(In this paper, we propose some guidelines for the classification of phoneticphonological adjustments (Clasificación de Ajustes Fonético-Fonológicos, CLAFF). Such guidelines are intended to describe and classify, from a phonetic-articulatory point of view, the adjustments that boys and girls make when, according to the standard Chilean Spanish phonological model, they unsuccessfully try to utter oral statements. These guidelines include 21 phonetic-articulatory parameters that enable to comprehensively describe the quantitative and qualitative articulatory behaviour shown in normal children’s speech.)
Estrés oxidativo, péptido β-amiloide y enfermedad de Alzheimer

Gaceta médica de México , 2006,
Abstract: alzheimer's disease, the leading cause of dementia in the elderly is characterized by the presence in the brain of senile plaques formed of insoluble fibrillar deposits of β-amyloid peptide. this peptide is normally produced in a monomeric soluble form and it is present in low concentrations in the blood and spinal fluid. at physiological concentrations, this peptide is a neurotrophic and neuroprotector factor; nevertheless, with aging and particularly in alzheimer's disease this peptide accumulates, favors the formation of insoluble fibrils and causes neurotoxicity. β-amyloid peptide toxicity has been associated with the generation of free radicals that in turn promote lipid peroxidation and protein oxidation. through the recognition of specific receptors such as the scavenger receptor, the β-amyloid peptide becomes internalizedin the form of aggregates. independently of the way the peptide enters the cell, it generates oxidative stress that eventually triggers a state of neurotoxicity and cell death. recent studies in our laboratory have shown the effect caused by an extracellular oxidative stress upon the internalization of the scavenger receptor. we have also demonstrated that the process of protein translation of molecules implicated in the mechanism of endocytosis through the scavenger receptor, such as the case of β-adaptin, is arrested in microglial cells treated with β-amyloid.
El camino tortuoso de la participación ciudadana. Una mirada al Cabildo Abierto en Bogotá1
Cogollos Amaya,Silvia; Ramírez León,Jaime;
Universitas Humanística , 2007,
Abstract: the article presents the study developed for the city of bogota, d.c. on the exercise of civic participation through one of the mechanisms of participation established by the colombian constitution of 1991. it starts with a theoretical conceptualization of the "cabildo abierto" and its democratic meaning, and continues analyzing its judicial framework. further on, it conducts a detailed analysis of the civic political participation through the study of sessions of the "cabildo abierto" carried out in bogota between 1994 and 2004 by the different groups in charge of its execution, in order to show evidence of the complexity of this participatory exercise.
The distribution of nutrients, dissolved oxygen and chlorophyll a in the upper Gulf of Nicoya, Costa Rica, a tropical estuary
Palter,Jaime; León Coto,Sandra; Ballestero,Daniel;
Revista de Biología Tropical , 2007,
Abstract: in the gulf of nicoya on the pacific coast of costa rica, nutrient rich equatorial subsurface water (esw) is upwelled in much of the lower gulf. these offshore waters are often regarded as the major source of nutrients to the gulf. however, for most of the year, the esw has little influence on the nutrient content of the upper gulf, which has a distinct character from the lower gulf. the upper gulf, extending 40 km north of the restriction between puntarenas peninsula and san lucas island, is bordered primarily by mangrove swamps, is less than 20 m deep, and is less saline than the lower gulf. we surveyed the upper gulf for dissolved inorganic nitrogen, phosphate, silicate, dissolved oxygen, and chlorophyll in november 2000, january and july 2001. all nutrients are more concentrated in the upper gulf during the rainy and transitional seasons than the dry season, significantly so for phosphate and silicate. throughout the year, nutrients tend to be much more concentrated in the less saline water of the upper gulf. this trend indicates that discharge from the tempisque river predominantly controls spatial and temporal nutrient variability in the upper gulf. however, nutrient rich esw, upwelled offshore and mixed to form a mid-temperature intermediate water, may enter the inner gulf to provide an important secondary source of nutrients during the dry season. rev. biol. trop. 55 (2): 427-436. epub 2007 june, 29.
Estimulación magnética transcraneal y plasticidad neural

Iatreia , 2005,
