Abstract: Objetiva-se neste trabalho fazer uma análise sobre as futuras políticas complementares para a matura o dos Clusters automotivos, implantados na Regi o Metropolitana de Curitiba – RMC. A problemática deste artigo está centrada na necessidade de constantes implementa es de inova es tecnológicas para que ocorra a matura o dos aglomerados industriais localizados na RMC. Este artigo está fundamentado por autores, que tratam da globaliza o e da aglomera o industrial vigente. O ponto central passa pelo diálogo sobre o modo de produ o capitalista, tendo como base as novas estratégias locacionais dos complexos industriais automotivos, por conta da forma o da aglomera o industrial – cluster. Ao longo desta pesquisa, foi possível antever, de forma estratégica, a necessidade de implanta o de novas políticas de matura o, por conta das institui es responsáveis pela manuten o dos clusters automotivos nas regi es politicamente delimitadas, tal como na RMC.

Abstract: miconia cinnamomifolia it is na arboreal plant of the melastomataceae family. this work aims to evaluate the physiological maturity and germination capacity of miconia cinnamomifolia seed. the maturation study were conducted in the serra do caparaó, ibitirama-es, during 2000/2001 and 2001/2002. each inflorescence was identified at anthesis. the treatments were constituted by six intervals of seed harvest, which were 35, 50, 65, 80, 95 and 110 days after anthesis. the following parameters were evaluated: fruit color, seed moisture content, dry matter accumulation, germination test. the rehearsals were accomplished in peter dish, in a fully randomized design with four replicates of 25 seeds. the results showed that the physiological maturity in miconia seeds occurs between 100 a 120 days after anthesis. higher value of loss of water of the seed coincides with higher accumulation of dry mass, that increases until about 80 days after anthesis. the collection of the seeds in the serrana region of the caparaó, must be made next to the 110 days to anthesis, when the coloration of the fruits is black and the seed water level is approximately 22,92%. the seeds, under natural conditions of the region, germinated after 66 days the sowing.
Germina??o de sementes de cubiu em diferentes substratos e temperaturas

Abstract: the cubiu (solanum sessiliflorum dunal) is a native arbustiva solanacea of the amazon whose fruits present a high concentration citric acid. this study was carried to verify the effect of substrate and temperature on the germination capacity of cubiu seeds. this study was developed in the seed analysis laboratories at the agrarian science center at the universidade federal do espírito santo (cca-ufes), alegre-es, brazil. a cinpletely randomized design was used with four repetitions of 50 seeds, in a 6x6 factorial outline, with six substrates (on vermiculite (v); between sand (ea); on paper (sp); on sand (sa); on mixture soil+sand+esterco (tae) and paper roll (rp) and six temperatures (constant of 20, 25 and 30oc and alternated of 20-25; 25-30 and 20-30oc). the following characteristics were assessed: germination (%); emergency speed index(ive); hard and deteriorated seeds (%); normal and abnormal seedlings (%); seedlings height (mm) and canopy and root dry matter (mg). the results showed that the substrate on sand and between sand under 20-30oc were the best conditions for cubiu seed germination.

Abstract: morphological characterization of fruits and seeds provides subsidies for species differentiation and characterization of ecological aspects of plants, such as dispersion, seedling establishment and ecological succession phase . thereare few studies reported in regard to erythrina variegata l. and in the literature there is no information about its behavior, especially about its system of propagation in the state of espírito santo. the objective of this study was to investigate the morphology of the fruits, seeds and seedlings of this species, characterizing the fruits externally, the seeds internally and externally, and describing the process of development and differentiation of the phases of the seedlings, as well as collecting information regarding the seed germination, using a completely randomized experimental design with the following treatments: intact seeds (control); mechanical scarification with sandpaper number 120, on the opposite side to the embryo; scarification with sandpaper and posterior soaking in water at ambient temperature for 6, 12 and 24 hours; thermal shock; and soaking in water at ambient temperature for 12 and 24 hours. the seeds did not show themselves impermeable to water through their teguments, thus, not requiring pre-germination treatments.

Abstract: the objective of this study was to determine the optimum germination temperature for seeds of the erythrina variegata l. the experiments were carried out at the seed analysis laboratory at cca-ufes (laboratório de análise de sementes of cca-ufes) in alegre-es. the seeds were placed in plastic seed germination containers (gerbox), with sterilized sand as the substrate. random samples of 25 seeds each were incubated separately at constant temperature of 12oc, 14oc, 16oc, 18oc, 20oc, 22oc, 24oc, 26oc, 28oc, 30oc, 32oc, 34oc, 36oc, 38oc and 40oc, with 8-hour photoperiod. this procedure was repeated four times to obtain a meaningful result. it was found that e. variegata seeds have a broad range of temperature tolerance with seed germination observed between 14oc and 38oc. temperatures between 22oc and 36oc seemed most favorable with germination in excess of 67%. temperatures between 32oc and 34oc produced the optimum average rate and time for germination. the highest percentage of e. variegata seed germination was found to be at the temperature of 34oc.

Abstract: the objective was to study the morphology of the seeds and seedlings of dimorphandra wilsonii rizz. characterizing the seeds internally and externally, as well as describing the processes of development and differentiation of the seedlings phases. the soaking curve, the thousand-seed weight and the number of seeds per kilogram were also determined. one kilogram of the seeds corresponded to a number of 2.560 seeds in average. the seeds have endosperm, in which the tegmen is strongly attached and the teguments are hard and impermeable to water. the seed and seedling morphology gives informations that facilitates the recognition of this species.

Abstract: the objective this work was evaluate the physical and physiological quality in organic and conventional seed of broccoli. four lots of broccoli seeds (brassica oleracea l. var. italica plenk), cv. ramoso piracicaba were used. two of organic origin (lot 1 and lot 2) and two conventional origin (lot 3 and lot 4). the lots were evaluated by the following tests: physical purity, weight of a thousand seeds, water content, standard germination and vigor (first germination count, emergence, emergence speed index in greenhouse and accelerated aging (41, 43 and 45 °c, during 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours). according to the results organic and conventional seed presented similar quality in relation to seed germination. however higher vigor was observed in conventional seed lot. the accelerated aging with temperature of 41 oc for 48 hours and 72 hours for organic and conventional seeds respectively can be used to evaluate the seed quality. the temperature of 43 oc for 48 hours is efficient to evaluate the organic end conventional seeds lots.

Abstract: O objetivo neste estudo foi avaliar a rela o entre a posi o de coleta dos frutos de pimenta malagueta na planta, a qualidade das sementes e o desenvolvimento inicial das plantulas. As sementes foram obtidas de frutos coletados em diferentes posi es na copa (C) e nos ramos (R): 1- apical, 2- mediana e 3- basal, e avaliados o teor de água, peso de mil sementes (PMS), número de sementes por quilo, tamanho de sementes (comprimento, largura e espessura), germina o e vigor pelo índice de velocidade de germina o (IVG), tempo médio de germina o (TMG), comprimento da raiz, parte aérea, massa fresca e massa seca das plantulas após 28 dias da semeadura. As sementes de frutos coletados na por o basal e mediana da copa, e basal dos ramos (C2R3 e C3R3) apresentaram maior PMS, associado ao maior comprimento e largura. Estes tratamentos apresentaram maior valor para a porcentagem de germina o, maior índice de velocidade de germina o e menor tempo médio de germina o. Além do maior vigor, as sementes provenientes de frutos coletados na regi o basal (C3R3) propiciaram o melhor desenvolvimento inicial de plantulas com rela o ao comprimento da raiz, massa fresca e seca de plantulas. The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the collection position of fruits from the malagueta pepper plant and seed quality and initial seedling development. The seeds were obtained from fruits collected at different positions in the canopy (C) and branches (R): 1 - apical, 2 - median, and 3 - basal. The following evaluations were made: water content, seed weight (PMS), number of seeds per kilogram, seed size (1ength , width and thickness), germination and vigor, according to the germination speed index (IVG), the average time of germination (TMG), root and seedling length, and the fresh and dry weights of seedlings 28 days after sowing. Seeds from fruits collected from the basal and median positions of the canopy, and base of branches (C2R3 and C3R3) had a higher PMS, associated with a greater seed length and width. These treatments also showed a higher germination percentage, germination speed index and lower mean germination time. Besides the higher vigor, seeds from fruits collected in the basal region (C3R3) show greater plant development for root length and fresh and dry weight of the seedlings.

Abstract: Objetivou-se neste trabalho avaliar a qualidade física e fisiológica de sementes de brócolos biológicos e convencionais. Foram utilizados quatro lotes de sementes de brócolos (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica Plenk), cultivar Ramoso Piracicaba; dois de origem biológica (Lote 1 e Lote 2) e dois de convencional (Lote 3 e Lote 4). Foram avaliados pureza física, peso de mil sementes, teor de água, germina o e vigor (primeira contagem de germina o, emergência, velocidade de emergência em casa de vegeta o, envelhecimento acelerado (41, 43 e 45 °C por períodos de 24, 48, 72 e 96 horas). As sementes apresentaram comportamento germinativo similar, entretanto, maior vigor foi verificado nas sementes do Lote 3 e do Lote 4 (convencionais); o teste de envelhecimento acelerado pode ser realizado na temperatura de 41 oC por 48 horas e 72 horas para sementes de brócolos biológicos e convencionais, respectivamente; e 43 oC por 48 horas para os quatro lotes de sementes. Abstract: The first step sequence that involves the germination process is imbibition. The limitation of water to the seed at planting time can reduce germination and velocty as well as the development of the seedling. Hence, the objective of this study was to evaluate the germination and seedling development of jatropha under conditions of water stress by polyethylene glycol (PEG6000). The study was conducted at the Research Laboratory of the Department of Crop Seeds, Federal University of Vi osa. We used seeds of jatropha in temperature de 30 °C under osmotic potential levels of 0.0, -0.2, -0.4, -0.6, -0.8, -1.0 and -1.2. The performance of seed germination and seedling development were evaluated by germination (first and second count), index of germination velocity, time of germination, length and primary root and hypocotyl length. The experimental design was completely randomized design with six levels of osmotic potential to more witnesses and four replications. We conducted the analysis of variance and regression of the data and curves fitted by quadratic polynomial model for all variables. The reduction in osmotic potential of the substrate caused a significant reduction in germination of seeds of jatropha, as well as the speed of germination and seedling performance of this species. The fall of germination and seedling performance is enhanced and levels considered critical to -0.2 MPa and inhibits germination from -1.2 MPa. Diante disto, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho germinativo e o desenvolvimento de plantulas de pinh o manso sob condi es de estresse hídrico simulado por polietilenoglicol (PEG6000). O trabalho foi desenvolvido no Laboratório de Pesquisa em Sementes do Departamento de Fitotecnia da Universidade Federal de Vi osa. Utilizaram-se sementes de pinh o manso em temperatura de 30oC sob os níveis de potencial osmótico de 0,0; -0,2; -0,4; -0,6; -0,8; -1,0 e -1,2. O desempenho germinativo das sementes e o desenvolvimento das plantulas foram avaliados pelos testes de germina o (primeira e segunda contagem), índice de velocidade de germina o, tempo médio de germina o, comprimento de raiz primária e comprimento do hipocótilo.
