Forma??o em fisioterapia no Brasil: reflex?es sobre a expans?o do ensino e os modelos de forma??o
Bispo Júnior, José Patrício;
História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-59702009000300005
Abstract: this article on physical therapy education in brazil focuses on the expansion of teaching, field of activities, and professional profile. the number of pt courses began multiplying rapidly in 1997, but the process lacked regulation and entailed both privatization of education and a geographic concentration of courses. this increase in both courses and trained physical therapists did not redound in greater access to pt services. the privatist curative-rehabilitation model that has been adopted is not appropriate to the new epidemiological reality or to current healthcare standards. recent years have seen initiatives to bring change to physical therapy education and build a new professional profile.
Fisioterapia e saúde coletiva: desafios e novas responsabilidades profissionais
Bispo Júnior,José Patrício;
Ciência & Saúde Coletiva , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-81232010000700074
Abstract: the physiotherapist is destining its attention almost exclusively on the cure of patients and their rehabilitation. however, the new epidemic profile and the new logic of organization of the health system suggest the restructuring of this professional practices and the re-definition of the field of the physiotherapist's performance. in this sense, this article aims to discuss the reorientation of the field of the physiotherapy professional performance and the new possibilities of acting at the unified health system (sus). the article starts with a debate about the demographic, epidemiological and nutrition transitions and the new professional demands before the new attendance models. taking as reference the model of health surveillance and the primary attention as a restructuring axis of the health system, it is highlighted the overcome of the rehabilitation as only level of professional performance and showed the collective model of the physiotherapy as an instrument of reorientation of the physiotherapist's performance. finally, it is presented some possibilities of the physiotherapist's performance in the basic attention and in the collective ambit.

Abstract: objectives: to analyze the social participation taking place through municipal health councils (mhc) in two small towns in northeastern brazil. methods: a qualitative, exploratory, multicase study focused on the mhcs of lafayete coutinho (state of bahia) and groaíras (state of ceará) was conducted. data were gathered from february-april 2005 through analysis of documents, direct observation of mhc meetings, and semistructured interviews. documents analyzed included decrees, laws, and municipal regulations; city health department annual management reports; municipal health plans; and reports of municipal health conferences. mhc meeting minutes for the period between inception of these councils and 2004 were also reviewed. interviews of 17 council members took place, eight of whom were from lafayete coutinho and nine from groaíras. results: both councils had irregular practices regarding membership structure and nomination of members, such as frequent changes in appointed members and continuous "reshuffling" of council structure. in addition, new council members were appointed each time a new mayor took charge. sporadic frequency of meetings was also observed. in lafayete coutinho, of 96 meetings planned, just 37 took place; in groaíras, of 186 meetings planned, 93 took place. analysis of mhc efforts to formulate and control municipal health policies revealed three themes: health status of the population and public policies; organization and functioning of health services; and financial management and accounting. the interviews showed that council members were dissatisfied with the practices of the mhcs and revealed a lack of confidence in how truly representative the councils are and how much power they have. conclusions: social participation strategies in brazil must be reconsidered with an angle toward promoting political responsibility and raising awareness among citizens.

This paper analyzes the performance of Local Health Councils as tools for social participation in the Family Health Strategy. It is a quali-quantitative research with triangulation method. The research took place in the city of Vitoria da Conquista, state of Bahia, Brazil. Data and information were gathered through the analysis of the agenda, follow-up forms, minutes of meetings of the council and semi-structured interviews with key informants. The results show that the local health councils have limited performance, with a low frequency of meetings, commitments directed to the council itself and meetings on difficulties to access health care services. Low levels of social mobilization and community engagement are the main draw-backs for the good performance of these forums. Some problems stand out: counselors' representativeness, lack of motivation to perform voluntary tasks and feeling unprepared due to a poor graduation and training program. We conclude that institutionalization of local councils is not enough to promote community participation. It requires actions that can promote social mobilization and inform communities of the importance of group participation and engagement.

PALAVRAS-CHAVE: pH SMP; acidez potencial do solo; solos do cerrado goiano. In order to establish the correlation between soil potential acidity and SMP solution pH, 472 soil samples from the Goiás State cerrado area were studied. Soils were analyzed for H + Al by the calcium acetate at pH 7.0, SMP solution pH, and water pH methods. Data showed a correlation between SMP solution pH and soil H + Al content (r2=0.82), allowing the potential acidity determination in laboratory substitution for the equation obtained (y = 222.54 + 29.83x - 164,7x^0.5). KEY-WORDS: pH SMP; soil potential acidity; Goiás State cerrado soils.

Abstract: in this work, the wood of six indigenous and two exotic species, previously extracted with different solvents, was exposed to the fungus gloeophyllum trabeum, with the objective of determining which solvent was most efficient in removing the substances responsible for their resistance to decay. the samples were reduced to sawdust and extracted with cold and hot water, with a mixture of ethanol/toluene, dichloromethane, and methanol, and also totally extracted with hot water with ethanol-toluene and ethanol. after extraction, the samples were inoculated with the fungus, inside a plastic container. the results showed the remarkable resistance of cedrela fissilis wood, even after total extraction, as evidenced by its low mass loss; the solvents were unable to remove the substance or substances that confer that durability. non-extracted amburana cearensis, vanillosmopsis erythropappa, machaerium scleroxylon and eucalypts (corymbia citriodora and eucalyptus gummifera) showed their typical resistance; when totally extracted, however, their mass loss was very high. as regarding individual solvents, in v. erythropappa and eucalypts, dichloromethane was the most efficient in removing the substance responsible for resistance. c. citriodora wood showed a low mass loss when it was extracted with cold and hot water, dichloromethane and natural (not extracted). wood of a. cearensis extracted with the mixture ethanol/toluene had the most severe weight loss, while in m. scleroxylon the most efficient solvent was methanol.

Abstract: Here, we show the morphological events associated with organelle segregation and their timing in the cell cycle of a reference strain of Leishmania (L.) amazonensis promastigotes, the main causative agent of Tegumentary leishmaniasis in the Americas. We show evidences that during the cell cycle, L. amazonensis promastigotes present two distinct modes of nucleus and kinetoplast segregation, which occur in different temporal order in different proportions of cells. We used DAPI-staining and EdU-labeling to monitor the segregation of DNA-containing organelles and DNA replication in wild-type parasites. The emergence of a new flagellum was observed using a specific monoclonal antibody. The results show that L. amazonensis cell cycle division is peculiar, with 65% of the dividing cells duplicating the kinetoplast before the nucleus, and the remaining 35% doing the opposite or duplicating both organelles concomitantly. In both cases, the new flagellum appeared during S to G2 phase in 1N1K cells and thus before the segregation of both DNA-containing organelles; however, we could not determine the exact timing of flagellar synthesis. Most of these results were confirmed by the synchronization of parasites using hydroxyurea. Altogether, our data show that during the cell cycle of L. amazonensis promastigotes, similarly to L. donovani, the segregation of nucleus and kinetoplast do not follow a specific order, especially when compared to other trypanosomatids, reinforcing the idea that this characteristic seems to be species-specific and may represent differences in cellular biology among members of the Leishmania genus.
