Journal of Applied Mathematics and Physics (JAMP) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jamp.2015.310157
Abstract: A new lattice hierarchy related to Ragnisco-Tu equation is proposed and its gauge equivalence to Ragnisco-Tu equation is proven. As an application of gauge transformation, we construct Darboux transformation (DT) of this new equation through DT of Ragnisco-Tu equation. An explicit exact solution is presented as an example.
Commentary on Study of Contemporary Integrative Thinking
Jian Wang,Juan Hu
Asian Social Science , 2009, DOI: 10.5539/ass.v5n10p94
Abstract: Contemporary integrative thinking is an important thinking way of current scientific development. It is continually developed with flourishing of holism, systematic science and complexity theory. It is far from enough the study of academic circles on its theoretical system, and an automatic condition exists in some aspects. This article is going to comment and analyze several important aspects in theoretical establishment of contemporary integrative thinking. Then the authors make clear study venation of the academic circles, and meanwhile, propose instructive opinions about the theoretical groundwork, scientific essence and practical application of contemporary integrative thinking.
"Cracking-the-whip" effect stretches driven polymers
Juan Li,Wenbing Hu
Physics , 2013,
Abstract: Cracking the whip accelerates the tail of a chain to hit the air loudly and clearly. We proved that the similar acceleration effect causes coil deformation of driven chain-like polymers. We first preformed Monte Carlo simulations of a single driven polymer coil to demonstrate its deformation in company with faster or slower deviations of velocities. We then performed parallel Brownian Dynamics simulations to demonstrate that the coil deformation can be caused by the so-called "cracking-the-whip" effect due to non-synchronous biased Brownian motions of monomers inherited in Monte Carlo simulations. Since such non-synchronous motions represent random perturbations in the environmentally dependent potential energy landscape or mobility, reflecting heterogeneous dynamics of polymers in the liquid phase, our observations bring new insights into the non-linear dynamics of driven chain-like polymers.
Research Progress of Mechanisms on Intracranial Metastasis of Non-small Cell Lung Cancer after Clinical Benefit from EGFR-TKI
Juan JIANG, Chengping HU
- , 2015, DOI: : 10.3779/j.issn.1009-3419.2015.08.09
Abstract: Currently epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) is widely used for treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with EGFR mutation. However, intracranial metastasis and progression could happen to some patients while their primary tumors in lung stabilize or even shrink after EGFR-TKI treatment. And mechanisms on this phenomenon remain unclear. Recently, increasing studies have demonstrated that it is associated with the pharmacokinetics of EGFR-TKI, heterogeneity between primary tumors and metastases, EGFR mutation status and prolonged survival. Therefore, we write this review to discuss the mechanisms on intracranial metastasis of NSCLC after clinical benefit from EGFR-TKI.
Integral-Partial Differential Equations of Isaacs' Type Related to Stochastic Differential Games with Jumps
Rainer Buckdahn,Ying Hu,Juan Li
Mathematics , 2010,
Abstract: In this paper we study zero-sum two-player stochastic differential games with jumps with the help of theory of Backward Stochastic Differential Equations (BSDEs). We generalize the results of Fleming and Souganidis [10] and those by Biswas [3] by considering a controlled stochastic system driven by a d-dimensional Brownian motion and a Poisson random measure and by associating nonlinear cost functionals defined by controlled BSDEs. Moreover, unlike the both papers cited above we allow the admissible control processes of both players to depend on all events occurring before the beginning of the game. This quite natural extension allows the players to take into account such earlier events, and it makes even easier to derive the dynamic programming principle. The price to pay is that the cost functionals become random variables and so also the upper and the lower value functions of the game are a priori random fields. The use of a new method allows to prove that, in fact, the upper and the lower value functions are deterministic. On the other hand, the application of BSDE methods [18] allows to prove a dynamic programming principle for the upper and the lower value functions in a very straight-forward way, as well as the fact that they are the unique viscosity solutions of the upper and the lower integral-partial differential equations of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman-Isaacs' type, respectively. Finally, the existence of the value of the game is got in this more general setting if Isaacs' condition holds.

Open Journal of Epidemiology (OJEpi) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ojepi.2014.43019

Background: The aim of this study was to explore the characteristics of breast cancer mortality in Inner Mongolia, and to provide evidence for the prevention of female breast cancer. Methods: Using data from the Death Registry System from 2008 to 2010. We classified female cancer deaths according to the International Classification of Disease-10th Revision. The mortality of different age groups and the potential years of life lost were calculated for female breast cancer in Inner Mongolia. Results: Breast cancer mortality for Inner Mongolian women was higher in older age groups. The potential years of life lost were also much higher in younger groups than in older groups. Marital status, education level and occupation may contribute to this increase in breast cancer mortality in younger groups. Conclusion: Preventive policies should be implemented to de- velop strategies aimed at reducing the breast cancer mortality, especially with regard to younger age groups in Inner Mongolia.

Open Journal of Epidemiology (OJEpi) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojepi.2015.51008
Abstract: Objective: The aim of our study was to assess bone cancer mortality and the related social factors in Inner Mongolia in China. Methods: We obtained data from the Centers for Disease Control in Inner Mongolia from five monitoring points of the Death Registry System in Inner Mongolia from 2008 to 2012. We calculated the crude mortality rate for bone cancer. The χ2 test was used to examine differences in bone cancer mortality rates between sexes and years. Unconditional logistic regressions were applied to analyze the effect of socio-demographic characteristics by sex. Results: Between 2008 and 2012, the crude mortality rate of bone cancer was 1.12/100000 (95% confidence interval = 1.02-1.21). The bone cancer mortality was 2.24 in men and 1.25 in women, resulting in a male-female ratio of 1.8. No between-year difference in the mortality rate was observed between 2008 and 2012 (men: χ2 = 4.65, P = 0.325; women: χ2 = 2.21, P = 0.698). In general, mortality increased with increasing age. People with a lower education level exhibited an increased risk of bone cancer among both men and women. Jobs involving extensive manual labor decreased the likelihood of bone cancer mortality, and the odds ratio was higher for men than women (0.6 vs. 0.45). Unmarried people had a higher risk for bone cancer than married people. Conclusion: The mortality rate of bone cancer was not significantly different between men and women from 2008 to 2012. The risk of bone cancer increased with age among both sexes. Unmarried people and those with a low education status had an elevated risk of bone cancer, whereas employment in a field involving extensive manual labor appeared to be a protective factor against bone cancer.

Abstract: To examine the cytocidal effect of sodium nitrite on the cancer cell, we subjected human gastric adenocarcinoma epithelia (AGS) cells to various experimentation following exposure to sodium nitrite, and measured the resulting changes in the levels of cell death, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release, and caspase-3, -6, -8, and -9 activities. Our data revealed that, in AGS cells, treatment with ≥6.25 mM sodium nitrite for 8 h resulted in an obvious increase in cell death. LDH release was also markedly increased following sodium nitrite treatment, but at a concentration of ≥6.25 mM for 24 h. This increasing trend showed a positive correlation (r = 0.9564, P < 0.05). In addition, we detected pronounced increases in caspase activities with various concentrations of sodium nitrite: caspase-3 at ≥25 mM for 1 h, ≥12.5 mM for 3 h and 6 h; caspase-9 at 50 mM for 1 h and 3 h, and ≥6.25 mM for 6 h; and caspase-6 at 50 mM for 1 h and 3 h. We did not however, detect any observable increase in the activity of caspase-8 following sodium nitrite treatment at any concentration or for any duration of treatment in this study. This data demonstrates that, in AGS cells, higher concentrations or longer durations of treatment with sodium nitrite could exhibit a cytocidal effect, and that sodium nitrite could induce apoptosis via activation of the caspase-9, caspase-3 cascade (intrinsic pathway) and caspase-6.
