Alternative formulation for the operator algebra over the space of paths in a ADE $SU(3)$ graph

Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: In this work we discuss the elements required for the construction of the operator algebra for the space of paths over a simply laced $SU(3)$ graph. These operators are an important step in the construction of the bialgebra required to find the partition functions of some modular invariant CFTs. We define the cup and cap operators associated with back-and-forth sequences and add them to the creation and annihilation operators in the operator algebra as they are required for the calculation of the full space of essential paths prescribed by the fusion algebra. These operators require collapsed triangular cells that had not been found in previous works; here we provide explicit values for these cells and show their importance in order for the cell system to fulfill the Kuperberg relations for $SU(3)$ tangles. We also find that demanding that our operators satisfy the Temperley-Lieb algebra leads one naturally to consider operators that create and annihilate closed triangular sequences, which in turn provides an alternative the cup and cap operators as they allow one to replace back-and-forth sequences with closed triangular ones. We finally show that the essential paths obtained by using closed triangles are equivalent to those obtained originally using back-and-forth sequences.

Abstract: summary the venezuelan government has planned to use the taguaiguay irrigation system with pretreated wastewaters. a land evaluation has been carried out in order to predict the viability of such a project on the basis of the predominant land utilization types (lut). a visual classification of a multi-spectral spot image followed by a ground truth evaluation revealed that sugarcane, saccharum officinarum and banana, musa spp., were the prevalent luts. a probabilistic sampling of farms was carried out to characterize such luts. on the other hand, a geographical information system with soil data at 1:25 000 scale was used as a support. the land suitability obtained for the soil cartographic units was validated with 30 soil profiles revealing the need to adjust the soil map classification of eléctrical conductivity and percentage of exchangeable sodium to the lut requirements on salinity and alkalinity. the extension planted with sugarcane (3050 ha) embraces almost the whole area that is suitable for this lut (3367 ha), including the marginally suitable land (927 ha). on the other hand, the surface covered by banana (320 ha) is seven times smaller than the area of suitable land for this lut (2 23 8 ha). within the conditions set in this study, banana is more cost-effective (interna rate of return = 15,9) than sugarcane (interna rate of return = 5,8). nevertheless, sugarcane guarantees a safer market to fanuers and is less prone to fruit robbery than banana.
Aplicación y evaluación de materiales educativos para la prevención del dengue en una institución educativa de Medellín, Colombia
CES Medicina , 2011,
Abstract: introduction: in the absence of an effective vaccine to prevent dengue, it is necessary to implement educational strategies for vector control. objective: to evaluate the efficacy of using educative materials for instruction and learning about dengue. methods: a quasi experimental pre/post design was performed. the study population was 66 children of an educational institution in medellin. the selection of the school and the study population was for convenience. the educational strategies consisted of watching the video game "el invitado mortal", and develop a "juego de parqués sobre dengue". the data collection before and after intervention included knowledge and practice tests for schoolchildren. results: it was observed after the intervention, an statistically significant increase in knowledge of the students in the following variables related to symptoms of fever (56.1% vs. 95.4 % p < 0.001), headache (6.1 % vs. 27.7 %, p < 0.003) and myalgia (12.1 % vs. 61.5 %, p < 0.001), mode of transmission (68.2 % vs. 95.4 %, p = 0.001) and the preventive measure "elimination of breeding sites" (65. 2 % vs. 86.2 %, p = 0.015). it was obvious even before the intervention, the disease management should be in health institutions (90.0 % vs. 100 %, p < 0.001). over 95 % of students reported acceptance of video and game. conclusions: these results suggest that the game as an educational medium is an important tool in understanding the concepts, besides being a participatory activity and satisfactory. therefore could be used in prevention and control programs.

Abstract: The growth of fungi during pre - and postharvest of fruits may cause spoilage and result in a reduction in quality and quantity. The aim of the present work was to investigate the efficacy of four extracts (n-hexane, dichlorometane, ethyl acetate, and methanol) and the essential oil of Piper auritum Kunth and P. holtonii C. DC. on the growth inhibition of three important postharvest pathogens of fruits (Colletotrichum acutatum, C. gloeosporioides, and Botryodiplodia theobromae). The in vitro antifungal activity was assayed following the poisoned food technique. The results showed that both n-hexane extract (HE) as essential oil (EO) displayed a relative good control against the three pathogens, being the originating materials of P. holtonii the most actives. Mycelial growth of C. acutatum, C. gloeosporioides, and B. theobromae was significantly inhibited at 400 μg mL-1. Additionally, the chemical composition of the bioactive materials was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Safrole (64.54/56.88%) and apiol (64.24/57.20%) were the major constituents of the EO/HE from P. auritum and P. holtonii respectively. Structural identification was also confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance. Both compounds exhibited significant antifungal properties. It can be concluded that EOs/HEs from P. auritum and P. holtonii, and their major constituents, have interesting applications to control plant pathogenic fungi.

Abstract: Objetivo.

Abstract: the surgery-needed care program, currently under test at the puerta del mar hospital in cadiz, has been conceived with the aim of both tuning the care level to each individual patient and, at the same time, to secure a continuous assistance through all the units involved in the surgery process. it is based on a computer tool so called surgery program. this computer application has been designed on the basis of continually-improving approach while counting with the enrolment, from the very first phases, of nurses in the affected units both in development and set-up steps. after just eight months running this program, we have been able to create a digital database keeping record about up to 55% of the surgery assistances appointed in this period. in each of these records, the expected emotional responses of both the patient and relatives against the surgery process are diagnosed and carefully evaluated. likewise those care actions planned to face such responses with the aim of alleviating patient and family-environment anxieties or fears are also recorded. for this, nanda, noc and nic taxonomies has been used with a holistic perspective and considering the person both as the agent and as the final receiver of cares. the information recorded in this database is complemented with other provided by a parallel information system keeping track of additional relevant details as nurse diagnosis, list of all the interventions performed, patient allergies or antibiotic prophylaxis provided to the patient.

Abstract: The basin of Rio de la Sabana is the largest tributary of the Tres Palos coastal lagoon in Southwest Mexico, east of Acapulco. This lagoon and its upstream basin areas have become a high priority area for the preservation of coastal and marine environments. To obtain information about water quality as affected by urban expansion since 2002, fourteen physicochemical parameters (temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen, ammonium, nitrate, nitrite, sulphate, phosphate), biochemical (biological and chemical oxygen demand, methylene blue active substances) and bacteriological parameters (total and fecal coliforms) were determined. This sampling was done for dry and rainy season conditions at seven locations (S1, S2, S3, …, S7) along the river, spaced 3 to 6 km apart to a total of 30.4 km. The results were grouped into four zones: (Z1) reference, (Z2) transition, (Z3) polluted, (Z4) recovery. The Alborada (S5) and Tunzingo (S6) sites, adjacent to dense high-class residential areas (Z3), had the greatest pollution charges in both seasons, while the La Poza (S7) site near the Tres Palos lagoon (Z4) showed a decrease in pollution. All parameters correlated with increasing head- to down-river sampling distance by following linear (pH, DO) or curvilinear patterns (all other parameters). Using sampling location and dry versus rainy sampling season as multivariate regression (predictor) variables led to least-squares capturing: 1) 66% to 95% of the T(°C), pH, DO, and PO3-4 variations, and 2) 57% to 96% of the log-linear variations of the other parameters. Among the parameters, T(°C), DO, and PO3-4 were not significantly affected by sampling season, while pH became so after deleting two higher than usual pH values at the S5 and S6 locations during the dry season.
