Abstract: a central concept of the current agenda of public policies is sustainability. achieving it requires actions favoring ecological balance that can counteract social uprooting which generates behaviors that do not consider environmental effects in the short / medium / long term. it is therefore important to incorporate social factors that make possible modes of relationship and social organization that support actions promoting sustainable development. in this context, the purpose of this paper is to present the characterization results for indicators of social cohesion (cs) of fourteen communities in a rural town in southeastern mexico. results show that no community reached a maximum level of sc. in general, the communities had a medium level of sc but even when they shared the same level of sc, each community had different needs for its development, which requires working with each one of them particularly considering their own characteristics.

Abstract: 20 aortas from wistar rats ranging between 330-370 g of weight from the breeding place of “victoria de girón” institute of basic and preclinical sciences were analyzed aimed at identifying and characterizing the atherosclerotic injury and at relating it to oxidative stress indicators as malondialdehyde. for the anatomopathological and morphometric study of the arteries, it was used the atherometric system. blood samples were also taken to measure the levels of malondialdehyde. the most relevant results were that the adipose striae were present in the different weights and their greatest presence was observed between 330 and 3345 g. the fibrous plaques began their slow appearance in the second group and the severe plaque was more observed in the weight group 363-370 g. as regards the mda levels, there was a significant increase in the groups of higher weight, according to the severity of the atheroma plaque
Evaluation of the Role of Functional Constraints on the Integrity of an Ultraconserved Region in the Genus Drosophila
Carlos Díaz-Castillo ,Xiao-Qin Xia,José M. Ranz
PLOS Genetics , 2012, DOI: 10.1371/journal.pgen.1002475
Abstract: Why gene order is conserved over long evolutionary timespans remains elusive. A common interpretation is that gene order conservation might reflect the existence of functional constraints that are important for organismal performance. Alteration of the integrity of genomic regions, and therefore of those constraints, would result in detrimental effects. This notion seems especially plausible in those genomes that can easily accommodate gene reshuffling via chromosomal inversions since genomic regions free of constraints are likely to have been disrupted in one or more lineages. Nevertheless, no empirical test has been performed to this notion. Here, we disrupt one of the largest conserved genomic regions of the Drosophila genome by chromosome engineering and examine the phenotypic consequences derived from such disruption. The targeted region exhibits multiple patterns of functional enrichment suggestive of the presence of constraints. The carriers of the disrupted collinear block show no defects in their viability, fertility, and parameters of general homeostasis, although their odorant perception is altered. This change in odorant perception does not correlate with modifications of the level of expression and sex bias of the genes within the genomic region disrupted. Our results indicate that even in highly rearranged genomes, like those of Diptera, unusually high levels of gene order conservation cannot be systematically attributed to functional constraints, which raises the possibility that other mechanisms can be in place and therefore the underpinnings of the maintenance of gene organization might be more diverse than previously thought.

Saline intrusion in Guaymas Valley, Mexico from time-domain electromagnetic soundings
Martínez-Retama, Silvia;Flores, Carlos;Castillo-Gurrola, José;
Geofísica internacional , 2007,
Abstract: a severe salt water intrusion in guaymas valley, sonora is mapped by means of 44 time-domain electromagnetic soundings. in the southern part of the valley the resistivity distribution is simple. a conducting layer associated with the saline intrusion in the upper aquifer shows a systematic increase of resistivity inland. three soundings feature a low- resistivity layer within this conductor, suggesting higher salinity at the bottom. the northern zone has a complex electrical structure, but a conductor with increasing resistivity can be recognized. the results suggest that the lower aquifer is not affected by the intrusion. when plotted against salinity the conductivity is biased with respect to the predictions of archie's law. clay lenses in the unsaturated sediments may account for the bias and dispersion of conductivities.

Machín Rodríguez,Jorge Carlos; Castillo Martínez,José Manuel; Torralbas Reverón,Fredy Eladio;
MEDISAN , 2012,
Abstract: acute mediastinitis is a complication of the heart surgery, which shows high mortality and it always requires surgical treatment, of which several therapeutic modalities exist. decisions are complicated, for this reason the establishment of a therapeutic algorithm that allows to reduce mortality due to this complication is necessary. the great variability of the results and the spectrum of surgical techniques described on this respect, have attempted against the creation of practical guides based on the evidence for the postoperative mediastinal infection, in such way that the few algorithms that have been published are incomplete or very specific. a therapeutic algorithm is presented for the acute mediastinitis, elaborated in the cardiology center from sant iago de cuba, it is of easy application. it decreased mortality and can be applied in the rest of the centers from the country, which don't have a similar tool.
Bucheli,María del Socorro; Castillo M,Carlos Arbey; Villarreal,José Luis;
Cuadernos de Contabilidad , 2009,
Abstract: to study the importance of heritage from a cultural perspective is to create spaces to analyze the inestimable social value of a peoples' regional identity. heritage itself, as given to us by past generations can be affected, destroyed, and finished, explains the need for institutions devoted to identify and preserve such cultural heritage via raising awareness of its existence and the importance of its care. accountancy, from a cultural perspective and as an information system, deals with the definition of forms, methods, and/or models to inform about material and immaterial cultural heritage. this paper presents some reflections on the social dimensions of accounting, a discipline which is a branch of knowledge in continuous evolution.
