The Body Size and Some Field Notes of Painted Terrapin (Batagur borneoensis) in District of Aceh Tamiang, Indonesia

Abstract: From total 21 individuals of Painted Terrapin (Batagur borneoensis) found – accidentally caught and field survey – it can be concluded that female is heavier, wider and longer curve carapace than male. Male is experiencing sexual dichromatism during six months or from April to September. The movement of Painted Terrapin is related to tides and they are inhabit in rivers stream that has water salinity level is 0 and high density of Berembang (Sonneratia sp).
Flood Reduction Function of Paddy Rice Fields under Different Water Saving Irrigation Techniques  [PDF]

Abstract: This study is conducted to investigate the function of paddy fields for flood reduction under different water saving irrigation techniques. A daily water balance component data including rainfall, percolation, and overflow through the paddy field levee were collected from experimental paddy rice fields during rainy season cultivation. Results show that paddy field was very effective in flood reduction. More than 40% of rainfall could be stored in the paddy fields. However, the effectiveness of paddy fields in flood reduction was highly depends on the WSI technique used. Semi dry cultivation technique was the most effective one in terms of flood reduction. It retained the rainfall up to 55.7% (365 mm) of the total rainfall (636 mm) without reducing the yield. In terms of flood volume reduction, the alternate wetting and drying performed similarly with traditional continuous flooding, i.e., 37.2% and 40.8%, respectively.
Motivation and Performance of Beef Cattle Smallholder Farmers in Central Java Indonesia

Abstract: This research was conducted to describe the kind of motives as components of farmer s motivation which related to farmer s motivation to analyze the farmer s performance, i.e., the level of technology adoption and income and to determine the relationship between motivation and performance. The research was conducted by survey method. A fifty six beef cattle farmers in Manis Renggo, Klaten, Central Java as respondents, selected by multi stage method which combined by purposive sampling and simple random sampling methods. The data were collected using interview and questionaire as interview schedule and analized by descriptive statistics and Spearman s Rank Correlation. The results showed that 64.29% of total farmers had high motivation. There were positive correlation between farmers experience in cattle farming (r = 0.366), number of cattle raised (r = 0.462) and number of labors (0.265) with the level of motivation, respectively. The average of technology adoption rate of the farmers was 24.93%. It was concluded that motivation of cattle farming is physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging, esteem and self actualization. There were positive correlation between farmers experience in cattle farming, number of cattle raised, time alocation in cattle farming and number of labors. There were positive correlation between level of motivation and performance that is innovation adoption and income (r = 0.802 and 0.798, respectively).
Resolving longitudinal amplitude and phase information of two continuous data streams for high-speed and real-time processing

Abstract: Although there is an increase of performance in DSPs, due to its nature of execution a DSP could not perform high-speed data processing on a continuous data stream. In this paper we discuss the hardware implementation of the amplitude and phase detector and the validation block on a FPGA. Contrary to the software implementation which can only process data stream as high as 1.5 MHz, the hardware approach is 225 times faster and introduces much less latency.
Consumer Attitude Toward the Issue of Selling Beef Mixed with Boar Meat (Sus sucrofa) and the Intention to Purchase of Meat Consumers in Yogyakarta

Abstract: This research was aimed to explain the relationship between cognitive, affective and conative combined into the attitude components with the intention to purchase against the issue of mixed beef and boar meatselling in Yogyakarta. The sample of location was at Beringharjo market in which the issues of selling beef and boar meat was established. The research used survey method with interview and questionnaire whose validity and reliability had been proven. The sample of respondents was 80 buyers selected by purposive sampling method. The data were statistically tabulated and analyzed using Chi-square and Phi analyses. The results showed that most of the attitude components i.e. cognitive, affective and conative were classified in favorable category implying that the respondents were responsive and active to look for the information regarding the issue. There was dependent relationship between attitude of the respondents toward the mixed beef and boar meat selling and the intention to purchase it with weak relationship (Phi coefficient of 0.354). It was concluded that consumers’ attitude on the issue of circulation of beefmix with boar meat was to behave more consciously about the truth of the issue and to be worried about the mixed meat.Key Words: consumer’s attitude, purchasing intention, meat consumer
Root and Nodulation Phenotypes of the Ethylene-Insensitive Sickle Mutant of Medicago truncatula

Abstract: The sickle (skl) mutant of the model legume Medicago truncatula is an ethylene-sensitive mutant that have a ten-fold increase in nodule numbers. The nodulation and root phenotypes of the skl mutant were investigated and further characterised. The skl mutant had longer roots than the wild type, but when inoculated with Sinorhizobium, its root length was reduced to the level of wild type. Furthermore, lateral root numbers in uninoculated skl were similar to those in uninoculated wild type. However, when the root tips were decapitated, fewer lateral roots formed in skl than in wild type. Nodule numbers of the skl mutant were significantly reduced by low nitrate concentration (2.5 mM). These results suggest that skl mutant has alterations in both root and nodule development.

Abstract: The typical drawbacks that affect most Indonesian learners studying English as the target language concern the strategies in dealing with new dictions. The rule of thumb is that the learners are usually tempted to directly look up the meaning in a dictionary when other ways such as guessing the meaning from the context or by dissecting the words into smaller units so that they are able to get a hint from the base word cannot be engineered. As a result of this activity then, they miss crucial points in the realm of word enrichment. This article will shed some light on how to deal with new words and claim that it is not the meaning of a new word that should be the first priority.

Abstract: At the start we give a brief surveyof the relations of production in the currentdevelopment of human society. This is done fromthe standpoint of Marx's notion of productiverelations. Then we discuss about relations ofproduction in agriculture, addressed as agrarianrelations. They are very different from the relationsof production in other areas of the economy. Thisresults from the specificity of agriculture. Infeudalism, they are the essence of social relations.With the economic development their influence isdecreasing, but in capitalism they also have certaincharacteristics. Turkish military-feudal system wasthe essential feature of the Asian mode ofproduction. The Turkish occupation of Bosnia andHerzegovina lasted for more than four centuries.Military-feudal system was significantly differentfrom the feudalism of Western Europe. Statedisposition of land and appropriation of rents areincorporated into the strategy of conquest of newand preservation of the occupied territories.Islamization has contributed to strengthening andthe long duration of that system. The way ofappropriation of labor surplus significantly slowedthe economic development of Bosnia andHerzegovina. Austro-Hungarian occupationauthorities accounted for some positivedevelopments in agriculture, but did not abolishfeudal relations Agrarian reform (1919.-1931).removed from the feudal relations in agriculture,Bosnia and Herzegovina and created the initialconditions for the development of capitalism.
Technical Efficiency and Return to Scale of Dairy Farm in Sleman, Yogyakarta

Abstract: Usahatani sapi perah di Indonesia secara ekonomi mempunyai prospek yang bagus, karena produksinya belum mencukupi permintaan susu dalam negeri. Hal ini disebabkan usahatani tersebut masih berskala kecil dengan menggunakan teknologi yang masih tradisional, akibatnya tingkat produktivitasnya masih rendah. Kajian ini mengestimasi efisiensi teknis dan skala pengembalian, guna menemukan cara untuk meningkatkan produksi susu segar. Kajian ini mengambil tempat di Sleman, Jogjakarta tempat usahatani sapi perah yang potensial berada. Efisiensi teknis diestimasi menggunakan produksi frontir stokastik, dan skala pengembalian diestimasi menggunakan teknologi produksi Cobb-Douglas. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa produktivitas usahatani sapi perah secara signifikan dipengaruhi oleh variasi efisiensi teknis, dengan rata-rata 0,69. Oleh karena itu, masih ada kemungkinan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas usahatani sapi perah melalui peningkatan efisiensi teknis. Hal ini dapat dilakukan dengan meningkatkan jumlah sapi perah, atau skala usahatani. Pilihan ini sejalan dengan kondisi produksi susu segar yang menunjukkan skala pengembalian yang konstan. Jadi, meningkatkan skala usahatani adalah pilihan yang bijaksana karena pilihan tersebut tidak hanya meningkatkan tingkat produksi susu segar, tetapi juga meningkatkan produktivitas usahatani sapi perah. Odometer Digital untuk Kendaraan dengan Mikrokontroler MCS51

Abstract: Although cars are not so necessity and luxurious, most people around the world use it as their first equipment. It needs to take care of, so there won't be any damages. Unfortunately not all people always aware of this.To avoid this destruction we need a tool to remaind the owner so he/she can be more aware of this. Mostly the age of using the vehicle depends on how far the distance which its' reached. This process could be done by using an AT89C52 microcontroller and optocoupler. By converting its rotation into a value of distance, we can predicted when the car will need to be treat. When it's the time for it, so there will be a warning about that in the display. This system is also equipped with clock and memory that can be used to save the data of the treatment that have been done. This Odometer has a 16,6 cm x 11,2 cm x 5,1 cm in dimension, with 273,5 gram of weight and used 12V battery. This equipment can measure distance until 999.999.999,9 km and speed (0 km/h to 250 km/h). Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Meski kendaraan bermotor bukan merupakan kebutuhan pokok, hampir semua orang menggunakannya. Kendaraan bermotor perlu dirawat agar tidak mudah rusak. Akan tetapi tidak semua orang ingat waktu perawatan kendaraan bermotor. Untuk mencegah kerusakan maka diperlukan suatu sistem yang dapat mengingatkan pengguna kendaraan. Pada umumnya waktu perawatan kendaraan dilihat dari jarak yang ditempuh. Untuk itu digunakan mikrokontroler AT89C52 dan optocoupler. Dengan mengkonversi putaran menjadi jarak, maka waktu perawatan dapat diketahui. Apabila sudah mendekati waktu perawatan, maka akan diberikan suatu peringatan. Sistem ini juga dilengkapi dengan jam dan memory yang digunakan untuk menyimpan data-data perawatan yang dilakukan. Odometer ini memiliki dimensi 16,6 cm x 11,2 cm x 5,1 cm dengan berat 273,5 gram dan menggunakan baterai 12V. Odometer ini mampu mengukur jarak hingga 999.999.999,9 km dan kecepatan (0 km/jam sampai 250 km/jam). Kata kunci : Pengukur Jarak, Perawatan, Kendaraan.
