Caracterización de los procesos neumónicos en becerros lecheros de la región de Tijuana, Baja California, México

Abstract: Este estudio se realizó con objeto de caracterizar los procesos neumónicos sufridos por becerras lecheras de Tijuana, Baja California, México, así como conocer la importancia relativa de los principales agentes bacterianos involucrados. En 12 establos, con distintos tipos de alojamientos para sus crías, se obtuvieron muestras pulmonares de un total de 100 becerras, de 15 días a 4 meses de edad, con antecedentes de haber padecido neumonía. La mayor parte de los problemas neumónicos se presentaron en granjas que alojaron a sus crías dentro de edificios, mientras que las que utilizaban casetas exteriores mostraron el menor índice de mortalidad ocasionado por neumonías. Las muestras pulmonares fueron sembradas por duplicado en agar sangre y agar chocolate, e incubadas a 37oC por 24 h en aerobiosis o microaerobiosis, respectivamente. Las bacterias aisladas fueron identificadas de acuerdo a los métodos bioquímicos rutinarios, utilizando cepas de referencia como control. Se aisló Pasteurella multocida en 34 animales, P. haemolytica en 31 casos y Haemophilus somnus en 11 ocasiones. Además se aislaron diversas bacterias consideradas como secundarias: Streptococcus spp en 12 casos y Staphylococcus spp en 7 animales. La totalidad de las cepas aisladas de P. multocida fueron clasificadas como del biotipo A, al igual que las 31 cepas de P. haemolytica. De estas últimas, 26 cepas (83.9%) se clasificaron como serotipo 1 y solamente 2 cepas se caracterizaron como serotipo 2, detectándose 3 cepas no tipificables.

Abstract: two new species of mandevilla (subgenus mandevilla) from peru are described and illustrated. mandevilla pristina is related to m. assimilis, m. holosericea and m. tubiflora, but differs by its leaves with domatia along the midvein, foliaceous bracts and longer sepals. mandevilla vasquezii is similar to m. cercophylla, but differs by the length of the corolla tube and stamen insertion point.

Abstract: a treatment of the apocynaceae s. str. (apocynoideae, rauvolfioideae) from uruguay is presented here. ten species from seven genera are recognized: aspidosperma quebracho-blanco, condylocarpon isthmicum, forsteronia glabrescens, mandevilla coccinea, m. emarginata, m. longiflora, m. petraea, rhabdadenia madida, tabernaemontana catharinensis, vinca major. descriptions, keys, distributional data and specimens examined are included. lectoypes are selected for dipladenia xanthosoma var. major, echites emarginatus, e. erectus, e. grandiflorus var. minor , e. pinifolius, laseguea erecta var. guilleminia f. griseo-olivacea, l. erecta var. obliquinervia f. ovata subf. griseo-fusca and subf. griseo-olivacea, l. guilleminiana, macrosiphonia verticillata var. intermedia, m. verticillata var. peduncularis, m. pinifolia f. glabrata and m. pinifolia f. setosa. a neotype is designated for aspidosperma quebracho-blanco.

Abstract: continuing with the revision of the genus prestonia (apocynoideae, echiteae), the following synonyms are proposed: prestonia finitima (p. annularis), p. hassleri (p. cyaniphylla), p. perplexa (p. didyma), p. lindmanii (p. lagoensis), and p. pickelii (p. quinquangularis). lectotypes for the following taxa are designated: echites denticulatus, e. didymus, e. suberosus, haemadictyon gaudichaudii, h. ovatum, prestonia finitima, and p. marginata.

Abstract: the family apocynaceae s. str. (subfamilies apocynoideae and rauvolfioideae) is revised for guatemala, central america. thirty one genera and 59 species are treated, including five introduced genera (allamanda, beaumontia, catharanthus, nerium, and vinca). the most speciesrich genus is mandevilla with six taxa, followed by echites, prestonia, stemmadenia, and tabernaemontana (4 species), and cascabela (3 species). no endemic species are reported. keys, descriptions, common names and representative specimen citations are included, together with an appendix with the complete list of material examined. lectotypes for cameraria oblongifolia and echites biflorus are designated.

Abstract: two new species of mandevilla (apocynoideae, mesechiteae) subgenus exothostemon, endemic to brasil, are described. mandevilla abortiva is somewhat related with m. huberi, m. obtusifolia and m. pachyphylla, and their relationships are discussed. mandevilla clandestina has been confused with m. scabra, but differs by its smaller flowers. full descriptions, illustrations and specimens examined are given for both taxa.

Abstract: roupala sessiliflora, a new species endemic to costa rica is described and illustrated. this new taxon is somewhat related to r. mexicana, but differs by its sessile flowers and shorter tepals. in addition, it is similar to r. cordifolia, but r. sessiliflora differs by its broadly elliptic to obovate leaf blades, cuneate at the base, sessile flowers, and shorter tepals.

(apocynaceae s. l. subfamilies apocynoideae and rauvolfioideae) is reviewed for the republic of el salvador, central america. seventeen native genera (allotoonia,alstonia, aspidosperma, cascabela, echites, fernaldia, forsteronia, mandevilla, mesechites, pentalinon,plumeria, prestonia, rauvolfia, stemmadenia, tabernaemontana, thevetia, vallesia) are accounted for, as well as five introduced genera (allamanda, beaumontia, carissa, catharanthus,nerium). the most species-rich genera are mandevilla and prestonia, with four species each. a total of 34 species are reported. family, genus, and species descriptions are provided, together with keys and representative specimen citations. bibliographic references, common names, uses (when known), and photographs are also included.
