Abstract: introduction: congenital radiocubital synostosis (crs) is a rare deformity characterized by a merger between radius and cubit, resulting in a ?xed position of the forearm, which may limit the performance of simple daily activities. this condition can be associated with other malformations or genetic syndromes. congenital agenesis of depressor anguli oris muscle is also a rare condition and may also be associated with other malfor-mations. case report: the authors describe the case of a seven year-old girl with bilateral crs and congenital agenesis of left depressor anguli oris muscle. the rarity of these entities and of their association prompted the authors to report this case. conclusion: paediatricians and orthopaedists should be aware of the need of investigation genetic syndrome association, other organ anomalies and inheritance pattern.
Channels as Objects in Concurrent Object-Oriented Programming

Abstract: There is often a sort of a protocol associated to each class, stating when and how certain methods should be called. Given that this protocol is, if at all, described in the documentation accompanying the class, current mainstream object-oriented languages cannot provide for the verification of client code adherence against the sought class behaviour. We have defined a class-based concurrent object-oriented language that formalises such protocols in the form of usage types. Usage types are attached to class definitions, allowing for the specification of (1) the available methods, (2) the tests clients must perform on the result of methods, and (3) the object status - linear or shared - all of which depend on the object's state. Our work extends the recent approach on modular session types by eliminating channel operations, and defining the method call as the single communication primitive in both sequential and concurrent settings. In contrast to previous works, we define a single category for objects, instead of distinct categories for linear and for shared objects, and let linear objects evolve into shared ones. We introduce a standard sync qualifier to prevent thread interference in certain operations on shared objects. We formalise the language syntax, the operational semantics, and a type system that enforces by static typing that methods are called only when available, and by a single client if so specified in the usage type. We illustrate the language via a complete example.

Abstract: this paper aims at contributing for the discussions around the processes of supervision and professional knowledge, through the analysis of posters produced by the teachers involved in the first edition of the teachers' probation period in portugal. we took as a reference for our analysis the aims of the training program: the relevance of the supervision process; the centrality of reflection and the relation to professional knowledge and development. in the discussion of the findings we highlight: the importance attributed to the supervision process, stressing the relevance of the relational dimension within this process. the findings related to the centrality of reflexivity within the process are less expressive. concerning professional knowledge we highlight the predominant use of the following dimensions: knowledge about content, curriculum, didactics, pedagogical and reflexive. scientific knowledge is the least used.

Abstract: this article explores the following factors of intervention: the professional composition of the social programs aimed at families, the new focus on the family in social policies and supervision by multi-disciplinary teams. it is based on an analysis of recent federal programs: the integral family attention program and the family health program. it reviews the supervision without presenting a strictly theoretical approach or a list of field procedures. the family is considered as a social institution undergoing a permanent change of formats and meanings that require reflection and the continuous education of social professionals.

Abstract: No presente texto procura-se contribuir para a discuss o dos processos de supervis o e de constru o do conhecimento profissional, a partir da apresenta o da análise dos postersp stereselaborados pelos professores envolvidos no programa de Supervis o, Acompanhamento e Avalia o do Período Probatório de Professores. Na análise retomaram-se os objectivos da forma o em supervis o concebida e implementada no ambito do programa: a relevancia do processo supervisivo; a centralidade da reflex o; a rela o com o conhecimento e desenvolvimento profissional. Na discuss o dos resultados destaca-sea importancia atribuída ao processo supervisivo, refor ando a relevancia da dimens o relacional neste processo. Menos expressivos s o os resultados relativos à centralidade da reflex o no processo em análise. No que diz respeito ao conhecimento profissional destacou-se o uso predominante das dimens es relativas ao conhecimento do conteúdo, do currículo, didático, pedagógico e reflexivo. A dimens o relativa ao conhecimento científico foi a menos comum. El presente texto pretende contribuir con la discusión de los procesos de supervisión y de construcción del conocimiento profesional, a partir de la presentación del análisis de los posters que los profesores participantes produjeron en la primera implementación del período probatorio en Portugal. En dicho análisis se retoman los objetivos de la formación: la importancia del proceso de supervisión, la centralidad de la reflexión y la relación con el conocimiento y desarrollo profesional. En la discusión de los resultados se destaca: la importancia atribuida a la supervisión, subrayando la relevancia de la dimensión relacional. Los resultados relacionados con la centralidad de la reflexión son menos expresivos. Con relación al conocimiento profesional se distingue el uso predominante de las dimensiones relativas al conocimiento del contenido, del currículo, del ámbito didáctico, pedagógico y reflexivo. La dimensión relativa al conocimiento científico ha sido la menos común. Abstract: mesenteric inflammatory venooclusive disease is a rare cause of intestinal ischemia. diagnosis is based on the demonstration of inflammation of mesenteric veins, without concomitant involvement of the arterial system. the authors describe the clinical case of a patient admitted with an intestinal obstruction, submitted to colonoscopy which showed edema of the mucosa and decrease of the distensibility of sigmoid and descendent. radiological study revealed an irregular stenosis suggestive of a tumor. biopsy was inconclusive. a segmental resection of involved bowel was performed and histological examination of the ressected specimen has shown alterations compatible with venooclusive disease. good clinical evolution was verified. we discuss the main aspects of the therapeutic and diagnosis.

Abstract: the objective of this study is to identify which is the best nursing intervention strategy to promote treatment management in patients with obstructive chronic pulmonary disease in the hospital setting. an integrative literature review was performed for the years 2006 to 2009. the data analysis revealed that the studies used different elements and specific effectiveness indicators to evaluate the intervention strategies that were addressed. based on current evidence, it is not possible to identify the best strategy. the present review points out the need to define more consensual outcome indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of intervention strategies. hence, it is necessary to develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing intervention strategies, turning to those indicators, to define the best evidenced-based intervention strategy.
