Marques Junior,Joilson Santana; Gomes,Romeu; Nascimento,Elaine Ferreira do;
Ciência & Saúde Coletiva , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-81232012000200024
Abstract: the study aims to examine the relationship between masculinity, vulnerability and the prevention of hiv/aids, based on reports from young men from the so-called urban working classes, taking into account not only the meanings attributed to prevention by these subjects, but also considering the dialectical relationship between the individual and society. the conceptual framework encompasses the three main aspects of hegemonic masculinity, prevention and vulnerability. this involves qualitative research based on the perspective of dialectical hermeneutics that uses the method of interpretation of meanings. the analysis yielded two main results, namely hegemonic masculinity as a vulnerability factor, and myths and prejudices as factors of vulnerability to hiv/aids. by way of conclusion, it reinforces the need for discussion of prevention encompassing the need to put on the agenda the construction of the sex/gender system around which to articulate the social meanings of masculinity and femininity that influence the structural plan of affective sexual relations in general and hiv/aids in particular.

Abstract: this study was conducted to evaluate the displacement and permanency patterns of grazing cattle on brachiaria decumbens deferred during 95 days under four strategies of nitrogen application (0-0, 0-100, 50-50, 100-0 kg n.ha-1), at the beginning and at the end of the rainy season. during the deferred period, in the dry season, forage yield, canopy structural characteristics, and displacement pattern were evaluated. four steers were used in ten grazing tests of 45 minutes and 14 heifers girolanda, monitored every 10 minutes during 24 hours, were used to evaluate the permanency time. pastures fertilized with 100 kg n at the end of the rainy season had higher herbage and leaf blade, sward surface height, extended leaf height, sward leaf blade bulk density and stem mass in all canopy layers. the lodging rates were higher for pastures fertilized at the end of the rainy season (0-100 and 50-50). more feeding stations and steps per minute were found in 0-100 and 50-50 fertilization strategies, due to greater difficulty in forage selection with higher degree of lodging. on the other hand, the numbers of bites per feeding station and per minute were lower for these strategies. the permanency time was greater on pastures where the fertilization was 100 kg n.ha-1 at the end of the rainy season (0-100). fertilization close to sealing period modify the displacement pattern of animals because the higher plants lodging making the animals to spend more time on pasture with greater density of leaf blade.
Diagnóstico das neuropatias periféricas aspectos gerais da popula??o em estudo: general characteristics of the population under study
Marques Júnior, Wilson;Barreira, Amilton Antunes;
Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria , 1992, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-282X1992000400004
Abstract: the objective of the present investigation was to study the general characteristics of a population of 209 patients with peripheral neuropathies seen tat the university hospital of ribeir?o preto from march 1985 to february 1987. few studies have been devoted to the evaluation of patients in order to investigate the factors that may or may not contribute to the diagnosis of these conditions. the types of neuropathy detected, were (in decreasing order of frequency) : polyneuropathies, mononeuropathies and multineuropathies. acquired forms were particularly outstanding in the first group and brachial plexus injuries in the second. mean patient age was 36.4 years (range: 18 days to 81 years). polyneuropathies prevailed among males and mononeuropathies among females, whereas multineuropathies equally affected males and females. patient follow-up was less than 6 months for 52.6% of cases and less than one year for 7.3%. the significance and importance of these findings are discussed.

Abstract: the intensive use of machines and agricultural equipments in the northeastearn s?o paulo state has contributed to increase the areas with compaction problems, probably due to the absence of a well-defined operation chronogram or of models capable of predicting the soil support capacity. this study was conducted in guariba (sp), with the objective of evaluating the spatial variability of the penetration resistance, soil moisture, and bulk density of a oxisol (rhodic eutrustox) under sugar-cane cultivation. the soils were sampled at the crossing points of a grid with regular 10 m intervals at depths of 0.0-0.2 m and 0.2-0.4 m. the coefficient of variation indicated low variability for soil moisture and bulk density of the soil at the depths 0.0-0.2 m and 0.2-0.4 m and a high variability for penetration resistance. strong spatial dependence was observed for all variables, except for bulk density in the 0.2-0.4 m layer, which presented moderate spatial dependence. the high values observed for soil penetration resistance and bulk density, mainly in the 0.2-0.4 m layer indicates compaction in this layer. small variations in the landscape forms can define different spatial variability for the soil physical attributes.
Taxa de desemprego e a escolaridade dos desempregados nos estados brasileiros: estimativas dinamicas de dados em painéis
Fraga, Gilberto J.;Dias, Joilson;
Economia Aplicada , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-80502007000300005
Abstract: the objective of this paper is to extend the unemployment theoretical model developed by marston (1985) and apply it to the brazilian states data. the main aspect of the proposed extension regards to the role exerted by the unemployed average human capital. as local attractive, the extended model considers the role of the average wage difference from the national and the economy structure. on the econometrics side, the main contribution regards to the dynamic panel data estimates that takes into consideration the endogeneity and omitted variables problems. the results are that the unemployed level of the education has a non-linear effect on the unemployment rate. for average levels of education above four years the education level led the unemployment rate to diminish. the state economy sector that helps to decrease the unemployment rate was the agricultural one, once the educations was accounted for.
Uma retomada da discuss?o sobre a sustentabilidade da política fiscal do Rio Grande do Sul
Marques Júnior, Liderau dos Santos;Jacinto, Paulo de Andrade;
Nova Economia , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-63512011000200004
Abstract: this paper investigates the sustainability of the fiscal policy in the state of rio grande do sul for two periods: 1970 to 1997 and 1970 to 2003. from 1970 to 2003, the fiscal policy was characterized by primary deficits and the accumulation of public debt. regardless of the deterioration of its tax situation, the state never determined the non-payment of its public debt, which suggests the sustainability of the fiscal policy during the two periods. co-integration tests support the evidence of sustainability during the periods in question.

Abstract: the precision agriculture implies an analysis of spatial variability of production factors and the inputs application of located form. there are several factors that cause spatial variability in soils; relief is one of the most important ones. the objective of this study was to analyze the spatial variability, the chemical attributes of the soil and the elaboration of maps necessity for input application of located form, in areas with different relief forms. two parcels of one hectare each were delimited in areas with concave and convex shaped topography. a set of 242 samples were collected from each area at 121 points in depths of 0.00-0.20 m and 0.20-0.40 m. the data were submitted to the descriptive statistical analyses, geostatistics and interpolation for kriging. the convex area presented more spatial variability of the soil in relation the concave area. the adoption of precision agriculture made it possible to save approximately 25 kg ha-1 of p2o5 in the concave area.
