Precise identification of photosynthetic glycerolipids in microalga Tetraselmis chuii by UPLC-ESI-Q-TOF-MS

Abstract: Precise structural identification of photosynthetic polar glycerolipids in microalga Tetraselmis chuii has been established using Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography-Electrospray ionization-Quadrupole-Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry (UPLC-ESI-Q-TOF-MS) by direct analysis of the total lipids extract. The mass spectrometry was performed in reflective time-of-flight using electron spraying ionization in both positive and negative modes. The structural determination was based on the characteristic product ions yielded by different glycerolipids under ESI-MS/MS mode, and confirmed the molecular species by the carboxylate anions produced by glycerolipids in the negative mode. As a result, more than 40 lipid molecular species, including 11 monogalactosyldiacylglycerols (MGDG), 7 digalactosyldiacylglycerols (DGDG), 16 sulfoquinovosyldiacylglycerols (SQDG), and 9 phosphatidylglycerols (PG), were detected in Tetraselmis chuii, which had never been identified before in this microalga. Furthermore, some intact lipid molecules with hydroxylated fatty acids that could not be detected by the traditional GC-MS method were found this time, providing novel information for the photosynthetic lipidome of Tetraselmis chuii. Comparative studies on fatty acids at the sn-2 position showed that SQDG and MGDG are dominantly biosynthesized through the prokaryotic pathway, PG is a typically mixed biosynthetic pathway, while DGDG is somewhat peculiar with C14:0 and C16:0 at its sn-2 position. This method could provide a full structural profile of intact photosynthetic lipid molecular species, which may be applied to study the physiological and ecological functions of lipid by monitoring their individual changes.

Power Aware Job Scheduling with QoS Guarantees Based on Feedback Control

Abstract: With the scale of computing system increases, system performance and reliability, described by various Quality of Service(QoS) metrics, cannot be guaranteed if only the objective is to minimize the total power consumptions separately, despite of the violations of QoS. In this paper a feedback control based power aware job scheduling algorithm is proposed to minimize power consumption in computing system and to provide QoS guarantees. In the proposed algorithm, jobs are scheduled according to the real-time and historical power consumption as well as the QoS requirements. Simulations show that the proposed algorithm can reduce power consumptions significantly while still providing QoS guarantees and the performance degradation is acceptable. The results also show that fine-grained job-level power aware scheduling can achieve better power/performance balancing between multiple processors or cores than coarse-grained methods. And the results also suggest that conventional hardware based per-component and system-wide power management methods can save more power consumptions if they are in assistance with job-level adaptation.

Abstract: X-ray diffraction profiles of various deformed steel 1Cr18Ni9 through stepped scanning were obtained.By profile analysis,some structure parameters such as effective domain size D_(eff), dislocation density in domain,distribution parameterand bulk stored energy densiy (E/V),etc.,were obtained.The results were compared with those of TEM observation.The true domain sizes D_e are comparable,but the minimum and characteristics of width of stack- ing fault are different.This may be resulted from the large fluctuation in width of stacking fault.
Enhanced inflammatory responses to toll-like receptor 2/4 stimulation in type 1 diabetic coronary artery endothelial cells: the effect of insulin

Abstract: We tested the hypothesis that diabetic CAECs have enhanced inflammatory responses to TLR2/4 stimulation. Non-diabetic and diabetic CAECs were treated with TLR2 agonist peptidoglycan and TLR4 agonist lipopolysaccharide. The expression of ICAM-1, IL-6 and IL-8 were analyzed by real-time PCR, immunoblotting and ELISA, and NF-κB activation by immunoblotting and immunostaining. In additional experiments, insulin was added before TLR stimulation to determine whether insulin deficiency alone is responsible for the alteration of TLR2/4-mediated inflammatory responses.Stimulation of TLR2 or TLR4 induced NF-κB activation, and the expression of ICAM-1, IL-6 and IL-8. Interestingly, the expression of inflammatory mediators was significantly enhanced in diabetic cells. The enhanced inflammatory responses correlated with augmented NF-κB activation in the absence of a change in TLR2 or TLR4 protein levels. Further, pretreatment of diabetic cells with insulin failed to suppress the enhanced inflammatory responses.Diabetic CAECs have enhanced inflammatory responses to stimulation of TLR2 or TLR4, and insulin alone is insufficient to correct the hyper-inflammatory responses. The mechanism underlying the enhanced inflammatory responses appears to be augmentation of pro-inflammatory signaling, rather than up-regulation of levels of TLR2 and TLR4. These findings suggest that diabetic CAECs adopt a hyper-inflammatory phenotype and that this endothelial phenotypic change may predispose coronary artery to atherogenesis.Growing evidence supports an important role for vascular local inflammation in the development and progress of atherosclerosis [1-3]. Abstract: 本研究考察了一岁半到五岁半儿童工具行为发展及其与言语发生和主客体分化的关系。结果表明:使用直接性工具能力的出现几乎与言语发生和主客体分化同步,使用间接性工具的能力则晚出得多,要到三岁至四岁。这意味着:(1)当代人学研究起点应当从“直接工具行为×言语发生×主客体分化”后移。(2)三岁半左右是儿童智力发展超出动物水平的转折期,也是导入间接性工具游戏和训练的最佳年龄。(3)“智力重演说”与“自智人或晚期直立人起人类才有口语”的推测是互相排除的。

Abstract: The investigation on the growth of Pseudomonas sp. and the dynamics of its fatty acids under various culture conditions indicated that the optimum temperature for its growth was 30 degrees C, and the best carbon source was starch. 13 kinds of fatty acids were detected, among which, c16:1(n-7), c15:0, c16:0, c17:0, c18:1(n-6), c18:1 (n-9), 9, 10-cp-c17:0 and iso9, 10-cp-c17:0 were the major ones. When cultured at 30 degrees C, the relative content of unsaturated fatty acids decreased significantly. Carbon source in the media was the crucial factor affecting the contents of odd- and cyclopropane fatty acids. Cluster analysis revealed that temperature had a more obvious effect than carbon source.

Abstract: This paper presents one certain chaotic radar waveforms based on one-dimensional chaotic sequences. This paper derives theoretically the formulae of the ambiguity functions of two cases, i.e., (1) continuous chaotic radar waveforms; (2) rectangular pulse radar waveforms modulated by cut-off chaotic sequences. Such theoretical analysis and numerical simulations denote that the ambiguity functions of the first case are shaped by ideal thumbtacks, and those of the second case are shaped by sharp knife edges. These results hint that such chaotic radar waveforms have good range and velocity resolutions.

Abstract: NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data, the Arctic Oscillation (AO) index and the atmospheric visibility (Vis) data at 134 sites in eastern China (ECN) are used to investigate the possible influence of AO on the wintertime weather and Vis over ECN. A higher relative humidity (RH, compared with the normal year) is identified over ECN in the winters with a positive phase of AO, and the wind anomaly is generally inshore in the coast areas of China. All these processes are consistent with Vis degradation over ECN. On the contrary, in the winters with a negative phase of AO, a lower RH can be identified over ECN, and the wind anomaly is generally offshore, which is favorable for Vis improvement.
