DEVOCIONES DE INMIGRANTES: INDíGENAS ANDINOS Y PLURIETNICIDAD URBANA EN LA CONFORMACIóN DE COFRADíAS COLONIALES (SANTIAGO DE CHILE, SIGLO XVII)
Valenzuela Márquez,Jaime;
Historia (Santiago) , 2010, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-71942010000100006
Abstract: in the origins of colonial chile it is possible to find numerous andean indians who worked for spaniards, settled and were integrated in labor and social spaces of this peripheral ?new world?. they established local nets and relationships, and had descendants. many became craftmen and some left wills or traces on ecclesiastic and notarial documents that allow us to observe their participation in brotherhoods created in chile?s capital. these corporations had a religious aim, but worked as privileged channels for the insertion and mobility of diverse people. under this premise, this article analyzes the main brotherhoods in which these immigrants participated, linking religious practices with their social nets and working spaces. the brotherhoods studied reveal themselves as instances that represent the diversity of geographic and ethnic origins of its members, as well as the multiple points of reference for their identities, that circulated and interacted in a colonial urban space such as santiago of chile.
LOS FRANCISCANOS DE CHILLáN Y LA INDEPENDENCIA: AVATARES DE UNA COMUNIDAD MONARQUISTA
VALENZUELA MáRQUEZ,JAIME;
Historia (Santiago) , 2005, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-71942005000100006
Abstract: as of 1808, the dizzying changes that take place in spain and, then, in chile, will bring deep ideological ruptures and definition of loyalties, in the middle of a spiral of verbal and physical violence that will pit monarchits against patriots. the church and religión are intimately committed to these "vicissitudes", with factions that will support one group or the other, and in a context where king and country are tainted with sacred or devilish connotations, depending on the ecclesiastic group that invokes them. the franciscan friars of "el colegio de propaganda fide" in chillán keep a steely monarchic position, sustained by the various actions, speeches and attitudes that are analysed in this article. the patriots' victories of chacabuco and maipú do not intimidate this feeling and, even though part of the missionaries flees to lima, others move south the biobío river, going into hiding or overtly supporting the royalist guerrillas. the consolidation of the republic, nevertheless, is inevitable, and the franciscan "godos" (royalists) of chillán have to suffer the dramatic "vicissitude" of adapting to the new political and ecclesiastic reality of the country
Separación Neumática de Finos desde Corrientes de Mineral Chancado
Tapia,Jaime M;
Información tecnológica , 2006, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-07642006000600023
Abstract: an alternative technique is presented for reducing the production of fines ( particles of less than 212 mm in size) during the crushing process applied to copper minerals. the proposed method included pneumatic separation of the fines from an ascending flow of air applied to artificially prepared samples of crushed mineral which were prepared containing various quantities of fines ranging from 10 to 25% by weight. laboratory tests verified separation of the fines from the samples using the proposed method. in static bed tests, separation of nearly 90% was obtained, starting with ratios of (u0/ut) = 2 (for a prepared sample containing 20% fines and surface air velocity of u0 = 100 cm/s). on the other hand, tests with a moving bed gave a separation near 75% for similar samples and working conditions. this behavior was repeated for all the test samples prepared. these results allowed validation of the alternative technique for the pneumatic separation of fines from currents of crushed minerals

Ins?nia primária: diagnóstico diferencial e tratamento
Monti, Jaime M;
Revista Brasileira de Psiquiatria , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-44462000000100009
Abstract: primary insomnia is a dyssomnia characterized by a complaint of difficulty in initiating or maintaining sleep and the absence of restorative sleep that lasts for at least 1 month. the polysomnographic test shows alterations in the induction, continuity and structure of sleep. primary insomnia typically begins in young adulthood, has a chronic course, and it is more prevalent among women. its prevalence among patients with chronic insomnia ranges from 12.5% to 22.2%. primary insomnia must be distinguished from insomnia related to inadequate sleep hygiene or another mental disorder, such as generalized anxiety disorder or a mood disorder. the treatment of primary insomnia consists of nonpharmacological strategies (sleep hygiene, behavior-cognitive therapy) and sleep-promoting medication (e.g. hypnotics). few differences exist between benzodiazepines, zopiclone and zolpidem in terms of effectiveness in inducing and maintaining sleep. however, in contrast to benzodiazepines, zolpidem and zopiclone do not suppress slow-wave sleep. rebound insomnia and drug addiction are uncommon.

Abstract: This article attempts to approach the sounds linked to power in colonial Santiago, Chile originating from a hypothesis that proposes a transition from the hegemonic ecclesiastical bell to the preponderance of military armament. A transition that is observed to be in direct connection with the process that was developing at a local and imperial level in relation with the military participation in administrative matters and in public spaces.
LOS FRANCISCANOS DE CHILLáN Y LA INDEPENDENCIA: AVATARES DE UNA COMUNIDAD MONARQUISTA
JAIME VALENZUELA MáRQUEZ
Historia (Santiago) , 2005,
As of 1808, the dizzying changes that take place in Spain and, then, in Chile, will bring deep ideological ruptures and definition of loyalties, in the middle of a spiral of verbal and physical violence that will pit monarchits against patriots.
