Revista Brasileira de Educa??o , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-24782007000200012
Abstract: at the end of the xix century, the province of s?o paulo possessed various schools founded by the north american missionaries, known as the american schools. these schools became part of the ordinary educational offer of a school system which tried to establish itself within the state education system and, at the same time, became known nationally. they were recognized by brazilian authorities as collaborating with the formation of the country's culture and national identity. by emphasizing the need for women's education and female teachers as a way of raising moral and spiritual values in accordance with their religious precepts they instituted co-education and unveiled a new educational perspective different from that offered by catholic and even official schools. in so doing, they introduced those liberal premises which prevailed in the united states and which were still viewed with mistrust by the conservative sectors of civil society and the catholic church in s?o paulo.

Creative Education (CE) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2018.916218
Abstract: This article explores a dataset collected by a Facebook live streaming of the “Falando de Música” program, the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra pre-concert lecture venue. Based on qualitative and quantitative interviews (online and face-to-face) as much as Facebook’s own measures, this paper aims at analyzing the impact on online viewers. Reflecting on the concept of “liveness” and its historical developments, it describes some effects on the public by using the platform and the content accessibility. This research is a “work in progress” investigation to produce a video streaming methodology for online music lectures with a single person.

The article refers to a research carried out on the life history of women who are Higher Education professors and teach at the graduate program in Education at the University of the State of S o Paulo, from their educational processes to the challenges they had to face at their teaching careers at the university. These data were analyzed along with the information provided voluntarily concerning the interface of their professional and their personal life, such as family origin, marriage and maternity, as well as the social expectations regarding gender roles. The data were collected through free testimonials whose main objective was to observe whether the achievement of women, during the 60's and 70's, were somehow influenced by the feminist movement in Brazil and showed repercussions on their work and daily life. It was intended to detect if the gender relations in society had any impact on their lives and on their professional accomplishments.
Sensemaking: A Proposal for a Real-Time on the Fly Video Streaming Platform  [PDF]

Creative Education (CE) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2016.716238
Abstract: The massive amount of data produced by the streaming and storage of videos generated from classes, medical procedures and other science and educational films using UHD technologies is creating huge databases that are not fully used. For example, the preparation of a surgery and the setup of a class which are streamed in real time are parts of videos that could be extracted from the final version before being saved in the system. Usually online video platforms only permit users to edit streamed videos after the end of the streaming. This article describes a project of a video editor called Sensemaking that can be applied to the educational field, allowing users to edit on the fly videos that are being streamed in real time by creating an online editor feature to manage in real time the video input, providing the users with a tool to produce an educational or scientific movie. By using the Sensemaking system, it will be possible to produce a movie which will be a record and at the same time an educational product with audio, images, logos and animations at the end of the streaming session. This editor will be initially integrated to the Video@RNP Platform, a database of videos dedicated to educational and research institutions in Brazil. The Video@RNP Platform is operated and developed by the National Education and Research Network (RNP) with financial support from the Education and Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC) Ministries in Brazil.
Estudos bion?micos de Dipetalogaster Maximus (Ihler, 1894) (Hemiptera, Triatominae) I. influência da dieta sobre ritmo de postura, viabilidade dos ovos, curva de fertilidade e moetalidade das fêmeas

Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1986, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761986000400003
Abstract: the bionomics of dipetalogaster maximus (uhler, 1894) was greatly influenced by the source of boold meal. the data were obtained upon daily observation of adult insects for a ten month period, in relation to oviposition and mortality. two groups of ten couples (a and b) of the same age were fed weekly on normal mouse blood and two other groups of ten couples (c and d) which were fed under the same conditions on pigeon blood. all the groups were kept in a b.o.d chamber at saitable conditions (28oc and 65% ± 2,5% r.h.) for their development. the a group registered 101 ovipositions with a total of 1018 eggs; and b group registered 118 ovipositions with 1318 eggs. the groups c and d fed on pigeon blood showed a lower productivity: 70 ovipositions in c, with 398 eggs and 66 ovipositions in d, with 495 eggs. significant differences were not observed in the mortality of the females.
Estudos bion?micos de Dipetalogaster maximus (Uhler, 1894) (Hemiptera - Triatominae): II - Influência da dieta sobre o ciclo biológico e resistência ao jejum
Costa, Jane Margaret;Jurberg, José;Almeida, Josimar Ribeiro de;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1987, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761987000100018
Abstract: two kinds of blood-meal were assayed in order to broaden the knowledge of the biology of dipetalogaster maximus: one group of insects was fed on normal mouse blood (c) and another group fed on pigeon blood (p). both groups were kept in a b.o.d. - chamber (28oc and 65% r.h.). significant data concerning their development was registered: the group fed on c reached the adult stage in x = 130,1 days and the group fed on p in x = 145,6 days. mortality of group fed on p, (63,71%) was doubled that of group fed on c (31,18%). the period of survival, as measured by resistance to starvation, was markedly greater in group fed on c, particularly in the third, fourth and fifth stages. these observations complete our former records of this species, kept under the same conditions of female fertility, egg vialbility and comparative mortality and fertility rates.
Esclerite associada ao uso de bisfosfonatos
Passos, ?ngelo Ferreira;Almeida, Priscilla Jane Ayres de;
Revista Brasileira de Reumatologia , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0482-50042006000500013
Abstract: to alert to the fact that bisphosphonates, important class of drugs used in the treatment of osteoporosis, can cause scleritis. report of a female patient?s case, who presented an episode of scleritis while using alendronate, and who had one year later another episode during the use of a drug from the same class, risedronate. the bisphosphonates are a class of drugs, which have been used very often in the treatment of osteoporosis. however, a great part of the physicians can not be alert for its ocular side effects, considering that in the national literature there?s no report of these effects. this article report two episodes of scleritis, occurred to a patient, in a period of one year, probably caused by the use of two types of bisphosphonates. in these two opportunities, there was recovery after the suspension of the drug, associated with a less aggressive treatment. this fact justified not to perform the search for diseases considered to be the cause of scleritis, of which the patient didn?t show any sign, symptom or past clinical history. these facts, associated to the existence of some reports of ocular inflammation, including scleritis, associated to the use of bisphosphonates, reinforces the hypothesis that the episodes, in fact, have been caused by the use of the drug.
Quem tem saudade da Escola Normal?
Marília Claret Geraes Duran,Jane Soares de Almeida
Eccos Revista Científica , 2010,
Abstract: Based on previous studies on teachers training for the early years of compulsory education, we emphasize in the article, some of the guiding principles and proposals which were articulated with the surroundings of the "Normal Course". The theme is developed considering three stages: the first affects set of the time, its uncertain path, the precarious ness of the first "normal schools" for graduating teachers in Brazilian territory. The second puts emphasis on issues of feminization of teaching and, thirdly, brand integration and equivalence of the "ordinary course" in all courses of the "school" with right of access to higher education, characterizing itself as vocational courses for primary teaching.
