Relative Property (T) for Topological Groups  [PDF]

Abstract: In this paper, we investigate Kazhdan’s relative Property (T) for pairs\"\" , where \"\" is a topological group and \"\" is any subset of \"\" . We show that the pair \"\" has Property (FH) and every function conditionally of negative type on \"\" is X-bounded if the pair \"\" has relative Property (T). We also prove that \"\" has Property (T) when\"\"is a s -compact locally compact group generated by its subgroups\"\" and the pair\"\" has relative Property (T) for all\"\" .

Abstract: Mobile Agent is a kind of novel agent technology characterized by mobile, intelligent, parallel and asynchronous computing. In this paper, a new information service model that adopts mobile agent technology is introduced first, and then an experimental system DOLTRIA system that is implemented based on the model is described. The DOLTRIA system implemented by WWW framework and Java can search for relevant HTML documents on a set of Web servers. The result of experiments shows that performance implemented can be achieved by this model, and both the elapsed time and network traffic are reduced significantly.

Abstract: 在基于分布源边界点法的近场声全息理论基础上,提出采用Landweber 迭代正则化方法稳定近场声全息重建过程,控制测量误差对重建结果的影响,确保重建结果的有效性.提出一种用于确定最优迭代次数的方法—辅助面选取法,通过计算各次迭代所获得的辅助面上声压值与测量值之间相对误差的最小值来选取最佳迭代次数,从而达到最佳的正则化效果.对实际声源的实验研究,一方面说明了测量误差对重建结果影响的严重性,另一方面也验证了提出的最优迭代次数选取方法的有效性,及采用Landweber 迭代正则化方法控制近场声全息重建误差影响的有效性.
Application and Generalization of Eigenvalues Perturbation Bounds for Hermitian Block Tridiagonal Matrices  [PDF]

The paper contains two parts. First, by applying the results about the eigenvalue perturbation bounds for Hermitian block tridiagonal matrices in paper [1], we obtain a new efficient method to estimate the perturbation bounds for singular values of block tridiagonal matrix. Second, we consider the perturbation bounds for eigenvalues of Hermitian matrix with block tridiagonal structure when its two adjacent blocks are perturbed simultaneously. In this case, when the eigenvalues of the perturbed matrix are well-separated from the spectrum of the diagonal blocks, our eigenvalues perturbation bounds are very sharp. The numerical examples illustrate the efficiency of our methods.

Relationships between tree-ring width index and NDVI of grassland in Delingha

Abstract: Using five well-replicated Qilian juniper (Sabina przewalskii Kom.) tree-ring width index series, monthly normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) of grassland, and climatic data from 1982 to 2001, the relationships between tree-ring width index, NDVI of grassland, and climatic data were analyzed firstly. Then, the relationship between tree-ring width index and NDVI of grassland was explored. The results showed that: (1) Temperature and precipitation in June influenced tree-ring width index and NDVI of grassland deeply in Delingha. (2) There were significant relationships between five tree-ring width index series (DLH1-DLH5) and monthly NDVI of grassland from June to September, with the most significant relationship being between tree-ring width index series and NDVI of grassland in August. (3) The PC1 (the first principal component derived from DLH1-DLH5 series) exhibited good agreement with monthly NDVI of grassland in the grass growth season (from June to September) and the averaged NDVI in the growth season, which was attributed to their common responses to water-supply limit in Delingha. This study may allow an increase in studying the past dynamics of grassland in Delingha in that the variation of grassland NDVI during the last millennium has been reconstructed from PC1.

Optimization of dividend and reinsurance strategies under ruin probability constraint

Abstract: This paper considers nonlinear regular-singular stochastic optimal control of large insurance company. The company controls the reinsurance rate and dividend payout process to maximize the expected present value of the dividend pay-outs until the time of bankruptcy. However, if the optimal dividend barrier is too low to be acceptable, it will make the company result in bankruptcy soon. Moreover, although risk and return should be highly correlated, over-risking is not a good recipe for high return, the supervisors of the company have to impose their preferred risk level and additional charge on firm seeking services beyond or lower than the preferred risk level. These indeed are nonlinear regular-singular stochastic optimal problems under ruin probability constraints. This paper aims at solving this kind of the optimal problems, that is, deriving the optimal retention ratio,dividend payout level, optimal return function and optimal control strategy of the insurance company. As a by-product, the paper also sets a risk-based capital standard to ensure the capital requirement of can cover the total given risk, and the effect of the risk level on optimal retention ratio, dividend payout level and optimal control strategy are also presented.
Theoretical and numerical Analysis on Optimal dividend policy of an insurance company with positive transaction cost and higher solvency

Abstract: Based on a point of view that solvency and security are first, this paper considers regular-singular stochastic optimal control problem of a large insurance company facing positive transaction cost asked by reinsurer under solvency constraint. The company controls proportional reinsurance and dividend pay-out policy to maximize the expected present value of the dividend pay-outs until the time of bankruptcy. The paper aims at deriving the optimal retention ratio, dividend payout level, explicit value function of the insurance company via stochastic analysis and PDE methods. The results present the best equilibrium point between maximization of dividend pay-outs and minimization of risks. The paper also gets a risk-based capital standard to ensure the capital requirement of can cover the total given risk. We present numerical results to make analysis how the model parameters, such as, volatility, premium rate, and risk level, impact on risk-based capital standard, optimal retention ratio, optimal dividend payout level and the company's profit.
A Novel Half-Bridge Power Supply for High Speed Drilling Electrical Discharge Machining  [PDF]

Abstract: High Speed Drilling Electrical Discharge Machining (HSDEDM) uses controlled electric sparks to erode the metal in a work-piece. Through the years, HSDEDM process has widely been used in high speed drilling and in manufacturing large aspect ratio holes for hard-to-machine material. The power supplies of HSDEDM providing high power applica-tions can have different topologies. In this paper, a novel Pulsed-Width-Modulated (PWM) half-bridge HSDEDM power supply that achieves Zero-Voltage-Switching (ZVS) for switches and Zero-Current-Switching (ZCS) for the dis-charge gap has been developed. This power supply has excellent features that include minimal component count and inherent protection under short circuit conditions. This topology has an energy conservation feature and removes the need for output bulk capacitors and resistances. Energy used in the erosion process will be controlled by the switched IGBTs in the half-bridge network and be transferred to the gap between the tool and work-piece. The relative tool wear and machining speed of our proposed topology have been compared with that of a normal power supply with current limiting resistances.
