Abstract: the effects on the reproductive and digestive tract and loss of body weight of the brown egg layers submitted to ovarian rest. this research evaluated the application of the ovarian rest (or) on brown egg layers and the effect the age and duration of feed withdrawal have over the reproductive and gastrointestinal tract. 840 hy-line brown ? layers were used at 64 weeks of age in which three ages of induction to the or (65.70 and 75 weeks) and three feed withdrawal periods (five, ten and fifteen days) in a completely randomized statistical model, nested, of balanced and fixed effect. sacrifices were carried out in order to evaluate body weight, weight of the digestive and reproductive tract (ovary and oviduct), follicle percentage with a diameter equal to or higher than ten mm (lyf) and the percentage of the bird's weight loss. the model was significant (p<0.05) for all the variables evaluated; the age presented a significant effect (p<0.05) over the ovary weight and the follicle percentage (lyf), while the duration of the feed withdrawal related to the age had a significant effect (p<0.05) on all the variables, which indicates a greater effect of the feed withdrawal period contrasted to the age of the application of the or upon the variables evaluated. the ovary's weight (age 65:15.87 to ± 15.11; age 70: 7.92b ± 5.46; and age 75: 7.54b ± 4.96) and the follicle percentage (65: 43.75 to ± 21.54; age 70 18.05b ± 8.72 and age 75: 8.33b ± 6.85) showed a lowering tendency as the age increased. this type of behavior is associated with the gradual decrease in the number of follicles and the extended time between the maturation of one follicular wave and the next as the layer ages (kim, donalson, 2006; north, bell, 1990). the weight loss percentages (age 65: 24.24 ± 8.53%; age 70: 20.91 ± 5.50% and age 75: 20.88 ± 7.15%) were low compared to the reports on white egg layers, possibly due to the content of lipidic reserves which offers the brown egg layers the capacity to toler
Vulnerabilidad agroambiental frente al cambio climático. Agendas de adaptación y sistemas institucionales
Pablo Torres Lima,Juan G. Cruz Castillo,Rey Acosta Barradas
REPENSANDO A MARíA ESCLAVISMO, ANTISEMITISMO Y MACHISMO EN LA OBRA DE JORGE ISAACS
Juan Camilo Galeano Sánchez
Ratio Juris , 2011,

Abstract: we investigate the relaxation of two line defects of opposite strength in a confined nematic liquid crystal by solving the coupled tensor order parameter evolution and momentum balance equations in three dimensions. the inclusion of hydrodynamic interactions causes the defects to move at different velocities and slows the overall relaxation process, but this effect is suppressed by increasing the degree of confinement. the most notable flow features that develop in the system are large vortices that surround and follow the defects as they approach each other.
A Note on Price Asymmetry Using a Monetary Model  [PDF]
Pablo L. Schiaffino, Juan Pablo Pinasco
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2014.48088
Abstract: In this paper we present a macroeconomic foundation of downward money price inflexibility based on classical Monetary Economics. We show that under the principle of risk aversion and the neutral money axiom, our model derives an endogenous asymmetric price response as prices adjust more rapidly when they go upward than downward. This asymmetry does not disappear; on the contrary, it is increasing in time.
On Energy-Efficient Time Synchronization for Wireless Sensors under Large-Scale and Small-Scale Fading Effects  [PDF]
Pablo Briff, Ariel Lutenberg, Leonardo Rey Vega, Fabian Vargas
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/wsn.2013.510021
Abstract:

In this work, the existing trade-off between time synchronization quality and energy is studied for both large-scale and small-scale fading wireless channels. We analyze the clock offset estimation problem using one-way, two-way and N-way message exchange mechanisms affected by Gaussian and exponentially distributed impairments. Our main contribution is a general relationship between the total energy required for synchronizing a wireless sensor network and the clock offset estimation error by means of the transmit power, number of transmitted messages and average message delay, deriving the energy optimal lower bound as a function of the time synchronization quality and the number of hops in a multi-hop network.

On the Trade-off between Power Consumption and Time Synchronization Quality for Moving Targets under Large-Scale Fading Effects in Wireless Sensor Networks  [PDF]
Pablo Briff, Leonardo Rey Vega, Ariel Lutenberg, Fabian Vargas
Communications and Network (CN) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/cn.2013.53B2091
Abstract:

In this work we find a lower bound on the energy required for synchronizing moving sensor nodes in a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) affected by large-scale fading, based on clock estimation techniques. The energy required for synchronizing a WSN within a desired estimation error level is specified by both the transmit power and the required number of messages. In this paper we extend our previous work introducing nodes’ movement and the average message delay in the total energy, including a comprehensive analysis on how the distance between nodes impacts on the energy and synchronization quality trade-off under large-scale fading effects.

ANáLISIS DE LA ESTABILIDAD ESPACIO-TEMPORAL DEL MéTODO PETROV-GALERKIN EN CONTRACORRIENTE PARA LA ECUACIONES DE DIFUSIóN-ADVECCIóN

DYNA , 2010,
Abstract: this article analyzes the space and temporal stability of a numerical solution of the diffusion-advection equation through the streamline upwind petrov-galerkin method (supg), along with a backward-euler temporal discretization. in the first part the fundamental concepts of the supg technique for space stabilization in two dimensions, and the temporal discretization considerations are presented. next the methodology and necessary expressions for computer implementation of the method are treated. two cases of study are developed in which the space and temporal stability of the implemented solution are compared with those obtained by means of the conventional bubnov-galerkin approach. the error in the energy norm is used to analyze the stability of the obtained results. videos and additional graphs of the problems in this article can be downloaded from www.gnum.unal.edu.co.

DYNA , 2010,
