Abstract: this paper examines the housing situation of the population of the province of jujuy in the first half of the twentieth century, in light of the changes and continuance in the process of local economic growth. much is known about the problem of housing in argentina, especially in the river plate area, but little has been deepened on its characteristics and implications in other regions such as the northwest. thus, the focus of the observation in jujuy not only is rescued this provincial experience but it has also revealed certain housing traits shared in this region. in this study it is provided new contributions that are articulated with the national knowledge and, when possible, also discussed.
Diversidad y patrones de distribución geográfica de insectos coleópteros en ecosistemas desérticos de la región de Antofagasta, Chile

Abstract: the coleopterologic fauna of the antofagasta region has been the object of diverse studies, but until now, an analysis of both the diversity and spatial distribution of the species was lacking. in this paper, the diversity of coleopteran species and their distribution ranges are given. the possible biogeographic relationships which could exist between the different described ecosystems of the region were analyzed. in this analysis, a coleopteran species inventory was elaborated based upon the literature, collected material from museums, and observations from field work. the spatial distribution of the taxa was established in relation to 11 described ecosystems for the region and the endemic areas were determined using a biogeographic parsimony analysis. the taxonomic composition of coleoptera is comprised of 21 families, 86 genera, and 167 species, with tenebrionidae as the most diverse having 23 genera and 78 species. the subdesertic steppe of the puna (57 sp.), coastal desert of tocopilla (50 sp.), desert of atacama saltflat (35 sp.), coastal desert of taltal (32 sp.), aluvian desert (22 sp.), and the shrubery steppe (17 sp.) are the ecosystems that present the most diversification. however, the coastal desert of tocopilla (72%), coastal desert of taltal (62.5%), subdesertic steppe of the puna (55.8%), desert of atacama saltflat (51.4%), shrubery steppe (47%), and the aluvian desert (36.3%) have the highest percentages of endemism. three areas of endemism are defined for the region of antofagasta, which correspond to three ecosystems distributed in an altitudinal gradient: coastal desert, aluvian desert, and tropical zone

Abstract: La fauna coleopterológica de la Región de Antofagasta, ha sido objeto de diversos trabajos, pero hasta el momento falta un análisis de conjunto de la diversidad y distribución espacial de las especies. En este trabajo se da a conocer la diversidad de Coleoptera, rangos de distribución de las especies y se analiza las relaciones biogeográficas que pueden existir entre los distintos ecosistemas descritos para la Región. Para ello se elaboró un catastro georreferenciado en base a revisión bibliográfica, material de colección y prospecciones en terreno. La distribución espacial de los taxa se estableció en relación a 11 ecosistemas descritos para la Región y se determinaron áreas de endemismo mediante análisis de parsimonia biogeográfico. La composición taxonómica de Coleoptera está formada por 21 familias, 86 géneros y 167 especies, siendo Tenebrionidae la familia más diversa con 23 géneros y 78 especies. Los ecosistemas que presentan mayor diversidad específica son Estepa subdesértica de la puna (52 sp.), Desierto costero de Tocopilla (50 sp.), Desierto del Salar de Atacama (35 sp.), Desierto costero de Taltal (32 sp.), Desierto de los aluviones (22 sp.) y Estepa arbustiva (17 sp.). Sin embargo los ecosistemas que concentran el mayor porcentaje de endemismo son Desierto costero de Tocopilla (72%), Desierto costero de Taltal (62,5%), Estepa subdesértica de la puna (55,8%), Desierto del Salar de Atacama (51,4 %), Estepa arbustiva (47%) y Desierto de los aluviones (36,3%). Abstract: Para establecer las particularidades del plan corporal en Mabuya sp. se describen las principales características estructurales del esqueleto, se comparan con otros escíncidos africanos y se discuten en el contexto de la evolución de los escíncidos en América y del plan corporal en los Squamata. El taxón Mabuya sp. exhibe caracteres craneales diferentes a las especies africanas que podrían constituir sinapomorfias para el clado americano. Si bien, Mabuya sp. exhibe un cráneo con características similares a lagartos con un plan corporal lacertiforme, presenta transformaciones incipientes hacia un plan corporal serpentiforme, las cuales se evidencian en aumento del número de vértebras y en la reducción del tama o de las extremidades. En Mabuya sp. el alargamiento corporal, representado en mayor número de vértebras, podría estar relacionado con la viviparidad, como también se observa en las especies vivíparas africanas, lo cual aumentaría el volumen en el abdomen para mantener los embriones en crecimiento. Por lo tanto, en su evolución a partir de formas africanas, esta característica del plan corporal probablemente subyace a la evolución del conjunto de especializaciones relacionadas con la viviparidad en el género Mabuya, las cuales son únicas dentro de reptiles y alcanzan su pináculo en este clado. To analyze the features of the body plan of Mabuya sp., the structural characteristics of its skeleton are described and compared with other African scincids and are discussed in the context of the evolution of scincids in America and the evolution of body forms in Squamata. The taxon Mabuya sp. exhibits cranial traits that are different from African species, which may represent synapomorphies for the American clade. Even though the skull of Mabuya exhibits characteristics similar to those of lizards with a lacertiform body plan, it also shows incipient transformations towards a serpentiform body plan, which is evidenced by the increase in the number of vertebrae and the decrease in limb size. In Mabuya sp., body elongation, represented by an increase in the number of vertebrae, might be related to viviparity as evidenced by viviparous African species, which would increase the abdominal volume available to support the developing embryos. Therefore, in its evolution from African forms, this feature of the body plan probably underlies the evolution of the set of specializations associated with viviparity within the genus Mabuya, which are unique among reptiles and reach their pinnacle in this clade.

Abstract: Este artículo analiza las condiciones habitacionales de la población de la provincia de Jujuy en la primera mitad del siglo XX, a la luz de los cambios y continuidades en el proceso de crecimiento económico local y nacional. Mucho se sabe acerca del problema de la vivienda en Argentina, sobre todo en el ámbito rioplatense, pero poco se ha profundizado sobre sus características e implicancias en otras regiones tales como en el Noroeste. De este modo, al centrar la atención en Jujuy se rescata no sólo la experiencia juje a, sino también se develan ciertos rasgos habitacionales compartidos en esta región. A lo largo de este estudio se brindan nuevos aportes que son articulados dentro de aquel conocimiento en el nivel nacional y, cuando ello es posible, también discutidos. Abstract: Ce travail analyse les critères à partir desquels se construit ou se reconstitue l’identité des habitants de la ville frontière de Bermejo. L’article met en évidence le processus d’identification fondé sur un double jeu (la différenciation [lo coya] et l’invention [lo guaraní-chaque o]), processus dont l’objectif est la construction d’un concept et d’une image de la ville. Dès lors, l’identité socio-culturelle est une notion qui s’élabore tout au long de l’histoire de Bermejo. This paper discusses the identitary criteria through which the inhabitants’identity of Bermejo –a border city is constructed or recreated. It studies the double game that appears in the identification process: one of differentiation [lo coya] and the other of invention [lo guaraní-chaque o], process which aims at the construction of a concept and image of the city. In doing so, the sociocultural identity is something that is constituted throughout the history of Bermejo. En este artículo, se estudian los criterios a partir de los cuales se construye y se recrea el “ser bermeje o” en la ciudad fronteriza de Bermejo. A la vez, se presenta el doble juego en el proceso de identificación : uno, de diferenciación [lo coya] y otro, de invención [lo guaraní-chaque o] en busca de la construcción de un concepto e imagen de ciudad. En este contexto, lo étnico como identidad sociocultural es algo que se constituye a lo largo de la historia de Bermejo.

Abstract: the taxonomic composition of beetles soil associated to the vegetable formation of peumus boldus in isla mocha national reserve were studied. the study was carried out in the spring and beginning of summer of 1998, by means of 10 pitfall traps placed along a longitudinal transect . each trap remained on the sampling site during 15 consecutive days and the material recolected was preserved in alcohol, for its later identification. the results show that in the p. boldus shrubland the order coleoptera is represented by 15 families and 25 species. germarostes posticus (ceratocanthidae), gnathotrupes corthyliformis (scolytinae) and aridius chilensis (lathridiidae) were the most abundant species. we concluded that exist seasonal and habitat differences determined by the presence and abundance of some species of beetles

Abstract: in the región de aysen, chile, nothofagus antarctica (?irre or antarctic beech) forms puré forests called shrubby beech forests and secondary mixed shrub of anthropogenic origin. the aim of this work is to characterize the insect fauna associated to the foliage of antarctic beech forests and scrublands in the baker river basin. insects were collected in spring (october 2006) and summer (january 2007), in five beech forests and 10 scrub patches from latitudes 47°2' s - 72°48' w to 47°15' s - 73° w. six orders of insects were identified, being coleóptera the most diverse. the phytophagous-beetle guild was the most representative in both forest types and climatic seasons. no significant differences were found in insect taxonomic composition or mean abundance of guilds between forest types or climatic seasons. additionally, abundant defoliation by ormiscodes sp. larvae, infestation by parasitic plants and fungi, and insect galls were observed. more exhaustive samplings in autumn and winter, complemented with more efficient sampling methods, would allow identifying the year-round insect diversity associated to antarctic beech foliage.
