Psychology (PSYCH) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2018.95057
Abstract: It is necessary to identify variables of Positive Psychology related to mental health and well-being. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify the relationship between gaudiebility and psychopathological symptoms in the Mexican population. The participants were 285 Mexicans between 14 and 78 years old. Gaudiebility was measured with the Gaudiebility Scale of Padrós & Fernández-Castro and psychopathological symptoms with the Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90). Results show a statistically significant and negative correlation (-.324, p < .001) in which the higher the gaudiebility, the lower the level of Global Severity Index. Although more research is needed, results suggest that the development of gaudiebility could be a protective factor for mental health.

Revista Cubana de Cirug?-a , 2005,
Abstract: in order to determine the conduct to be followed with the spontaneous pneumothorax, a descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study was undertaken among 125 patients with diagnosis of spontaneous pneumothorax that received attention at “comandante manuel fajardo” teaching hospital from january 1998 to july 2003. 62.4 % of the cases studied corresponded to primary pneumothorax and the rest to secondary pneumothorax. there was predominance of early ages and of males. the latter at a ratio of 14:1. the most reported symptoms were pain, dyspnea, and cough. 88,8 % of the patients were smokers. pleurotomy was the definitive treatment in 65.8 % of the patients and it was efficient in 85.6 %. thoracotomy was necessary in 29.4 % of the cases due to the presence of persistent, recidivant pneumothorax and bullae. there was no surgical mortality. we concluded that the conduct to be followed with pneumothorax depends on the magnitude, clinical repercussion, etiology, need to prevent relapse and the evaluation of the surgical risk
LA FUNDAMENTACIóN DE LAS SENTENCIAS Y LA SANA CRíTICA
González Castillo,Joel;
Revista chilena de derecho , 2006, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-34372006000100006
Abstract: the so-called system of legal or "assessed" evidence (prueba legal o tasada) is soon to be abandoned in chilean law. it is to be replaced by the so-called system of "sane criticism" (sana crítica), i.e. a judge-based assessment of the value of the evidence brought up in a particular trial. it is therefore more urgent than ever to determine what the sana crítica really is, which are its key elements, its limits and, most importantly, its relationship with the duty of the judges to ground o provide their sentences with enough motives. this article analyzes how the scholars, the caselaw and the law deal with this tool. finally, it criticizes the way the judges have been using the sana crítica
LAS CLáUSULAS LIMITATIVAS, EXONERATIVAS O AGRAVANTES DE RESPONSABILIDAD EN MATERIA CONTRACTUAL. VALIDEZ Y LíMITES
González Castillo,Joel;
Revista chilena de derecho , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-34372011000100005
Abstract: this article discusses modification of contractual responsibility clauses in its three variants, namely, exoneration, limitation and aggravation of liability. the study focuses on the first two provisions because they are the ones that have caused more doctrinal discussion. even some authors have asserted that exculpatory clauses would not be valid due to lack of consideration. the analysis covers the basis of these clauses, the objections that have been made regarding them, their classification, limits, effects and interpretation. consent of the weaker party in the context of pre-formulated standard contracts, where such clauses are used extensively, and known as "unfair terms" is discussed in the last part of the article with reference also to the directive of the european union that regulates them.

Abstract: abstract: the present article analyzes two recent sentences of the chilean constitutional court where property right violation was argued, among other aspects. it is an interdisciplinary approach, from civil and constitutional law, to such important civil right and also to other aspects of high relevance, such as sanctity of contracts to the legislator, the essence of rights, incorporeal property, non-retroactivity law, and unjust enrichment.
PRODUCTS LIABILITY IN EUROPE AND THE UNITED STATES*: RESPONSABILIDAD POR PRODUCTOS DEFECTUOSOS EN EUROPA Y ESTADOS UNIDOS
Joel González Castillo
Revista Chilena de Derecho : Publicado por la Facultad de Derecho Universidad Católica de Chile , 2012,
Abstract: This article examines three linked questions which are considered key elements for the configuration of a products liability system. First, defect categories, i.e., manufacturing defects, design defects, and insufficient warnings. Second, how to determine whether the design of a product is defective. Two possibilities become available at this point: consumer expectations test or risk-utility analysis. And, finally, whether to apply negligence or strict liability in cases of damages caused by defective products.

Reversible Immobilization of Chelating Affinity Surfactants on Reversed Phase Adsorbents for Protein and Peptide Separations under Metal Affinity Chromatography  [PDF]

American Journal of Analytical Chemistry (AJAC) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ajac.2014.514101
Abstract: Alkyl-bound silica was modified using chelating surfactants and the resulting adsorbent was used in immobilized metal affinity chromatography of proteins and peptides. Brij-76, a non-ionic amphiphilic surfactant with an alkyl moiety and an ethylene oxide chain, was reversible adsorbed to alkyl silica (C18). The hydroxyl group at the end of the ethylene oxide chain was chemically modified previously with an iminodiacetate functionality as chelating agent of transitional metal ions. Cu(II) was studied as immobilized ion for the adsorption of peptides and proteins. Three chromatographic supports were prepared having different Cu(II) capacities. For a low Cu(II) capacity case, the generated adsorbent behaved as a controlled access media preventing the adsorption of large molecular weight proteins, such as BSA, while small peptides, such as Angiotensin III, or amino acids could be retained. For a medium and high Cu(II) capacity, the synthesized adsorbent no longer behaved as a controlling access media and all molecules in this study, either large or small, were retained by the immobilized ion. Nonetheless, most of the BSA was strongly retained by the system and a pH change did not remove any of the adsorbed BSA while the small molecules were removed by the same pH change.
