Imágenes con tensor de difusión en resonancia magnética

Abstract: diffusion-tensor is a recently developed form of diffusion-weighted mri that enables the assessment of water directionality in living systems and indirect information about the integrity of white matter structures. diffusion is anisotropic in white matter tracts, as axonal membranes and myelin sheaths present barriers to the motion of water molecules; the direction of maximun diffusivity is contained in the diffusion tensor (dt). dt tractograms are the three-dimensional space representation of the tensor-diffusion images. the direction of maximun diffusivity may be mapped by using red, green, and blue colour channels with colour brightness, resulting in a map from wich the degree of anisotropy and the local fiber direction can be determined. red color indicates left-right direction as corpus callosum tracts; green color indicates anteroposterior direction, and blue color indicates superior-inferior direction as piramidal tracts. the initial clinical experience showed that diffusion tensor is a potentially useful imaging modality for both diagnosing and assessing patients with stroke, multiple sclerosis, diffuse axonal injuries, schizophrenia and particularly brain tumors.

Abstract: Las imágenes con tensor de difusión (ITD) constituyen un método relativamente nuevo de resonancia magnética (IRM) que permite cuantificar el grado de anisotropía de los protones de agua en los tejidos. La anisotropía es la propiedad del tejido cerebral normal que depende de la direccionalidad de las moléculas del agua y de la integridad de las fibras de sustancia blanca. La tractografia es la representación 3D de ITD y se puede graficar por medio de un mapa de color obtenido a partir de la direccionalidad del desplazamiento de las moléculas del agua a lo largo de los tractos de sustancia blanca, y en los tres ejes del espacio : ¨x¨ derecha-izquierda, ¨y¨ antero-posterior y ¨z¨ rostro-caudal. Por convención los tractos del eje ¨x¨ o comisurales aparecen en color rojo, como por ejemplo las fibras callosas. Los tractos del eje ¨y¨ que representan fibras de conexión interlobares tienen tonalidad verde; y finalmente los tractos del eje ¨z¨ son los azules; por ejemplo el haz piramidal. Las primeras experiencias realizadas con ITD han despertado interés y expectativas sobre su utilidad diagnóstica y pronóstica en el accidente cerebrovascular, la esclerosis en placas, la injuria axonal difusa, asi como tambien en ciertas enfemedades mentales, y particularmente en el estudio de los tumores cerebrales. Abstract: the aim of this manuscript is to clarify the acronym sciwora among the medical community, and to highlight the importance of magnetic resonance imaging (mri) as a sensitive tool for the diagnosis of this condition. sciwora is characterized by spinal cord injury, with normal radiology. it can only be diagnosed by mri, although there is some controversy on this concept. it only occurs in children under 8 years of age, with an incidence ranging between 3.3% and 32%, which depends on age of the patient, degree of complexity of the health center and especially the access to mri. traumatic spinal cord injuries are rarely found in children, and account for 5% of all spinal lesions. in children, the presence of sciwora is associated with the anatomical and biomechanical characteristics of the spine.

Abstract: hydatidosis of bone is rare, accounting for only 0.5-4 % of cases in this topography. is characterized by an insidious progression and a very large latency, therefore the disease being diagnosed at an advanced stage. this is the report of a case of the femur hydatidosis, in a 62- year-old man farmer, with pathological fracture, caused by a traffic accident. radiographic findings suggest malignancy. laboratory studies and a partial punction of femur were made with results for hydatidosis.

Abstract: Se presenta a un paciente de sexo femenino de 27 a os de edad con el cuadro clásico de Síndrome de Mc Cune- Albright, caracterizado por: pubertad precoz, manchas color café con leche, displasia fibrosa poliostótica y gigantismo. Se describen los hallazgos en Resonancia Magnética de la región craneofacial y del raquis. We report on a 27-year-old female with the classical McCune-Albright syndrome. Abstract: El objetivo del presente trabajo es difundir en la comunidad médica el acrónimo SCIWORA y destacar la importancia de la Resonancia Magnética (RM) como herramienta sensible para su diagnóstico. Esta entidad se caracteriza por una lesión traumática de la médula espinal, en ausencia de anormalidad radiológicamente demostrable. Es única en ni os, generalmente en menores de 8 a os, con una incidencia estimada en 3,3% y 32 %. Esta brecha estadística se explica, en parte, por la edad de los grupos, el sitio donde reciben atención médica y particularmente por el acceso a la RM. Las lesiones medulares traumáticas son infrecuentes en la edad pediátrica y presentan el 5 % de todas las lesiones del raquis. La existencia de SCIWORA se explica por las condiciones anatómicas y biomecánicas del raquis en ni os de esta edad. Abstract: La hidatidosis ósea es rara, representando el 0,5- 4% del total de localizaciones y se caracteriza por un curso insidioso con un largo periodo de latencia, diagnosticándose en estadios muy avanzados. Se presenta un caso de hidatidosis del fémur con extensión extraósea en un varón de 62 a os de edad, agricultor, con fractura patológica, en ocasión de un accidente vial, siendo los hallazgos radiológicos sugestivos de malignidad. Se efectuó laboratorio y exéresis parcial del fémur, que permitió el diagnóstico de hidatidosis ósea. Hydatidosis of bone is rare, accounting for only 0.5-4 % of cases in this topography. Abstract: On January 1, 1936, Ernst Gombrich arrived in London from Austria. His task was to reorganize the last of Warburg’s fragments and, in particular, to revise what was left of the incomplete mnemosyne atlas. The goal of this study and inventory was to collate Warburg’s uncompleted studies with the purpose of putting together an English publication of his collected work. In 1970, the only result of this publishing endeavour was included in the pages of the famous Aby Warburg. An intellectual biography. The history of the intellectual, as well as critical, relationship between Gombrich and Warburg is, then, a posthumous one that was started on British soil. Further marking this distance are certain material and non-material aspects of Gombrich’s work in London, including his relationship with other warburgian scholars.
