Abstract: the study aimed at analyzing four proposals of obstetric assistance that co-existed in the city of rio de janeiro from the early thirties to the fifties, as well as discussing the inclusion of graduated and non-graduated accoucheuses, and nurses. it is of a historical-social nature, making use of the written document as a primary source. the analysis is based pierre bourdieu's main concepts. with this research, it was possible to make evident the domiciliary obstetric service of the sanitarist model, the philanthropic proposal of society's ladies, the individualized hospital-based assistance, and the proposal of integrated obstetric assistance. the study also allowed the understanding of the exclusion of non-graduated women from the brazilian obstetric field.

Abstract: the study discusses the obstetric nursing care provided at the childbirth center david capistrano filho. this reflection, based on the negotiation concept of the cultural care theory and on the health education concept, searched for the reason why in this space, that was created for the development of actions under humanized model perspective, obstetric nurses ground their practices on health education principles. it was concluded that the health education is an instrument of cultural care and the nurses while using educational practices are also using the negotiation for caring, in a humanized perspective, with the woman who socially uses to deal with the conceptions of the technocratic model. therefore, without invasions and impositions, nurses collaborate with the physiology of pregnancy and childbirth, because acting this way they avoid the culture shock. they restructure the cultural care in the obstetric field for changing the hospitalized woman's way to give birth.

Abstract: the objective of this historical-social study is to analyze the battle strategies in the process of implementing humanized practice at the alexander fleming maternity. the method used was oral thematic history. the analysis was performed using data triangulation, by articulating the oral statements with the written documents. the foundations of the study are the theoretical notions of field, habitus, symbolic power, symbolic battle and capital of the sociologist pierre bourdieu. the results showed that the inclusion of nurses in delivery care occurred through human resource capacity for this project and an intensive training. by being inserted in the center obstetric nurses have created their own space for action and developed a protocol of care. obstetrical nurses, by means of battle their strategies, have taken over areas and positions that distinguished them for the development of humanized practices that agree with their updated habitus.

Abstract: this a historical-social qualitative study which aimed to identify the strategies of symbolic fight of nurses in leila diniz maternity to implant a humanized model of delivery assistance and analyze the effects of this fight. the primary sources were written documents and oral testimonials from semi-structure interviews with the head nurses and the nursing staff. the analysis method included the ordination, classification, and triangulation of data. for analysis, the concepts of field, habitus, symbolic power, and capital, according to pierre bourdieu, were used. the strategies founded were: the search for specialization, the implementation of the delivery assistance project by obstetric nurses, the popularization of that capital/knowledge in the scientific context, and participation in the prenatal care group. we concluded the fight strategies adopted by agents contributed so that obstetric nurses would achieve a better hierarchical position in this field regarding the development of obstetric practices of the humanized model.

Abstract: Es una investigación cualitativa con abordaje socio-histórico, cuyo objetivo fue identificar las estrategias de la lucha simbólica de las enfermeras de la Maternidad Leila Diniz para la aplicación de un modelo de atención al parto humanizado y analizar los efectos de esa lucha. Se usaron como fuentes primarias los documentos escritos y testimonios orales obtenidos por entrevistas semiestructuradas con los jefes de enfermería y las enfermeras. Las etapas del análisis son: ordenación, clasificación y triangulación de los datos. Se usaron los conceptos de campo, habitus, poder simbólico, y capital, según Pierre Bourdieu. Las estrategias encontradas son las siguientes: la búsqueda de especialización, la implantación del Proyecto de Asistencia al Parto por las Enfermeras Obstétricas, la divulgación de ese capital en el contexto científico, la participación de las enfermeras en el grupo de embarazadas. Se concluye que las estrategias de lucha desarrolladas por esos agentes contribuyen para que las enfermeras obstétricas conquisten una posición jerárquica para el desarrollo de las prácticas obstétricas según el modelo humanizado.

Abstract: Objetivou-se discutir as repercuss es das práticas educativas desenvolvidas por enfermeiras sobre a vivência das mulheres na gravidez e no parto. Estudo qualitativo cuja coleta de dados ocorreu por meio de entrevista semiestruturada com dezesseis mulheres que pariram e que frequentaram os grupos educativos e consultas puerperais em uma Casa de Parto. A análise foi mediante as diretrizes de análise de conteúdo de Bardin. Os resultados mostraram que as práticas educativas foram reestruturantes para a vivência tranquila, forma o do vínculo materno, livre express o da sexualidade durante a gesta o e sensa es vividas no parto. Concluiu-se que a educa o em saúde utilizada como instrumento do cuidar, oportuniza a ades o da mulher a práticas obstétricas menos intervencionistas. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar el impacto de las prácticas educativas desarrolladas por enfermeras en la experiencia de las mujeres en el embarazo y parto. Un estudio cualitativo fue desarrollado, cuyos datos fueron recolectados a través de entrevistas semi estructuradas con diez y seis mujeres que dieron a luz y que asistieron a los grupos de educación y consulta de puerperio en una casa de parto. El análisis fue efectuado según las directrices para análisis de contenido de Bardin. Los resultados mostraron que las prácticas eran reestruturantes para una vida pacífica, unión con la madre, la libre expresión de la sexualidad durante el embarazo y sensaciones experimentadas durante el parto. Se concluyó que la educación para la salud utilizado como un instrumento de cuidado, alimentación a la adhesión de las mujeres a prácticas obstétricas menos intervencionistas. The objective was to discuss the impact of educational practices developed by nurses on the experience of women in pregnancy and childbirth. A qualitative study was carried out, whose data was collected through semi-structured interviews with sixteen women who gave birth and who attended the educational groups and puerperal consultations in a Birth Center. Analysis was done according to the guidelines for content analysis of Bardin. The results showed that the practices were essential for peaceful pregnancy experience, maternal bonding, free expression of sexuality during pregnancy and sensations experienced in childbirth. It was concluded that health education, used as an instrument of care, nurture the accession of women to less interventionist obstetric practices.

Abstract: Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, exploratório, descritivo que foi realizado em um Hospital Universitário no município do Rio de Janeiro, com objetivo de descrever a percep o das gestantes em rela o ao atendimento da enfermeira obstetra no acompanhamento do pré-natal. Após aprova o da pesquisa pelo Comitê de ética da referida institui o, foram investigadas 18 gestantes que concordaram em responder uma entrevista semiestruturada. A análise temática dos relatos revelou que o atendimento da enfermeira é diferenciado, com acolhimento e aten o, facilitando o esclarecimento de dúvidas e o aprendizado em rela o ao processo de gestar e parir. O vínculo estabelecido entre a enfermeira obstetra e a gestante no pré-natal contribui para o processo de educa o para a saúde das mulheres, respeitando-se os hábitos de vida e a cultura da clientela. Se trata de un estudio cualitativo, exploratorio, descriptivo que fue realizado en un hospital universitario en el municipio de Río de Janeiro, con el objetivo de describir la percepción de las gestantes en relación con la atención de la enfermera obstetra en el acompa amiento del prenatal. Posterior a la aprobación de la investigación por parte del Comité de ética de la referida institución, fueron investigadas dieciocho embarazadas que accedieron a responder una entrevista semiestructurada. El análisis temático de los relatos reveló que la atención de la enfermera es diferenciada, con acogida y atención, facilitando la aclaración de las dudas y el aprendizaje en relación con el proceso de embarazo y parto. El vínculo establecido entre la enfermera obstetra y la gestante en el prenatal contribuye en el proceso de educación para la salud de las mujeres, respetándose los hábitos de vida y la cultura de la clientela. This is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study carried out in a University Hospital located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, aiming to describe the pregnant women’s perception regarding the obstetrics nurse care at prenatal support clinic. Eighteen pregnant women, who agreed to answer a partially-structured interview, were investigated after the research was approved by the institution’s Ethics Committee. The thematic analysis of the accounts revealed that the obstetrics nurse care is differentiated, with warmth and attention, thus enabling the clarifcation of questions and learning in relation to the pregnancy and childbearing processes. Abstract: O presente estudo tem como temática as práticas incorporadas e desenvolvidas por enfermeiras mediante a implanta o do modelo humanizado de assistência ao parto. Tem como objetivo discutir as práticas incorporadas e desenvolvidas por enfermeiras desde a implanta o do modelo humanizado de assistência ao parto. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, realizado em duas maternidades municipais do Rio de Janeiro, no período de fevereiro a abril de 2008. Os sujeitos foram 10 enfermeiras obstétricas. A coleta das informa es foi realizada por meio da entrevista semi-estruturada. Diante dosdepoimentos identificamos as unidades de registro e nomeamos os temas que foram agrupados em conjuntos maiores por afinidade de significa o. Desta forma, evidenciamos as categorias. Os resultados apontaram que as práticas incorporadas pelas enfermeiras que assistem ao parto hospitalar no contexto da humaniza o foram referentes ao banho de aspers o, a orienta o para uma respira o tranqüila, a valoriza o da liberdade de movimentos, o estabelecimento de vínculo entre enfermeira-parturiente, a presen a do acompanhante e o emprego do toque físico. Concluímos que apesar das condi es adversas, as enfermeiras est o seguindo os princípios e diretrizes da Organiza o Mundial de Saúde e do Ministério da Saúde em sua pratica hospitalar de assistência ao parto.

Abstract: the study aims to describe the sensations lived by women during the accomplishment of episiotomy and also to analyze the repercussions of this practice on their sexuality. it is qualitative study accomplished with ten women in a governmental maternity administrated by the rio de janeiro’s municipal health office, from september to december 2005. data were obtained by semi-structured interview and the statements were classified according the content analysis methodology. the sensations lived by the women during the procedure are associated to a trauma for being painful, for being provoked by external agents to their corporal physiology and without their previous consent. the episiotomy affected the women’s sexuality for interfering in their childbirths, in their sexual and family relationships. we concluded that, because the episiotomy represents violation of the women’s sexual and reproductive rights, it is indispensable that nurses accomplish the perineal protection procedure as one incorporated in their daily practice.
