Influence of Gamma Irradiation on Seedless Citrus Production: Pollen Germination and Fruit Quality  [PDF]
Almudena Bermejo, José Pardo, Antonio Cano
Food and Nutrition Sciences (FNS) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/fns.2011.23024
Abstract: Seedlessness is a desirable characteristic in citrus fruits sold for fresh consumption. Gamma irradiation is widely used to obtain seedless citrus fruits. Here, different clones of the self-incompatible parthenocarpic ‘Moncada’ mandarin, obtained by gamma irradiation, were studied to assess seedlessness, pollen germination, fruit characteristics and qua- lity attributes. Findings indicate that irradiation altered aspects other than seedlessness, such as pollen germination, and some of the clones presented different weight, size, acidity and maturity index. Fruit quality and nutritional bio- components were affected differently; some clones presented no changes compared to the control ‘Moncada’ man-darin, while other clones showed significant differences. In general, all clones examined presented low seed numbers and re- duced pollen viability. Some of these clones, which ripen late in the season and whose fruit quality is maintained or improved, are in the process of registration.
ERP Software Selection Processes: A Case Study inthe Metal Transformation Sector  [PDF]
Antonio Hidalgo, José Albors, Luis Gómez
Intelligent Information Management (IIM) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/iim.2011.31001
Abstract: When a firm decides to implement ERP softwares, the resulting consequences can pervade all levels, includ- ing organization, process, control and available information. Therefore, the first decision to be made is which ERP solution must be adopted from a wide range of offers and vendors. To this end, this paper describes a methodology based on multi-criteria factors that directly affects the process to help managers make this de- cision. This methodology has been applied to a medium-size company in the Spanish metal transformation sector which is interested in updating its IT capabilities in order to obtain greater control of and better infor- mation about business, thus achieving a competitive advantage. The paper proposes a decision matrix which takes into account all critical factors in ERP selection.
Analysis of Formation in Communicative Competences for the Medical Act in Universidad de Antioquia Medicine School Undergraduate Program  [PDF]
José Antonio García Pereá?ez
Journal of Biosciences and Medicines (JBM) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jbm.2016.412012
Abstract: This research study was conducted at the undergraduate program of the Medicine Faculty of Universidad de Antioquia. Its main purpose was to analyze the training in communication skills for the medical act. To this purpose, a triangulation between a representative survey of the students, some interviews and focal groups between students and professors, and an analysis of a curricular document on the contents of communication as a generic skill were done. This study allowed us to conclude that the definition of generic competence in communication cannot be established without the participation of the medicine curriculum actors, and that it is paramount to integrate this learning to this university program. The result of the present study is a proposal to include the communicative competence for the medical act in the curriculum of the Medicine Faculty of Universidad de Antioquia.
Ethical and Legal Arguments about Telemedicine in Colombia  [PDF]
José Antonio García Pereá?ez
Journal of Computer and Communications (JCC) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/jcc.2017.53013
This paper makes a reflection of humanistic approach about telemedicine in the cyber culture context, including a debate on the “digital era” and the nature of human communication. It is aimed at interpreting the influence of the technological era in the communication between the emitting subjects and receptors that emerge from communicative relations in telemedicine. This is the result of the analysis on legitimacy and legality of Communication for Health among individuals interacting in the cyberspace, mediated and conceived by modern technologies such as computer science, telematics and cybernetics. Telemedicine, according to ethical and legal proposals, can be subject of criticism because of the displacement of the medical doctor-patient relationship. Bigger distance and asymmetries in the medical act are established, being exposed to the inter-subjective relations of the cyberspace that immerses the patient into a deeper vulnerability, mediated by the technology that overflows him. A literature review through the empirical-analytical method, aimed at describing the impact of telemedicine in users, was done. This technology of recent use in Colombia promises to become a tool to support the solution of some health problems. Its development must be linked to the use of regulations that involve the “must be”, and its application must be decided according to legal principles that take on responsibility on medical doctors and technicians. The inevitable development of medical technology and its application in telemedicine may lead to the vulnerability of ethical principles, and consequently, the harm and misinterpretation of the medical act.

El bricolage geoeléctrico: un recurso de bajo coste en la prospección arqueológica de subsuelo
Pe?a, José Antonio,Esquivel, José Antonio
Trabajos de Prehistoria , 1995,
Abstract: We hare constructed, with D.I.Y. facilities, equipment for electrical survey. With the purpose of demonstrating its practical viability, a series of carefully programmed experiments have been carried out, followed by this suitable numerical treatment has allowed us to know the range of application of the equipment. The results obtained are valid and can be reproduced, so showing that with very limited equipment can be carried out geophysical survey useful to Archaeology through shallow electrical profiling.

ACIMED , 2011,
Abstract: the youths and screens (television, internet, video console, mobile devices) maintain an intensive and close coexistence. whereas the parents, professors and many specialist consider that relationships that youth show in face of screens are basically negative, the own youth think quite the contrary. screen phenomenology has leads to the construction of some scenarios of relation and coexistence and has produced a new leisure time very near of the frontiers of eyewitness and the virtual one. the way of to know, think, feel and relate of the youth, questioning the social and teaching function of socio-health and educational agents. we consider that it is urgent the design of audiovisual and multimedia literacy taking into account the criterion of the own youth. these growth scenarios are not free from conflicts, considered as the chance for growth. present paper is from as brief diagnosis of the situation and to propose intervention strategies.
Hirschman, la industrialización y la teoría del desarrollo
Ocampo,José Antonio;
Desarrollo y Sociedad , 2008,
Abstract: this essay analyzes three contributions of albert hirschman that are important to understand the latin american industrialization process. the first are the features of this process vis-à-vis the "late industrialization" cases in the european continent analyzed by alexander gerschenkron. the second relates to the application of his theories of the dynamics of development, particularly the concepts of linkages and imbalanced growth. the third is his reflection on the rise and decline of classical development economics, which seem particularly useful to understand the crisis and eventual dismantling of the import substitution strategy in latin america.
