NbC precipitates EELS spectra in a very low carbon microalloyed steel

Abstract: In this paper a characterization study by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) of NbC precipitates in microalloyed steel is presented. The steel was hot rolled in a laboratory scale two-high reversing mill. The shape, size, location, and number of particles per unit area in the steel microstructure are reported. The particles were semi quantitatively analyzed for the heavier alloying elements using EDS, while EELS was used for the lighter elements, e. g. carbon and nitrogen. The EELS study of the precipitates reveals that the carbon is present as a compound (NbC) without nitrogen. En este trabajo se presenta un estudio de caracterización por espectroscopia de pérdida de energía de electrones (EPEE) realizado en un microscopio electrónico de transmisión de los precipitados de NbC en un acero microaleado. El acero se laminó en caliente en un laminador dúo reversible escala laboratorio. Las partículas de precipitados se caracterizaron en tama os, formas y distribución y se analizaron semicuantitativamente para los elementos de aleación del acero más pesados, empleando un detector por dispersión de energías de rayos X, mientras que la EPEE se empleó para los elementos más ligeros, es decir, el carbono y el nitrógeno. El estudio por EPEE de los precipitados muestra que el carbono está presente como un compuesto (NbC) sin que se haya encontrado nitrógeno en los mismos.

Abstract: En este trabajo se presentan los resultados del estudio por microscopia electrónica de transmisión (MET) y EDX de los precipitados inducidos por deformación de NbC en un acero microaleado al niobio, deformado en caliente en un laminador dúo reversible escala laboratorio. Se dan los resultados del estudio mediante MET de las diferencias de forma, tama o, número de partículas por unidad de área y distribución de los precipitados a lo largo de la microestructura. Se muestran los análisis de EDX y el estudio por pérdida de energía de electrones (PEELS) realizados en la matriz del acero y de los precipitados. An outdoor test facility for the Cherenkov Telescope Array mirrors

Abstract: The Cherenkov Telescopes Array (CTA) is planned to be an Observatory for very high energy gamma ray astronomy and will consist of several tens of telescopes which account for a reflective surface of more than 10000 m$^2$. The mirrors of these telescopes will be formed by a set of facets. Different technological solutions, for a fast and cost efficient production of light-weight mirror facets are under test inside the CTA Consortium. Most of them involve composite structures whose behavior under real observing conditions is not yet fully tested. An outdoor test facility has been built in one of the candidate sites for CTA, in Argentina (San Antonio de los Cobres [SAC], 3600m a.s.l) in order to monitor the optical and mechanical properties of these facets exposed to the local atmospheric conditions for a given period of time. In this work we present the preliminary results of the first Middle Size Telescope (MST) mirror-monitoring campaign, started in 2013.

Abstract: Silver sulfide hierarchical structures with unique dorsal spine morphology were successfully synthesized on mechanically deformed silver substrates by simple solid-vapor reactions. It has been found that it is possible to change the structures morphology by changing the reagent gas composition. The carbon monoxide (CO) presence in a reactive sulfur atmosphere was found to be the key for growing the dorsal spine structures. In all cases, the Ag2S structures grew on the edge of the silver substrates where high plastic deformation occurred.
Stability analysis of a certain class of time-varying hybrid dynamical systems

Abstract: in this work we study the exponential stability of a class of hybrid dynamical systems that comprises the sampled-data systems consisting of the interconnection of a time-varying nonlinear continuous-time plant and a time-varying nonlinear discrete-time controller, assuming that the sampling periods are not necessarily constant. for this purpose we develop an indirect lyapunov method of analysis, and show that under adequate hypotheses the exponential stability of the hybrid dynamical system is equivalent to the exponential stability of its linearization.

Abstract: in this paper, we prove the existence of norm-estimators for switched nonlinear systems. the proof is based on an existing converse lyapunov theorem for ioss nonlinear systems, and on the association of the switched system with a nonlinear system with inputs and disturbances that take values in a compact set.

Abstract: in this paper we obtain the extension of results on input-to-output stability properties of switched systems to switched systems whose dynamics are described by perturbed forced differential equations and whose outputs are obtained via switched perturbed functions. we also present lyapunov characterizations of these input-output stability properties, obtained in terms of certain conceptual output functions.

Abstract: knowledge of plant elemental composition is useful to know their nutritional needs and the kind of litter created around them. plants can to form silicon phytolites, which are useful in paleontology and archaeology. plants were collected from central-occident of mexico, its elemental composition were analyzed by scanning electron microscope equipped with an energy dispersive x-ray microanalyzer sem-eds. semi-parasitic plants (photosynthetic plants than take nutriments from the host plant) accumulated high quantities of potassium and chloride ions to use as osmolites. tillandsia recurvata, which is epiphyte, accumulates high quantities of silicon, as well as, cyperus sp., this one reported as silicon accumulator. tagetes micrantha that is used in mexican food could contribute with mineral nutrients like potassium and magnesium.
