Abstract: Functional neurosurgery is nowadays a recognized treatment for advanced Parkinson’s disease with pharmacologically uncontrolled symptoms. This procedure brings us the unique opportunity to deepen in the knowledge of PD’s physiopathology by recording patients’ neural activity, and possibly in the future it will let us select the appropriate target and the optimal chronic stimulation pattern.

Abstract: Many articles dealing with individual cell lag phase determination assume that growth, when observed, comes from one cell. This assumption is not in agreement with the Poisson distribution, which uses the probability of growth in a sample to predict how many samples contain one, two, or some other number of cells. This article analyses and compares different approaches to improve the accuracy of lag phase estimation of individual cells and micropopulations. It argues that if the highest initial load, as predicted by the Poisson distribution, is assigned to the sample with the shortest lag phase, the second highest to the sample with the second shortest lag phase and so on, the resulting lag phase distributions would be more accurate. This study also proposes the use of a robust test, permutation test, to compare lag phase distributions obtained in different situations.

Abstract: this paper defends that the act of the concept depends on the conceptual habit. the act of the concept knows two real causes of physical reality: material and formal. one of them, the formal cause, is the real universal (unum) which is present in a plurality of material subjects (in multis). the real universal is different from the logical universal. the habit does not know of causes, but the acts of the concept. so, it permits to distinguish between the act of knowledge that knows the real universal and the act that knows the logical universal.

Abstract: this paper claims that the study method of human education cannot not assume that man is a single entity, as man is composed by multiple dualities. education is framed within radical human realities. first, a distinction is made between act of being and essence. after showing the dualities of the act of being human (or transcendental dualities) and those of essence, the paper highlights the dualities: education-personal love, education-family, male-female, masculine education-feminine education, parents-children and the consequent dualities: paternal-filial, home-school, educate-learn, enterprise-university and finally human personal education-divine personal education.

Abstract: the article exposes an educational attitude that stubbornly accepts "fideism": an attitude found among many university teachers and students who want to be and regard themselves as "good" men and women. the nature of this error is described, along with some of its more common manifestations in the university environment. fideism is cited as being neither a natural human attitude, nor a christian attitude. it is contrary to both natural reasoning and the doctrine of the faith. the article ends with several guidelines on how to deal with this educational disorientation.

Abstract: in this paper, a theoretical framework of the armed conflict is presented in the first place and then, the main milestones of the appearance and development of ihr and its regulations are outlined. subsequently, the paper makes a general outline of its applications in the colombian conflict. finally, there is a proposal aiming at raising awareness of the need for an educational project that reinforces the ihr proposals and guides its eventual formulation. this proposal is made on the basis of a conception of education which is not reduced to training but regards the human attribute as a foundation for the know how to do. it aims at an understanding of ihr not as a simple regulation of the war, but as a way of living under the principles of justice and respect for human dignity. this would cause a person formed in these principles, not only to face conflict situations in a non-violent way but also, as a last resort, to contribute with their attitude to the prevention of war. on this basis, fewer actors of the armed conflict will be willing to commit atrocious actions which could backfire.

Abstract: this study looks at method, topic and education with respect to the supreme human virtue: friendship. it begins with a review of the fundamental theories put forth by the prominent thinkers in the history of philosophy. secondly, it indicates the appropriate cognitive method for the study of friendship is not rational, but akin to that of an innate habit (synderesis or the ego). some of the non-ethical implications of this approach are outlined. the requirements for friendship in its two most important environments (family and education) are discussed, and the author offers a thesis on how to educate students in this virtue.

Abstract: this proposal stems from two projects of the eco research team at the university of tolima titled "business training educational project geared to social groups outside universities and technical training centers" and "design and implementation of a virtual learning environment (vle) aimed at entrepreneurial training of university students". the learning objective is to orient an entrepreneur attitude (entrepreneurship) towards an enterprising attitude in a pedagogical way based on the use of information and communication technologies. the vle is called "from entrepreneurs to business people." in june of 2008, it was tested with 22 business administration students for the purpose of demonstrating that the vle facilitates the development of entrepreneurial and business competencies.

Abstract: vale la pena aclarar que este trabajo fue realizado a finales del a?o 2000, por consiguiente las cifras que aquí se encuentran han podido sufrir variaciones durante el presente a?o. ?existe alguna relación entre esta guerra que nos azota desde hace más de cuatro décadas y los niveles de pobreza que presenta el país? por conflicto armado me refiero básicamente al problema con la guerrilla. a los secuestros, a las extorsiones, a los bloqueos a las carreteras, a las voladuras de torres de energía y oleoductos, y a las demás acciones terroristas. mientras que por pobreza hago alusión a una mayor escasez de nuestros limitados recursos. a que la "torta de la riqueza" que nos tenemos que repartir todos los colombianos se hace cada vez más peque?a. y lo que es peor aún, que la porción que les corresponde a los ciudadanos menos favorecidos es la más afectada. ?el conflicto armado que actualmente está padeciendo nuestro país es entonces una causa o una consecuencia de la pobreza? por una parte, la incapacidad del estado para satisfacer las necesidades básicas de muchos ciudadanos (educación, salud, seguridad, empleo, etc.) es causa directa de nuestro conflicto armado. por otra, el conflicto armado le quita competitividad a nuestros productos, provoca una fuga masiva de capital tanto económico como humano, produce desempleo, etc. el problema adquiere más bien la dimensión y las características de un círculo vicioso. yo considero que se genera violencia cuando hay un estado incapaz de satisfacer las necesidades más elementales de algunos miembros de la sociedad. sin embargo, de la misma manera creo que toda forma de violencia destruye la riqueza.

Abstract: this work investigates what is the philosophical realism. it offers a synthesis of what has been the realistic philosophy up to today regarding his discovery of the diverse senses of the act: pure act, act of being created, intellect agent, cognitive innate and acquired habits, immanent cognitive operations, virtues of the will, acts of wanting. after that, it he proposes who it is possible to progress nowadays in the realism: discovering other senses of the act.
