Meaning Making, Uncertainty Reduction, and Autobiographical Memory: A Replication and Reinterpretation of the TALE Questionnaire  [PDF]
Orlando J. Olivares
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2012.32028
Abstract: The present research was guided by two primary goals: 1) replicate the empirical structure of the Thinking about Life Experiences (TALE) questionnaire (Bluck, Alea, Habermas, & Rubin, 2005); and 2) explore how the functions of autobiographical memory may interact and support one another. Toward the second goal, it is suggested that the potential functions of autobiographical memory may be understood from an existential framework that is grounded by two principles: humans are driven by a need for meaning and meaning is found in relation to others and other things in the world. In this pursuit of meaning making, and a desire to know what to expect from the world, humans seek to create a coherent set of relations among the various existential elements in their lives (Heine, Proulx, & Vohs, 2006); accordingly, humans strive to reduce uncertainty about the world and their place in it. As such, the TALE was reinterpreted using a relational framework and a 28-item self-report measure was developed. Participants completed the TALE and the reinterpreted TALE (RTALE). The results provide some support for the 3-factor structure of the TALE. The proposed 4-factor structure of the RTALE was supported.

Pastos y Forrajes , 2009,
Abstract: a collection of 50 teramnus spp. accessions was evaluated, with the objective of selecting those with better performance during the establishment stage. the study was conducted at the eepf ?indio hatuey?, on a compacted ferralitic red soil. for that this stage was divided in two phases, the first one corresponded to monitoring during the time the plants were kept in bags and the second phase since they were transferred to the field until such stage was completed; in this second phase cover was estimated every 15 days and the following scale was used: 1= 10-20% covered area (very little covered), 2= 21-40% covered area (little covered), 3= 41-60% covered area (partially covered), 4= 61-80% covered area (covered) and 5= >80% area covered (well covered). when monitoring in the fist stage of establishment it was observed that 98% was sown in bags (49 accessions), because seed was not obtained from one of them; from these accessions only 67,3% (33 accessions) could be transferred to the field, because the rest (16 accessions) died before reaching the height established for that purpose. from the plants transferred to the field five died during the first 15 days of evaluation, for which 28 remained. from them, 67,8% (19 accessions) showed the best cover values during the establishment, for which to perform their evaluation during the exploitation stage is recommended.

On the Null Trajectories in Conformal Weyl Gravity
J. R. Villanueva,Marco Olivares
Physics , 2013, DOI: 10.1088/1475-7516/2013/06/040
Abstract: In this work we find analytical solutions to the null geodesics around a black hole in the conformal Weyl gravity. Exact expressions for the horizons are found, and they depend on the cosmological constant and the coupling constants of the conformal Weyl gravity. Then, we study the radial motion from the point of view of the proper and coordinate frames, and compare it with that found in spacetimes of general relativity. The angular motion is also examined qualitatively by means of an effective potential; quantitatively, the equation of motion is solved in terms of $\wp$-Weierstrass elliptic function. Thus, we find the deflection angle for photons without using any approximation, which is a novel result for this kind of gravity.
Gravitational Rutherford scattering and Keplerian orbits for electrically charged bodies in heterotic string theory
J. R. Villanueva,Marco Olivares
Physics , 2015,
Abstract: Properties of the motion of electrically charged particles in the background of the Gibbons-Maeda-Garfinkle-Horowitz-Strominger (GMGHS) black hole is presented in this paper. Radial and angular motion are studied analytically for different values of the fundamental parameter. Therefore, gravitational Rutherford scattering and Keplerian orbits are analysed in detail. Finally, this paper complements previous work by Fernando for null geodesics (Phys. Rev. D 85: 024033, 2012), Olivares & Villanueva (Eur. Phys. J. C 73: 2659, 2013) and Blaga (Automat. Comp. Appl. Math. 22, 41 (2013); Serb. Astron. J. 190, 41 (2015)) for time-like geodesics.

International Journal of Clinical and Health Psychology , 2009,

International Journal of Clinical and Health Psychology , 2006,

Materials Sciences and Applications (MSA) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/msa.2013.41002
Abstract:

An epoxy penetration technique was used to reproduce and analyze the pitting corrosion process occurred at a steel coupon surface. The samples were exposed to the resin under high vacuum conditions, in order to fulfill the pits caused by the corrosion process. With this technique, a 3D image of the corrosion damages was obtained. Once the image of the damaged surface was obtained, a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) was used to analyze the morphology of the pits exhibited by the steel sample. The results were satisfactory, as different parameters such as the diameter, shape and depth of the pits originated, along with the corrosion preferential path, could be established. According to the results, the use of the epoxy penetration technique may be considered as alternating pitting corrosion analysis technique.
