La consolidación del Monterrey "imaginario" en el contexto de la globalización: "Macroproyectos" urbanos
Prieto González, José Manuel;
Frontera norte , 2011,
Abstract: without ignoring functional effectiveness, cities are emphasizing seductive aesthetics as a tool for beneftting their own economy. over the last two decades, monterrey has joined a global trend that develops urban policies based on the construction of architectural and urban icons, and organizing large international cultural and sporting events, which are in themselves essential projects for transforming the city and solving its current problems. the development of urban "macroprojects" in monterrey has permitted the creation of an "imaginary city" -one that is marketable and ignores and substitutes the "real city". however, acting in this way entails its own risks, which is the subject of this article.

Frontera norte , 2011,
Abstract: One of the reforms that the architectural profession underwent in the mid-nineteenth century was the substitution of the traditional and exclusivelly artistic focus of students sojourns abroad for a tendency that combined the two dominant aspects of architecture: art and science. This transformation was encouraged by the aspiration of the new liberal bourgeois regime. The project of Francisco de Cubas abroad illustrates this development fo the first time.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopy , 2011, DOI: 10.1155/2011/875941
Abstract: Over the past few years, we have read several publications regarding the term “cat scratch colon.” This neologism was developed to define some bright red linear markings seen in the colonic mucosa that resemble scratches made by a cat. We would like to communicate a recent case attended at our institution. A 67-year-old man with abdominal pain was referred to our unit for colonoscopy. He was a heavy smoker and a moderate drinker. He suffered from peripheral vascular disease and was treated with pentoxifylline and acetyl salicylic acid. He had been operated on his stomach due to a gastric peptic perforation years ago; he had a pulmonary benign tumour resected and a hepatic hydatid cyst removed several years ago. No abnormalities were seen in a general analysis. The colonoscopy was performed after standard bowel preparation and sedation (midazolam and meperidine). The total procedure was not traumatic, and no excess air insufflation was used. There was a small polyp in the left colon. However, on entering the cecal area, several bright linear marks were seen in the mucosa (Figures 1 and 2) with some extravasation of fresh blood. A couple of biopsies were taken which were informed as normal. The polyp resected on withdrawal was adenomatous. The remainder of the colorectal mucosa was macroscopically normal. Figure 1 Figure 2 “Cat scratch colon” is defined as bright erythematous linear marks, sometimes with extravasation of little fresh blood, seen in the cecum and in ascending colon. It is a rare colonoscopy finding first described by McDonnell et al. in 2006 [1]. The authors reviewed 8277 colonoscopies performed in a single endoscopy center and identified 21 cases, mainly female patients. All these patients were biopsied and normal findings were seen in histological specimens except in 2 of them, where collagenous colitis was described. The etiology is not well known. Vascular malformations do not play a role, and inflammation is not seen in the biopsies taken. The lesions are not due to direct scope trauma. We detected them, as other authors did, previous to the intubation of the area affected. McDonnell et al. suggested these scratches can represent barotraumas from air insufflation into a less compliant colon during the colonoscopy. Distension and traction during a special difficult procedure can be the cause, as hemorrhagic colonic mucosa can occasionally be seen in such cases [2]. Tominaga et al. [3] published two nice pictures of a female patient: a first gentle intubation of the ascending colon was performed, where colonic mucosa was normal. A

Abstract: trichoderma sp is a fungus often used in agricultural activities, because it acts as an antagonist of several species of plant pathogenic fungi. in this study four strains of trichoderma sp was isolated from the northeastern mexico, which were identified by sequencing the its 1. we also evaluated its ability antagonistic against phytopathogenic fungi macrophomina phaseolina andfusarium oxysporum this fungi are reported affecting severely maize, sorghum and beans crops in northeastern mexico. the identification was made according to the degree of consistency with reported sequences and the data show that the isolates belong to the species t. hammatum (hk701), t. koningiopsis (hk702), t. asperellum (hk703) and trichoderma sp (hk704). antagonism tests showed that the isolated, hk701, hk703 and hk704 inhibited the growth by competition to m phaseolina and f. oxysporum , while the hk702 has the ability to hyperparasites these pathogens. finally was evaluated in maize (pioneer 30p49?) we measured the dry weight and biomass production. the results show that at intermediate concentrations have the greatest increase in plant height and dry height of root and foliage.

Abstract: Sex pre-grade courses in Colombia are not common yet. Although generally it is thought that professionals have large information in the area, it is observed that the first sex course given in a Medical School of a Colombian University was dictacted in the Universidad de Caldas (Manizales) only in 1968. Five years Iater a similar course was introduced in the Medical School of the Universidad del Rosario in Bogota. The phenomenon ís not surprising since a similar sítuation occurs in other Latín American countries. The paper presents the main characteristics of a formal sex course which has been included in the psychology currículum at the Universidad Metropalitana in Barranquilla, Colombia. It ia consídered very useful for those persons interested on improving the training of the Latin American psychologist.
Relapsing massive metal bezoar: a case report

Journal of Medical Case Reports , 2009, DOI: 10.1186/1752-1947-3-56
Abstract: A 34-year-old man presented with a history of sub-acute onset of mild diffuse abdominal pain and abdominal distention. Physical examination revealed dullness to percussion in the upper and lower left quadrants. Past medical history was remarkable for epilepsy, schizophrenia and previous abdominal surgery for intestinal occlusion. Plain radiographs revealed objects of metal density contained within a dilated stomach. Celiotomy was performed revealing more than 350 metal objects inside the stomach. The patient was discharged and referred to a psychiatric facility.Intestinal occlusion in patients with psychiatric disorders can result from rare causes such as bezoars. This report alerts surgeons to rule out bezoars in the differential diagnosis of intestinal occlusion in people with mental health problems.A bezoar is a conglomeration of partially digested or non-digested foreign material in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, most commonly found in the stomach [1]. Less commonly, bezoars are found in the small intestine and the colon and only a few in the rectum are reported in the literature [2]. Bezoars may cause a wide variety of signs and symptoms depending on their location and can range from asymptomatic to occlusion and perforation. Bezoars are classified into several main types and are named according to the materials from which they are composed: phytobezoars, trichobezoars, pharmacobezoars and lactobezoars. Other rare, less frequent bezoars are unclassified and include materials such as plastic and metal. The occurrence of relapse is rare and will reappear in 14% of cases, more often associated in psychiatric patients [3]. Only two cases of metal bezoar have been reported in the international literature [4,5]. To the best of our knowledge, we report the first case of a relapsing massive metal bezoar, managed at the Department of General Surgery of the "Hospital Civil de Guadalajara Fray Antonio Alcalde", University of Guadalajara.A 34-year-old man presented to the
Factores de voto en Galicia.

Revista de Investigaciones Políticas y Sociológicas (RIPS) , 2003,
Abstract: This article is based on empirical data analysing the electoral behaviour of Galicians. The research is centred on the regional elections of 1997 and the general elections of 2000, two political moments that substantiate the present structure of the Galician party system. Using post-electoral studies and the data available in the Galician Political Barometers, we seek to identify the elements and variables that determine the party choice of the voters. The specific focus is to discover the factors influencing voting in the present political panorama and to contrast various analytical perspectives in the political competition scenario of Galicia. This empirical analysis demonstrates the primacy of political factors over sociological determinism.
