Computational Molecular Bioscience (CMB) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/cmb.2018.81001
Abstract: With the goal of suggesting dual inhibitors of HIV reverse transcriptase (RT) and integrase (IN), herein we report the molecular docking of an initial set of 556 compounds related to the pyridinone class. Docking with multiple crystallographic structures of HIV-1 RT led to 160 potential binders of RT interacting with key amino acid residues at the enzyme’s allosteric site. Compounds selected from the docking with RT were further docked with a crystallographic structure of HIV-1 IN. A total of 31 structures had the potential to make contacts with Mg2+ ions located in a small space between DNA and IN. Interactions with Mg2+ ions are relevant because they participate in the stabilization of the IN-DNA complex. In conclusion, 31 compounds synthetically accessible are proposed as dual inhibitors of RT and IN. It is hypothesized that the suggested compounds will inhibit RT by occupying the allosteric site for NNRTIs and will inhibit the catalytic activity of IN by destabilizing the IN-DNA complex. The main perspective of this work is the synthesis and biological testing of the candidate molecules.
Molecular Modeling of Quinoline-Based Compounds as Potential Dual Inhibitors of Reverse Transcriptase and Integrase of HIV  [PDF]
Alberto Cabrera, Leonor Huerta Hernández, Daniel Chávez, José L. Medina-Franco
Computational Molecular Bioscience (CMB) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/cmb.2018.83007
Abstract: As follow-up of our past publication[1], we propose that quinolones (as part of the pyridinone family) are capable to increase the number of interactions with HIV reverse transcriptase (RT) or integrase (IN) by adding a halogen in position C-8 of aromatic portion of the quinolones. This addition could help with the activity of dual inhibitors of RT and IN. In this work, we add a chlorine atom with the rationale to identify in the docking simulations a halogen interaction with the oxygen in the near aminoacids in the binding pockets of RT and IN enzymes. Our docking studies started with RT and 320 structures. Later, we took 73 structures with good results in docking with RT. The structures that we choose contain ester or acids groups in C-3 due the structural similarity with groups in charge to interact with the Mg++ ions in Elvitegravir. In conclusion, we obtained 14 structures that could occupy the allosteric pocket of RT and could inhibit the catalytic activity of IN, for this reason could be dual inhibitors. A major perspective of this work is the synthesis and testing of the potential dual inhibitors designed.
Design and Implementation of an Advanced Security Remote Assessment System for Universities Using Data Mining
Hernández Aguilar, José Alberto;Burlak, Gennadiy;Lara, Bruno;
Computación y Sistemas , 2010,
Abstract: we develop the detailed application of the computer technology on testing the student's level of knowledge. we implemented a java original code, client-server technology based on the natural process of evaluation where the college students (clients) are tested for an examiner (server). later, we discuss the security measures implemented by leading suppliers of e-learning tools, and we distinguish an important opportunity area on the use of advanced security measures that we used to differentiate our tool. then, we present a data mining methodology to analyze activities of students in online assessments to detect any suspicious behavior (cheating), and show the results of applying it on a real class. finally, we propose an affordable biometric technology to recognize remote students in online assessments to solve the well-known problem of: "who's there".
= The "caxa entera" method of Juan Bautista de Herrera (1628): A particular overview of double-entry bookkeeping?

Juan Bautista de Herrera was an accountant of the Cathedral Council of Sevilla at the beginning of 17th century. In one of these books Herrera made an introduction explaining the usefulness of the double-entry bookkeeping method and argued how to implement it. The aim of this paper is to analyse his arguments using Bartolome Salvador de Solorzano′s approach. Solorzano wrote the first Spanish accounting treatise in 1590, where he compiled the characteristics and essence of Spanish double-entry bookkeeping in this period. Herrera recorded in this book without using a daybook.
Self-Association of Okadaic Acid: Structural and Pharmacological Significance
Patricia G. Cruz,Manuel Norte,Alberto Hernández Creus,José J. Fernández,Antonio Hernández Daranas
Marine Drugs , 2013, DOI: 10.3390/md11061866
Abstract: Okadaic acid (OA) has been an invaluable pharmacological tool in the study of cellular signaling. The great affinity of this polyether for its targets together with its high specificity to inhibit certain protein phosphatases enables the differential study of these proteins. Crystallographic structures of protein phosphatases in complex with OA show a 1:1 protein to toxin ratio. Nevertheless, it has been found that OA is able to self-associate under certain conditions although very little is known about the importance of this phenomenon. Here we review the available knowledge on the latter topic and we report on the existence of an unusual self-associated tetrameric form. The structure of these oligomers is proposed based on spectroscopic data and molecular modeling calculations.
On the Asymptotics of Stochastic Restrictions  [PDF]
José A. Hernández
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2016.64075
Abstract: This paper investigates inference methods to introduce prior information in econometric modelling through stochastic restrictions. The goal is to show that stochastic restrictions method estimator can be asymptotically more efficient than the estimator ignoring prior information and can achieve efficiency if prior information grows faster than the sample information in the asymptotics. The set up includes the nonlinear least squares and indirect inference estimators. The paper proposes a new indirect inference estimator that incorporates stochastic equality constraints on the parameters of interest. Finally, the proposed approach is applied to a macroeconomics model where high efficiency gains are shown.
