A Study of Optimizing Spatial Structure for Urban Under Ecological Approach:A Case of Jiulongpo District in Chongqing

Abstract: Along with the highly speedy urbanization and the industrialization in china, the disordered land utilization has led to land overuse and ecological destruction. However, the city planning and ecosystem proect planning have grown according to rules oneself. the contradictionbetween economic growth and ecological protection is more evident than ever before. The ecological feasible space for urban development was established based on GIS methodology, combining an ecological function regionalization approach and a economic development feasibility analysis technique. Accordingly, urban spatial structure could be divided into four types, consisting of forbidden construction zone, restricted construction zone, preferential construction zone and primary construction zone. The integrated method for a case study on Jiulongpo district, Chongqing showed that the areas of these four categories of Jiulongpo accounted of 15.54%,24.14%,12.95%and 47.37% respectively. Demonstrational analysis shows that the essence of urban planning founding on ecological priority benefits to natural reconstruction and reservation; the spatial layout based on the ecology analysis safeuards the healthily and sustainable development of city ecosystem.The methodology was valuable for reducing ecological risks and environmental impacts of urban master plan, and thus was relevant for promoting the national campaign of strategic environmental assessment. The study was guide to city planning and ecological protection planning.
The synergistic effect of cigarette taxes on the consumption of cigarettes, alcohol and betel nuts

Abstract: To discourage consumption of cigarettes, the government of Taiwan has imposed three taxes over the last two decades. It now wishes to lower consumption of betel nuts. To assist in this effort, our study poses two questions: 1) Will the imposition of an NT$10 Health Tax on cigarettes effectively reduce cigarette consumption? and 2) Will this cigarette tax also reduce consumption of alcoholic beverages and betel nuts? To answer these questions, we analyze the effect of the NT$10 tax on overall cigarette consumption as well as the cross price elasticities of cigarettes, betel nuts, and alcoholic beverages.To establish the Central Bureau of Statistics demand function, we used cigarette, betel nut, and alcoholic beverage price and sales volume data for the years 1972–2002. To estimate the overall demand price elasticity of cigarettes, betel nuts, and alcoholic beverages, we used a seemingly unrelated regression analysis.We find that the NT$10 health tax on cigarettes will reduce cigarette consumption by a significant 27.22%. We also find that cigarettes, betel nuts, and alcoholic beverages have similar inherent price elasticities of -0.6571, -0.5871, and -0.6261 respectively. Because of this complementary relationship, the NT$10 health tax on cigarettes will reduce betel nut consumption by 20.07% and alcohol consumption by 7.5%.The assessment of a health tax on cigarettes as a smoking control policy tool yields a win-win outcome for both government and consumers because it not only reduces cigarette consumption, but it also reduces betel nut and alcoholic beverage consumption due to a synergistic relationship. Effects of Liangxue Jiedu Decoction in treating psoriasis in a mouse psoriasis model

Abstract: Objective: To study the effects of Liangxue Jiedu Decoction, a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine with the function of blood-cooling and detoxicating, in treating psoriasis in mice and to explore its mechanism.Methods: (1) Sixty mice were randomly divided into Liangxue Jiedu Decoction group, compound Indigo Naturalis capsule group, acitretin capsule group and normal saline group. Another 10 mice were selected as blank control. After 2-week administration, mice were sacrificed to obtain samples. After hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining, tail scales with granular layers were calculated by an optical microscope. (2) Except for ten mice in blank group, sixty female mice were injected intraperitoneally with diethylstilbestrol once daily. After 3-day injection, mice were randomly divided into four groups and treated as above description. After 2-week treatment, all mice were injected intraperitoneally with colchicine (2 mg/kg), and sacrificed 6 h after the injection. The mitotic rate in virginal epithelium was calculated after HE staining.Results: Compared with normal saline, Liangxue Jiedu Decoction could significantly inhibit the mitosis of mouse vaginal epithelium (P<0.01) and promote the formation of granular layers in mouse tail-scale epidermis (P<0.01).Conclusion: The mechanism of Liangxue Jiedu Decoction in treating psoriasis may be related to promoting granular cell growth and inhibiting proliferation of epidermic cells.

Abstract: In the title compound, C6H7ClN+·BF4 ·C12H24O6, the complete cation is generated by crystallographic mirror symmetry, with two C atoms and the N and Cl atoms lying on the mirror plane. The complete crown ether is also generated by mirror symmetry, as is the anion (in which the B and two F atoms lie on the mirror plane). The –NH3+ group of the cation inserts into the crown-ether ring and forms bifurcated N—H...(O,O) hydrogen bonds. The H atoms of the –NH3+ group were modelled as disordered across the mirror plane.

Abstract: The patterns of effective pollen dispersal and the relationships between pollen dispersal and genetic composition in Pinus koraiensis are still unclear. Hence, we investigated the mode of pollen dispersal of P. koraiensis in a clonal seed orchard in Lushuihe Forestry Bureau, Jilin Province, using SSR molecular markers tech-nique and the method of maximum likelihood. A total of 13 pairs of nuclear microsatellites po-lymorphic primers were used in the paternity analysis. We analyzed 100 progenies and 150 paternities. A total of 56 alleles were detected in 13 loci with 3-6 alleles (4.3 alleles in average) in a single locus. The primers of SsrPt_ctg7170 and SsrPt_ctg5333 had the maximum (6) and the minimum (3) alleles, respectively. The averaged values of observed heterozygosity, expected heterozygosity and polymorphism information content of experimental groups were 0.648, 0.601 and 0.533, respectively. The mating dis-tance of P. koraiensis followed an approximately normal distribution. The most effective pollen for the female parent came from male parent trees 15-45 m away with an average mating dis-tance of 32.60 m and the longest of 67.88 m. The pollen source of offspring was not random but greatly affected by the wind direction during the pollination season of P. koraiensis. These re-sults have important implications for seed or-chard design to improve the genetic quality of seeds and seed production.
Enhanced Succinic Acid Production from Sake Lees Hydrolysate by Dilute Sulfuric Acid Pretreatment and Biotin Supplementation  [PDF]

Abstract: Succinic acid is valued as a potential starting point for the production of chemicals of the C4 family or in the prepara-tion of biodegradable polymers. For sustainable development in this era of petroleum shortage, production of succinic acid by microbial fermentation of renewable feedstock has attracted great interest. In this study, pretreatment with sulfuric acid and biotin supplementation were used to enhance succinic acid production by Actinobacillus succinogenes 130Z from sake lees, a byproduct of Japanese rice wine. Pretreatment with sulfuric acid resulted in little change of glucose, total nitrogen and succinic acid content in the sake lees hydrolysate but had a positive effect on succinic acid fermentation, which caused a 25.0% increase in succinic acid yield in batch fermentation. Biotin supplementation was used to further enhance the fermentability of sake lees hydrolysate. As a result, a 30 h batch fermentation of 0.5% sulfuric acid pretreated sake lees hydrolysate with 0.2 mg/L biotin gave a succinic acid yield of 0.59 g/g from 61.6 g/L of glucose, with a productivity of 1.21 g/(L?h). A 22.9% increase in succinic acid yield and a 101.7% increase in succinic acid productivity were obtained compared with untreated sake lees hydrolysate.
High-resolution short time interval measurement system implemented in a single FPGA chip

Abstract: This study proposes a high-resolution short time interval measurement system based on the Vernier delay line (VDL) method. It should be noted that the programmable delay elements (PDEs) in the Xilinx field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) provide a novel realization of delay lines. The delay lines can provide an accurate delay difference of 50 ps, which is process, voltage and temperature (PVT) invariant. An excellent consistency for the delay lines can be achieved by adjusting the timing and layout to minimize the measurement errors. The resolution achieved was 58 ps. Experimental results indicate a measurement standard deviation of 36 ps, a differential nonlinearity (DNL) of 36 ps and integral nonlinearity (INL) of 14 ps. The system features high accuracy, easy implementation and low cost.

Abstract: We propose two schemes of quantum secure direct communication (QSDC) combined ideas of user authentication Phys. Rev. A 73(2006)042305] and direct communication with dense coding Phys. Rev. A. 68(2003)042317]. In these protocols, the privacy of authentication keys and the properties of the EPR pairs not only ensure the realization of identity authentication but also further improve the security of communication, and no secret messages are leaked even if the messages were broken.
Prosodic Recitation of Chinese and Two-code Cognition of Language

Abstract: Prosodic recitation of Chinese can promote the function of both left cerebrum and right cerebrum of the brain. It is a scientific teaching methodology, which can effectively enhance students' ability to comprehend and express in teaching Chinese as a mother tongue or as a foreign language. The recitation based on the sequence of syllables of the text is called single code cognition, while the prosodic recitation based on the integration of both the text ("zili") and context ("ziwai") is called two code cognition. The single code recognition is the basis of prosodic recitation, while deep comprehension of the content of the work is a prerequisite to prosodic recitation. Through reciting by integrating "zili" code and "ziwai" code, it is possible to recover all the original information of the work completely. This theory will develop and promote what is called Chinese recitation teaching methodology.
