Electromagnetic and Microwave Absorption Properties of Carbonyl-Iron/Fe91Si9 Composites in Gigahertz Range  [PDF]

Abstract: Carbonyl-iron/Fe91Si9 composites for thin microwave absorbers were firstly prepared by a simple blending technique. The patterns of carbonyl-iron and Fe91Si9 were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The complex permittivity, permeability and microwave absorption properties of the composites were studied in the frequency range of 2 - 7GHz by a HP8720B vector network analyzer. Complex permittivity and permeability decrease gradually with increasing weight percentage of Fe91Si9 in the composites, the variation of permittivity was very large but the variation of permeability was very small. The composites exhibited excellent microwave absorption properties with increasing Fe91Si9 content. The reflection loss (RL) values less than –20 dB were obtained in the 3.7 - 6.7 GHz frequency range for the paraffin matrix composites with 80 wt% carbonyl-iron/Fe91Si9 powders (weight ratio of carbonyl-iron to Fe91Si9 was 1:1), with thickness of 4.0 - 2.4 mm, respectively. The optimal RL of –45 dB was observed at 5.2 GHz with a matching thickness (dm) of 3.0 mm. The excellent microwave absorption properties were attributed to a better electromagnetic impedance match and a higher electric resistivity.

Abstract: The mineral inclusions in accessory minerals of the country gneisses have been studied in order to interpret relation between eclogites and their country gneissic rocks. Omphacite inclusions have been identified in titanite and zircon, which indicates that the present mineral assemblages of country gneisses are the last retrograded assemblages and eclogites and their country gneissic rocks probably have a same metamorphic history.

Abstract: With the problems of high speed and asynchronism in a multi-channel video, a video monitor system based on FPGA and SRAM is designed and implemented. The system adopts the method of time-division multiplexing to realize the function of four-channel video parallel acquisition. The synchronization between four-channel video is achieved by using the field-selected algorithm. The four-channel video can be outputted to LCD with the technique of ping-pang cache. The LCD display sequences are generated by the finite state machine using Verilog HDL. The system is simple, flexible and with high-quality, and it has a broad application prospect.

Abstract:
Soil quality assessment is essential to improve the understanding of soil quality and make proper agricultural practices. However, soil quality assessments are extremely difficult to implement in a large-scale area, since they are time and labor consuming. Remote sensing technique gained more attention in plant and soil information monitoring recently for its high effi-ciency and convenience. But seldom studies tested the applicability of remote sensing techniques before implementing. This study conducted the soil quality assessment in a typical agricultural county in the Yellow River delta (Kenli). We found the soil quality in Kenli was dominantly in the low grade (71.85%), with deficient nutrient (SOM and TN), poor structure (high BD) and high EC. Salinity is the primary limiting factor for soil quality in Kenli, and adjustment of soil salinization through suitable farming practices such as organic fertilizers application, irrigation for leaching, and salt-tolerant crop planting is the key point for soil quality improvement. We obtained the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) of the study area by remote sensing technique, and found the high correlation between NDVI and soil quality indicator (SOM, TN and EC) and yield. The NDVI can help to study the soil conditions as a soil quality assessment indicator. More studies about the ap-plication of remote sensing technique on soil quality detecting are expected.

Abstract: Family background can influence an individual’s access to educational resources. Specifically, an advantaged family background can promote an individual’s access to educational resources. This study constructs a model to analyze the impact of the economic, social and cultural capital of Chinese families on their children’s education. The results show that all three types of capital have significant effects on individual education but a family’s cultural capital has the strongest effect. Furthermore, the father’s background influences a child’s education more than the mother’s for all three types of capital. The present study affirms the importance of the resource-centered conception of economic, social and cultural capital that significantly influences inequality as a predominant issue in China.

Abstract: Hualiangting whiteschist in the Dabie Shan ultrahigh-pressure eclogite complex is a specific Mg-Al- rich metamorphic rock. Its protolith was a felsic dyke, which suffered replacement by high-pressure fluids during eclogite-facies metamorphism. Based on fluid inclusion results in whiteschist, primary high-pressure fluids are CO2-bearing aqueous solutions. Those prove that there exists CO2-H2O fluid during the ultrahigh-pressure metamorphism. Pseudosecondary H2O inclusions were trapped during ultrahigh-pressure exhumation, whereas secondary H2O inclusions were related to the latest evolutionary stage of the ultrahigh-pressure exhumation.
