognized teaching methods surveyed, both the Communicative Language Teaching Approach and an eclectic method seem to have the highest rate in familiarity, preference, and use. But when multiple factors, such as teaching contexts, instructional settings, learners' proficiency levels, class size, teaching experience and educational backgrounds of the teachers, and the status of being a native or nonnative English speaking professional were taken into consideration, various patterns and themes emerged. One interesting finding is that Grammar Translation is still used in EFL contexts, in larger classes, and with learners at low proficiency levels, though the ratio between the actual use of this method and teachers' preference does not match. Based on the results of the survey, a new theoretical framework is proposed to conceptualize language teaching methods in the post-methods era.
