Inflation, Monetary Policy and Economic Growth in Mexico. An Inverse Causation, 1970-2009  [PDF]
Eduardo Loría, Jorge Ramírez
Modern Economy (ME) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/me.2011.25093
Abstract: It is demonstrated through an Structural Vector Auto Regression (SVAR) model which distinguishes short and long term effects, that the monetary policy implemented in Mexico (1970-2008) has been successful in reducing inflation at the cost of stagnation, especially after 2002. Inflation Targeting is contradictory in itself because, while it is efficient in improving transparency and credibility of the monetary policy, it does not solve the structural causes of inflation and conversely, increases the financial costs of economic agents.
Hepatotoxicity associated with the ingestion of Centella asiatica
Jorge,O. A.; Jorge,A. D.;
Revista Espa?ola de Enfermedades Digestivas , 2005, DOI: 10.4321/S1130-01082005000200006
Abstract: background: hepatotoxicity due to herbal remedies is being increasingly recognized. centella asiatica (centella asiatica linn urban) is commercialized for multiple conditions. its active principles are pentacyclic triterpenic saponosides (asiaticoside, madecassoside). clinical case studies: we present three women (61, 52 and 49 years old) who developed jaundice after taking centella asiatica for 30, 20 and 60 days. respective laboratory tests: alt: 1193, 1694 and 324 u/l; alp: 503, 472 and 484 u/l; bilirubin: 4.23, 19.89 and 3.9 mg/dl. the first patient also had asma 1/160 and ama 1/320. respective pathological diagnoses: granulomatous hepatitis with marked necrosis and apoptosis; chronic hepatitis with cirrhotic transformation and intense necroinflammatory activity, and granulomatous hepatitis. all patients improved with centella asiatica discontinuation, and ursodeoxycholic acid 10 mg/kg/day. the first patient took centella asiatica again, with recurrence of the damage. the second one had taken this herb a year before. conclusions: many plants synthesize hepatotoxic compounds. germander, skullcap and glycyrrhizin contain di- or triterpenic active principles, which can produce hepatic injury by promoting apoptosis and altering cell membranes. we hypothesize that these mechanisms may have resulted in injuries associated with centella asiatica. the presence of autoantibodies and granulomas also favors an immune-mediated mechanism. ursodeoxycholic acid has anti-apoptotic properties, but we cannot rule out that centella asiatica discontinuation alone may have resulted in patient improvement.

We describe its association with congenital hepatic fibrosis for the first time.

Thermal Decomposition of Diphenyl Tetroxane in Chlorobenzene Solution  [PDF]
Alexander G. Bordon, Andrea N. Pila, Mariela I. Profeta, María J. Jorge, Lilian C. Jorge, Jorge M. Romero, Nelly L. Jorge
International Journal of Organic Chemistry (IJOC) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/ijoc.2019.91001
Abstract: The thermal decomposition of Cyclic Diperoxide of Benzaldehyde 3,6-diphenyl-1,2,4,5-tetroxane, (DFT) in chlorobenzene solution in the studied temperature range (130°C - 166°C) satisfactorily satisfies a first order law up to 60% conversions of diperoxide. DFT would decompose through a mechanism in stages and initiated by the homolytic breakdown of one of the peroxidic bonds of the molecule, with the formation of the corresponding intermediate biradical. The concentration studied was very low, so that the effects of secondary reactions of decomposition induced by free radicals originated in the reaction medium can be considered minimal or negligible. The activation parameters for the unimolecular thermal decomposition reaction of the DFT are ΔH# = 30.52 ± 0.3 kcal·mol-1 and ΔS# = -6.38 ± 0.6 cal·mol-1 K-1. The support for a step-by-step mechanism instead of a process concerted is made by comparison with the theoretically calculated activation energy for the thermal decomposition of 1,2,4,5-tetroxane.

Império norte-americano e território no Brasil dos 80?s e 90?s: Uma leitura inspirada em Maria da Concei??o Tavares
Natal,Jorge L. A.;
EURE (Santiago) , 2002, DOI: 10.4067/S0250-71612002008400007
Abstract: two articles of maria da concei??o tavares ("the north american hegemonic returns" and "empire, territory and money") have inspired this article. based on them, this paper focuses on the return of north-american hegemony of the last 80?s and 90?s, showing their main spatials expressions in brazil. it is argued that in the present conditions, the "commitment deals" are being broken up between the empire?s interest (north-america) and some social actors (regional oligarchies, urban and country landowners). this process is taking place on a social tissue which is becoming more complex, due to the strengthens -in the city an country places- of some forces oriented against the secular domination game, that prevails over the country. in conclusion, the new dependence, that interlaces -in the country- local and worldwide money both internal and problematically, besides public finances, not only erodes the secular domination pact, but also promotes a new encounter between brazilian nation and it?s own territory
Estudio metodológico-comparativo de densidad mineral ósea de restos humanos por Absorciometría Fotónica (DXA)
Suby,Jorge A.;
Intersecciones en antropolog?-a , 2006,
Abstract: bone mineral density (bmd) has been identified as a one of the bone properties that mediate the action of agents and taphonomic processes (weathering, attrition, etc.) on archaeological assemblages. in recent years, several problems have been described for methods of bmd evaluation and their application in archaeology. in this paper, results are compared of two different photon abpsortiometric methods (dxa) to obtain bmd values. furthermore, their application is interpreted for two human bone assemblages from tierra del fuego. even though bmd information was interpreted in the past from many faunal assemblages, this kind of information has only been included in a few studies related to human remains that analyze bone structure as a taphonomic indicator. in this sense, the application of biomechanical information to human bone assemblages and their taphonomic interpretation are discussed.
Exploración de un modelo para estudiar evolución clínica en ni?os y púberes
Goldberg,Jorge A.;
Subjetividad y procesos cognitivos , 2010,
Abstract: this is a single case research aimed at studying clinical evolution in children. in this piece of work the following question is posed: is there a unique approach to clinical evolution? in this study we describe a course, a sequence which consists of three moments, from resistance to a moment of greater collaboration and psychological growth. the proposal originates in the study of the sample and requires evaluation in further studies.
