Simultaneous Deformations of Lie Algebroids and Lie Subalgebroids

Abstract: The $L_\infty$-algebra is an algebraic structure suitable for describing deformation problems. In this paper we construct one $L_\infty$-algebra, which turns out to be a differential graded Lie algebra, to control the deformations of Lie algebroids and a second one to control the deformations of Lie subalgebroids. We also combine these two $L_\infty$-algebras into one to control the simultaneous deformations of a Lie algebroid and its Lie subalgebroids. The results generalize the deformation theory of Lie algebra and Lie subalgebras. Applications of our results include deformations of foliations, deformations of complex structures and deformations of homomorphisms of Lie algebroids.
The Overall Study of the Business Intelligence Explorer

Abstract: Business Intelligence Explorer uses a new browsing method and the framework incorporates visualization, web mining and clustering techniques to support effective exploration of knowledge. To examine whether the business intelligence explorer did optimize the search result or not, this paper chose three research objects, Google, Quintura, Clusty, and conducted an analysis of variance in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and usability. The result shows that visualization and clustering techniques offers practical implications for search engine users.
Enantiomeric Separation and Determination of the Enantiomeric Impurity of Armodafinil by Capillary Electrophoresis with Sulfobutyl Ether-β-cyclodextrin as Chiral Selector

Abstract: A selective capillary electrophoresis method using sulfobutyl ether-β-cyclodextrin as a chiral selector was developed and validated for the determination of the enantiomeric impurity of (R)-modafinil, i.e., armodafinil. Several parameters were optimized for a satisfactory enantioresolution, including the type and concentration of chiral selector and organic modifier, pH of background electrolyte (BGE), capillary temperature. The finally adopted condition was: 20 mmol/L phosphate buffer at pH 7.5, containing 20 mmol/L sulfobutyl ether-β-cyclodextrin and 20% methanol, at temperature of 25 °C. A good resolution of 3.3 for the two enantiomers of modafinil was achieved by applying the optimal conditions. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) of (S)-modafinil were 1.25 μg/mL and 2.50 μg/mL, respectively. The established method was also proven to display good selectivity, repeatability, linearity and accuracy. Finally, the method was used to investigate the enantiomeric purity of armodafinil in bulk samples.

Abstract: Sinology in the West is an immediate product of the culture clashes between the East and the West ever since the great era of Geographic Discovery, with its keynote varying with the changing importance of the two civilizations. The seventeenth and eighteenth centuries constituted the early period of Sinology. Missionar- ies to China, especially those Jesuits, immersed themselves in the Chinese culture and thus had a fairly deep comprehension of Chinese society, by means of either staying at the court or going to the grassroots. With the help of Chinese scholars, they studied many Chinese cultural classics and therefore presented the study of Sinology with a high starting point. They prepared handsome raw materials for the full-fledged Sinology in and after the nineteenth century, edited many books serving various functions,laid foundation of the field of Sinol- ogy, and scored series of achievements in the early researches.

Abstract: In this work, ultrathin sections from longitudinal polyacrylonitrile (PAN) based T700 and T300 carbon fibers were prepared by ultramicrotomy, a promising graphene based thin films were developed in one step at ambient temperature. It is investigated that the network-graphene planes composed with carbon atoms are partly straight and partly twisted in the thin films prepared from T700 carbon fibers, the distance between the carbon atoms of network-graphene plane decreases, the order design of graphene in the films prepared from T700 carbon fibers is denser and its arrangement shows a preferred orientation along the drawing direction, its consistency of the neighboring graphene based planes is better, moreover, the relative content of the forming SP2-hybridized orbit of carbon atoms in the films prepared from T700 carbon fibers is higher, in the other words, the fact of the graphene based film prepared from carbon fibers without having the characteristic of skin-core structure has been verified.
Clutch Frequency Affects the Offspring Size-Number Trade-Off in Lizards

Abstract: Studies of lizards have shown that offspring size cannot be altered by manipulating clutch size in species with a high clutch frequency. This raises a question of whether clutch frequency has a key role in influencing the offspring size-number trade-off in lizards.
A Simple Sizing Algorithm for Stand-Alone PV/Wind/Battery Hybrid Microgrids

Abstract: In this paper, we develop a simple algorithm to determine the required number of generating units of wind-turbine generator and photovoltaic array, and the associated storage capacity for stand-alone hybrid microgrid. The algorithm is based on the observation that the state of charge of battery should be periodically invariant. The optimal sizing of hybrid microgrid is given in the sense that the life cycle cost of system is minimized while the given load power demand can be satisfied without load rejection. We also report a case study to show the efficacy of the developed algorithm.

Abstract: Based on reviews of the traditional theory of equality on distribution of income, this paper compares the equality on distribution of income and the equality on distribution of natural resources. It concludes that the equality on distribution of natural resources contains two meanings, i.e., extragenerational equality and intergenerational equality. The extragenerational equality is expounded at the angle of time. The extragenerational equality has three levels of meaning which are equality on regularity, equality on different generations, and the compensation. The paper analyses the devotions which the natural resources accounting theory gives to the extragenerational equality. It also uses a simple mode of transfer of wealth to judge the equality on distribution of natural resources. The intergenerational equality compares different countries and different groups in a country. The present conditions and the main reasons accountable for the inequality are analysed and the meanings of equality of different groups are discussed.
Healthcare Resource Utilization and Associated Costs in Patients with Advanced Melanoma Receiving First-Line Ipilimumab  [PDF]

Abstract: Background: To describe healthcare costs, excluding ipilimumab drug costs, in patients with advanced melanoma receiving ipilimumab in the US community practice setting. Methods: This was a retrospective chart review of unresectable stage III/IV melanoma patients who received first-line ipilimumab monotherapy between 04/2011 and 09/2012. Healthcare resource utilization included inpatient, emergency, specialist and hospice visits, laboratory tests, radiation, surgeries, and nursing home stays. Publicly available US unit costs were applied to each resource type to estimate costs, which were analyzed by time periods: during ipilimumab treatment, post-ipilimumab treatment (post-regimen), and within 90 days prior to death (pre-death). Generalized linear mixed models were used to explore cost predictors during the treatment period, on a per-dose-interval basis, defined as the time between ipilimumab doses. Results: Data were abstracted from 273 patient charts at 34 sites. Excluding ipilimumab drug costs, total monthly costs during the treatment regimen, post-regimen, and pre-death periods were $690, $2151, and $5123, respectively. Total healthcare costs were 27 times higher during dose intervals with a grade 3/4 adverse event compared with intervals without a grade 3/4 adverse event. Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status ≥ 2 (vs 0) was also associated with significantly higher cost per dose interval. Conclusions: In this population, monthly costs exclusive of drug were significantly lower during the treatment period than in subsequent periods. Unfavorable ECOG PS was associated with significant increases in cost per dose interval. Grade 3/4 adverse events were associated with a marked increase in healthcare costs, but occurred in a small proportion of dose intervals.
Synchronized output regulation of nonlinear multi-agent systems

Abstract: This paper considers the synchronized output regulation (SOR) problem of nonlinear multi-agent systems with switching graph. The SOR means that all agents regulate their outputs to synchronize on the output of a predefined common exosystem. Each agent constructs its local exosystem with the same dynamics as that of the common exosystem and exchanges the state information of the local exosystem. It is shown that the SOR is solvable under the assumptions same as that for nonlinear output regulation of a single agent, if the switching graph satisfies the bounded interconnectivity times condition. Both state feedback and output feedback are addressed. A numerical simulation is made to show the efficacy of the analytic results.
