Motriz: Revista de Educa??o Física , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1980-65742012000400015
Abstract: this study aimed to translate the group environment questionnaire (geq) to the portuguese language and check its validity by validating the items through confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency and test-retest reliability of this version. the subjects were seven professionals (four translators and three doctors in sport psychology) and 502 athletes of different kinds of collective sports of the state of paraná. the portuguese version was obtained from the method of cross-cultural translation. for data analysis it was used confirmatory factor analysis, cronbach's alpha and the intraclass correlation coefficient. the results showed the brazilian version contains clear and relevant items, showing coefficient of content validity (cvc) > 0,70; it shows satisfactory internal consistency (r > 0,70) and acceptable test-retest reliability (r > 0,80). the confirmatory factor analysis showed that items 2 ("i'm happy with the amount of playing time i get") and 5 ("some of my best friends are on this team") don't demonstrated acceptable reliability individually, thus they were excluded; the model with 16 items had satisfactory indices of fit of confirmatory factorial validity. it was concluded that brazilian version of the geq has shown good psychometric characteristics and it proved to be valid to assess the group cohesion in sports teams.

Revista Brasileira de Cineantropometria & Desempenho Humano , 2012, DOI: 10.5007/1980-0037.2012v14n6p704
Abstract: this descriptive study was designed to analyze the level of group cohesion and pre-competitive psychological stress of adult volleyball athletes. the subjects consisted of 155 male and female athletes from the state of parana who played in the japs/ 1st division (a), and 2nd division (b). the assessment instruments used were the group environment questionnaire (geq) and the volleyball psychic stress test (v-pst). for data analysis, the following tools were used: cronbach's alpha, kolmogorov-smirnov, mann-whitney, one-way anova, and tukey's post hoc (p<0.05). the results revealed that athletes of division a were more negatively influenced by stress factors than the athletes of division b; in terms of individual attraction to the social group (p=0.014) and tasks (p=0016) athletes of division b had higher levels of group cohesion than athletes from division a; athletes with low social cohesion were negatively impacted by factors of "inappropriate physical conditioning" and "excessive nervousness;" athletes with low levels of cohesion for the task were negatively influenced by the factors of "pressure from other people to win" and positively by the factor "behavior of the fans in the game outside." it was concluded that group cohesion is demonstrated to be an intervening factor in pre-competitive stress thereby demonstrating that the higher the dispute level, the higher the negative influence of stress.

Abstract: the morphogenetic and structural characteristics of panicum maximum cv. momba?a were evaluated in response to different levels of nitrogen supply and cutting regimes. the study was conducted in a glasshouse with natural conditions of light and temperature. treatments corresponded to four levels of nitrogen supply (0, 50, 100 and 200 mg/dm3) and three cutting heights (5, 10 and 20 cm). the morphogenetic evaluations included leaf appearance and elongation rate, phyllochron and leaf lifespan. the structural measurements were: number of leaves, number of tillers and leaf lamina length of fully expanded leaves. the morphogenetic responses were affected by nitrogen supply during regrowth, highlighting the importance of that nutrient for manipulating sward structure. all variables responded positively to nitrogen supply, except phyllochron. cutting height had a significant effect on leaf lifespan, leaf lamina length of fully expanded leaves and number of green leaves per tiller. leaf appearance and elongation rate per tiller were increased in 133 and 104%, respectively, by nitrogen supply. the relationship between both group of variables was determinant for the characterization of the main vegetative changes on plants. the responses observed on morphogenetic characteristics comprise an efficient attribute to manipulate canopy structure, allowing improved allocation of productive resources to growth and developmental processes.
