Maria José Mota Ramos, Leandro Glaydson da Rocha Pinho
Natural Resources (NR) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/nr.2014.58034
Abstract:
The deficiencies of mineral elements, change the development of plants in a broad sense, and therefore may alter the growth and fruit quality. The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of macronutrient and boron deficiencies on morphological characteristics of Jupi pineapple fruits. The treatments complete, -N, -P, -K, -Ca, -Mg, -S and -B were applied as nutrient solutions in plastic pots with 14 kg of purified beach sand and one pineapple plant as the experimental unit. The trial was set up a randomized complete blocks design with six replicate. Nitrogen deficiency reduced fruit mass with and without crown, fruit length and diameter and peduncle diameter, increased TA, TSS and vitamin C, reduced TSS/TA, pH, pulp coloration and sensory acceptance of the fruits; phosphorus deficiency reduced fruit mass with and without crown, fruit and crown length, potassium deficiency reduced fruit mass with and without crown, length and diameter peduncle and calcium deficiency reduced peduncle diameter. Peel thickness was not affected by any deficiency. Nitrogen is the nutrient that most influenced the fruits quality of pineapple Jupi.

In this article we have used a CD-ROM, which offers the student a multimedia key to identify 22 species of arthropods. We evaluate this key multimedia tool for teaching in classes of elementary school (seventh, eighth and ninth years ) at a private school in the city of Parnamirim in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The evaluation was divided into two stages: assessment by questionnaire after contact with key media; and a comparison with the marks obtained in the test of students who had and not had contact with the multimedia tool. In all, 89 students participated in both stages of evaluation. We find, overall, a positive evaluation and a significantly higher performance of students in the test who interacted with the multimedia.
Investigando portais de governo eletr nico de estados no Brasil: muita tecnologia, pouca democracia Investigating e-gov portals in brazilian states: much technology, little democracy
This article investigates portals of state governments in Brazil in order to find out the steps taken by the e-gov to improve democracy through digital processes. The article is focused on portals in nine of the more economically developed states, plus the country's capital, Brasilia. The analytical model looks at, in one sense, the more technologically advanced features of the portals and how these websites make available information to citizens in a way to make their lives easier. In the other, and this is the most important point, the article deals with the features concerning accountability and popular participation in order to verify how the portals (and the governments under consideration) have proven to be a successful experiment towards the deepening of democracy in Brazil, and the realization of a new kind of society: a digital one. The theoretical framework emphasizes the categories of e-gov, accountability, and popular participation. The results are not positive, agreeing with the international literature, and are attributed to the authoritarian and conservative trajectory of the state in Brazil. It has also been pointed out that all these processes, taking into consideration the absorption of digital society's parameters as well the development of democracy, are still under construction i

Integra??o, flexibilidade e qualidade: os caminhos para um novo paradigma produtivo
Martins, Roberto Antonio;Sacomano, José Benedito;
Gest?o & Produ??o , 1994, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-530X1994000200003
Abstract: the objective of this paper is to report some results of exploratory research carried out in four brazilian companies. the subject of research is the introduction of a new world-wide productive paradigm. the object of study was the production planning and control systems. the findings show that there is not a formal methodology for the transition of the productive paradigm. the success depends on people. moreover, there is a misunderstanding of how the activities of production planning and control manage the production process. such an understanding is a great opportunity for manufacturing systems to manage better their productive processes.
Clinical profiles of serious suicide attempters consecutively admitted to a university-based hospital: a cluster analysis study
Rapeli, Claudemir Benedito;Botega, Neury José;
Revista Brasileira de Psiquiatria , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-44462005000400006
Abstract: objective: to verify the presence of different groups of medically serious suicide attempters who had more clinical or surgical seriousness and required admission to a general hospital. methods: 121 patients admitted consecutively were assessed. a questionnaire containing items on the patient characteristics and psychometric scales to assess the suicidal intent and lethality were used. a cluster analysis was performed using the k-means method. results: three groups were identified: 1) 43 subjects (mostly female) characterized by self-poisoning with medication and low suicidal intent, with highly impulsive suicide attempts; 2) 53 subjects (mostly males) who ingested pesticides and presented both moderate degrees of lethality and suicidal intent; 3) 17 subjects (predominantly males) who used more violent methods and presented high levels of lethality and suicidal intent. conclusions: grouped data of these inpatients could be misleading for follow-up research purposes as our findings indicate that there are relatively distinct clinical profiles among suicide attempters admitted to a general hospital.
Trajetórias tecnológicas no segmento offshore: ambiente e oportunidades
Ortiz Neto, José Benedito;Shima, Walter Tadahiro;
Revista de Economia Contemporanea , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-98482008000200005
Abstract: this article presents different technological trajectories concerning the offshore exploration segment in the world petroleum industry, considering their main aspects and components. more specifically, different trajectories will be analyzed in the first two largest crude oil territories: gulf of mexico (usa) and sea north (europe). these, along with bacia de campos in brazil, are the most productive and the richest regions in the planet and, therefore, where the three technological trajectories have been developed. this historic survey is important because it reveals the elements that provide the basis for technological knowledge, which allowed petrobras to start its offshore activities in the 60s and 70s, via an original technology. the offshore exploration meant the emergence of a new technological paradigm supported by three trajectories.

Silva Neto, Benedito;Figueiredo, José Wnilson;
Revista de Economia e Sociologia Rural , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-20032009000400003
Abstract: the municipalities with less than 20.000 inhabitants sum up more than one-third of the total population of rio grande do sul state. based on the hypothesis that the wealth distribution, population and the agricultural dynamic can perform an important role in the development of such municipalities, a macroeconomic model that would allow the analysis of the influences of the factors previously mentioned on the local that economies were elaborated. simulations carried out with such model, applied to a small agricultural municipality in the north of the sate (lagoa dos tres cantos), have indicated that a more egalitarian distribution of wealth associated with a diversification of the production would cause a significant increase of demand for goods and services destined to the internal consumption with beneficial effects on the local economy, while increase in the production destined to exports has little impact on the local economy. simulations have also shown that the decrease in the number of the population, as the one that occurred in the municipality during 1990 and 2002, causes strongly negative effects on the related demand. therefore, support policies with regards to the maintenance of jobs in agriculture and that stimulate non-agricultural activities can perform an important role in this sort of municipality.
