RESPUESTA DE LA FRECUENCIA CARDIACA Y PERCEPCIóN SUBJETIVA DEL ESFUERZO EN PRINCIPIANTES, DURANTE LA PRáCTICA DE CICLISMO INDOOR

Abstract: RESUMEN El Ciclismo Indoor es una actividad para practicar ejercicio físico de manera colectiva muy popular en los centros de fitness. El propósito de este estudio fue evaluar la respuesta de la frecuencia cardiaca, las intensidades alcanzadas y la percepción de esfuerzo percibida en sujetos principiantes durante una sesión de ciclismo indoor. Cincuenta y nueve sujetos voluntarios, de un centro deportivo privado, con edades de 13 a 48 a os (media ± desviación típica: 32,1 ± 10,2 a os) participaron en este estudio. La frecuencia cardiaca fue registrada durante toda la sesión. La percepción subjetiva del esfuerzo realizado fue evaluada tras finalizar la sesión. La sesión de ciclismo indoor estuvo compuesta de 10 minutos de calentamiento, seguida de una fase principal de 25 minutos de pedalada en llano, monta a sentado y monta a de pie, finalizando con una fase de vuelta a la calma de 10 minutos. La intensidad media de la sesión, en base a la frecuencia cardiaca de reserva, y la percepción subjetiva del esfuerzo total de la sesión fueron de 62,1% ± 10,5% y 14,2 ± 1,8 puntos, respectivamente. La mayor parte del tiempo de la sesión estuvo asociada a intensidades moderadas y altas. La intensidad durante la sesión de ciclismo indoor en adultos principiantes fue moderada-alta. Estos datos sugieren que el ciclismo indoor debe ser considerado como un ejercicio físico de alta intensidad para sujetos principiantes, aconsejándose el uso de sistemas de control de intensidad del esfuerzo. Palabras Clave: ciclismo indoor; RPE; ejercicio cardiovascular; fitness. ABSTRACT Indoor Cycling has become a popular cardio-vascular activity for group exercise classes in the fitness centers. The purposes of this study were to measure the heart rate response and rating of perceived exertion in novice subjects performing a 45-min indoor cycling session. Fifty-nine subjects volunteered ranged from 13 to 48 years (mean ± SD, age: 32.1 ± 10.2 years old) were recruited from the clients of a private fitness club. They participated in a 45-min Spinning cycle indoor session. Heart rate was measured during the session and the overall rating of perceived exertion (overall-RPE) was measured to finish the session. The indoor cycling session was comprised of a warm-up (10 min), followed by a 25 min trial (cardiovascular phase) of flat, run, seated climb and standing climb activities, followed by a cool down (10 min). Abstract: El objetivo principal del estudio fue determinar la morfología del raquis e inclinación pélvica en bipedestación en tres grupos de ciclistas de distintas edades, con un volumen de entrenamiento y experiencia similares. Un total de 65 ciclistas fueron divididos en tres grupos de edad: grupo 1 ( 30 a os; n = 20); grupo 2 (entre 31 y 40 a os; n = 25); y grupo 3 ( 41 a os; n = 20). Posteriormente se les evaluó la morfología sagital del raquis torácico, lumbar e inclinación pélvica en bipedestación, mediante el sistema Spinal Mouse. Los valores angulares medios para el raquis torácico, lumbar e inclinación pélvica para el grupo 1 fueron: 46,60 ± 10,09; - 26,40 ± 7,17; 13,20 ± 4,94; para el grupo 2: 47,64 ± 8,58; -26,92 ± 6,34; 12,24 ± 4,45; y para el grupo 3: 50,75 ± 12,77; -20,70 ± 10,10 y 8,15 ± 8,21. Se encontraron diferencias significativas en el raquis lumbar e inclinación pélvica en los grupos 1 y 2, con respecto al 3. En conclusión, la edad es un factor que condiciona la morfología del raquis e inclinación pélvica en ciclistas que presentan los mismos a os de práctica y volumen de entrenamiento en ciclismo. Abstract: the aim of this study was to determine the sagittal spinal morphology of thoracic and lumbar spine in young kayakers. a total of 66 young sprint kayakers, 36 males and 30 females (mean age: 16,22 ± 0,80) participated in the study. sagittal spinal curvatures of thoracic and lumbar spine in standing, lying prone and maximal trunk flexion with knees extended (sit-and-reach test) were measured with a spinal mouse. thoracic kyphosis was higher in males than in females in all three analyzed postures, although greater differences were found in the sit-and-reach test. the frequency of thoracic hyperkyphosis was higher in males (42.1%) than in females (21.4%). the angular values when lying prone were more reduced than in standing (p < 0.001). paddlers with thoracic kyperkyphosis showed a reduced thoracic angle when lying prone (37.85 ± 9.42) than in standing (50.95 ± 5.12). no significant differences between sexes were found in the lumbar curve. a predominance of neutral angular values was found in the lumbar curve (81.6% in males and 75.0% in females). in conclusion, the sagittal spinal morphology showed a trend toward thoracic hyperkyphosis in junior kayakers, specially in males. however, these curves were non-structural deformities. lumbar spine showed a high percentage of neutral values. kayak training is associated to improved lumbar intervertebral flexion and increased lumbar hyperkyphotic postures. it is necessary to include postural training to improve the spinal morphology of young paddlers.
Morfología Sagital del Raquis en Palistas Jóvenes de Alto Nivel Sagittal Spinal Morphology in Young Highly-Trained Paddlers

Abstract: El objetivo fue valorar la morfología raquídea del raquis torácico y lumbar en piragüistas de la modalidad de kayak de categoría cadete. A un total de 66 kayakistas de aguas tranquilas, 36 varones y 30 mujeres de categoría cadete (media de edad 16,22 ± 0,80 a os), se les evaluó mediante un Spinal Mouse la morfología sagital del raquis torácico y lumbar en bipedestación, decúbito prono y en flexión máxima del tronco en sedentación con rodillas extendidas (test sit-and-reach). La cifosis torácica en los varones fue superior en las tres posiciones analizadas, especialmente en el test sit-and-reach. El porcentaje de casos con hipercifosis torácica fue de un 42,1% en los varones y un 21,4% en las mujeres. Los valores angulares en decúbito prono fueron inferiores que en bipedestación (p < 0,001). Aquellos deportistas con hipercifosis torácica tenían un valor angular menor en decúbito prono (37,85 ± 9,42) que en bipedestación (50,95 ± 5,12). En la curva lumbar no se encontraron diferencias entre géneros en las posiciones evaluadas. En el raquis lumbar, predominaron las angulaciones consideradas normales (81,6% en varones y 75% en mujeres). En conclusión, la morfología sagital del raquis en kayakistas de categoría cadete se caracteriza por una tendencia a la hipercifosis torácica, especialmente en los varones, si bien se trata de curvas no estructuradas. En cuanto a la curva lumbar en bipedestación presenta un alto porcentaje de ángulos considerados normales. La práctica del piragüismo/canotaje de aguas tranquilas en su modalidad de kayak genera una mayor capacidad de flexión intervertebral lumbar, que produce un alto porcentaje de morfotipos cifóticos. Es preciso adoptar medidas de intervención postural para mejorar la morfología raquídea de los palistas de aguas tranquilas. SPINAL POSTURE OF THORACIC AND LUMBAR SPINE AND PELVIC TILT IN HIGHLY TRAINED CYCLISTS

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate sagittal thoracic and lumbar spinal curvatures and pelvic tilt in elite and master cyclists when standing on the floor, and sitting on a bicycle at three different handlebar-hand positions. A total of 60 elite male cyclists (mean age: 22.95 ± 3.38 years) and 60 master male cyclists (mean age: 34.27 ± 3.05 years) were evaluated. The Spinal Mouse system was used to measure sagittal thoracic and lumbar curvature in standing on the floor and sitting positions on the bicycle at three different handlebar-hand positions (high, medium, and low). The mean values for thoracic and lumbar curvatures and pelvic tilt in the standing position on the floor were 48.17 ± 8.05o, -27.32 ± 7.23o, and 13.65 ± 5.54o, respectively, for elite cyclists and 47.02 ± 9.24o, -25.30 ± 6.29o, and 11.25 ± 5.17o for master cyclists. A high frequency of thoracic hyperkyphosis in the standing position was observed (58.3% in elite cyclists and 53.3% in master cyclists), whereas predominately neutral values were found in the lumbar spine (88.3% and 76.7% in elite and master cyclists, respectively). When sitting on the bicycle, the thoracic curve was at a lower angle in the three handlebar-hand positions with respect to the standing position on the floor in both groups (p < 0.01). The lumbar curve adopted a kyphotic posture. In conclusion, cyclists present a high percentage of thoracic hyperkyphotic postures in standing positions on the floor. However, thoracic hyperkyphosis is not directly related to positions adopted on the bicycle

Abstract: El objetivo del presente estudio fue analizar la disposición angular del raquis torácico y lumbar en bipedestación y sedentación relajada en mujeres trabajadoras de una empresa hortofrutícola. Un total de 50 mujeres (media de edad: 43,62±8,43 a os) fueron evaluadas mediante un Spinal Mouse en bipedestación y en sedentación relajada. Los valores angulares medios para el raquis torácico y lumbar fueron de 32,74±8,76 y -21,66±19,12 en bipedestación y de 36,32±10,55 y -1,08±18,14, en sedentación. En bipedestación, un elevado porcentaje de casos (86% y 68,3%) presentaban una cifosis torácica y lordosis lumbar dentro de los valores de normalidad. En sedentación, el 74% presentaban hipercifosis torácica y el 20% una inversión lumbar. En conclusión, aunque en bipedestación la mayoría de las mujeres presentaban una morfología del raquis dentro de los valores de normalidad, en sedentación se observó un elevado porcentaje de casos con hipercifosis torácica y el raquis lumbar en inversión. Debido a las consecuencias negativas que se asocian a dichas desalineaciones raquídeas, es recomendable aplicar programas de mejora de la actitud postural en estas trabajadoras, preferentemente en su contexto laboral. While sitting the 74.0% and 20.0% presented thoracic hyperkyphosis and lumbar kyphosis. In conclusion, a high percentaje of women workers presented normality values in standing posture, although a high percentage of women were found with thoracic hyperkyphosis and lumbar flexed while sitting relaxed. It is recommended that these women carry out a program to improve their actitudinal postures in their work place.

Abstract: the aim of this study was to determine the sagittal spinal morphology of thoracic and lumbar spine in relaxed standing and sitting on the bycicle in master 40 cyclists. a total of 50 master 40 male cyclists (mean age: 44.02 ± 2.51 years) were evaluated. the spinal mouse system was used to measure the sagittal thoracic and lumbar curve in standing and sitting on the bicycle at three different handlebar-hand positions (high, medium, and low). the values for thoracic and lumbar curvatures in standing were 49.42 ± 9.00 and -22.74 ± 9.38, respectively. a high frecuency of thoracic hyperkyphosis in standing was observed (68%). when sitting on the bicycle the thoracic curve showed lower angles in the three handlebar.hand positions that in standing. the lumbar curve adopted a kyphotic posture. the standing thoracic hyperkyphosis in master 40 cyclists may be related to other factors than the posture adopted on the bicycle.

Abstract: the aim of this study was to describe kinanthropometric characteristics of young male sprint canoeists and to compare their somatotype and proportionality with olympic paddlers. thirty three young sprint canoeists, aged 15 and 16 years old, were assessed using a battery of 41 anthropometric dimensions. body composition, somatotypes and phantom z-scores were calculated. mean somatotype of male canoeists was best described as balanced mesomorphy. young canoeists had lower ratings of mesomorphy and lower proportional dimensions in upper body girths and breadths than olympic paddlers. the data provided in this study could be used as a guideline for talent identification in sprint canoeing.
