Heroes’ Dilemma and Believers’ Dilemma  [PDF]
Ismael Tabuar Fortunado
Open Journal of Philosophy (OJPP) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/ojpp.2016.63024
Abstract: Based on our knowledge, understanding, and wisdom, we choose. We sometimes cannot choose both, two or more and nothing. We either believe what we choose or not because of our intentions. Heroes’ dilemma and Believers’ dilemma are about two choices that both have negative results when chosen, but the person may choose the one better than the other based on his character. The author gave twelve examples, eight examples for heroes’ dilemma and four examples for believers’ dilemma. The choice is the good. Heroes’ dilemma requires an act of heroism and believers’ dilemma requires an act of courage. Actions analyses and textual analyses are observed.
Radiator Vibration Fatigue Analysis  [PDF]
Toure Ismael, Buyun Sheng
Journal of Electronics Cooling and Thermal Control (JECTC) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/jectc.2017.71002
Abstract: This paper is the second step of our work. The first step presents a set of parametric studies performed on automotive radiators by designing different heat exchanger models. The analysis focuses on the cooling performance for automobile radiator by changing several dimensions of the radiator fin phase (P2.5, P2.4, P2.3, P2.2, and P2.1) as well as the importance of coolant flow lay-out on the radiator global performance [1]. The second step consists on the study of the vibration fatigue of the sample with the best heat dissipation performance we design (radiator P2.1). We use Hyper Mesh to proceed with the finite element model. Frequency response analysis is solved by using MSC. Nastran (MSC. MD. Nastran. v2010.1.3-MAGNiTUDE), fatigue durability ana-lysis by using MSC Fatigue. In this experiment, the frequency response of the unit load (the unit load is 1 g) is analyzed. Based on the analysis of the frequency response of the unit load, the fatigue life of the radiator is analyzed by the PSD (power spectral density) curve and the S-N curve. From our experiments results, we observe that the radiator we design meets the international requirements of fatigue vibration under automobile normal working condition.

Case Reports in Clinical Medicine (CRCM) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/crcm.2015.412075
Abstract: Osteosarcomas are primary malignant tumors that are characterized by the production of osteoid or immature bone. However they are the most common primary malignant tumor of bone in adolescents and young adults, the diagnosis of osteosarcoma is often delayed. It is because of the rarity of population, the variety of findings, nonspecific symptoms and so on. A 46-year-old male patient had left knee pain for 3 months without any symptoms in his right knee. At a nearby clinic, X-ray of his healthy side was taken by chance. The irregular bone formation was however seen in the metaphysis of the distal femur with spreading into the soft tissues. No abnormal findings were pointed out at his left side knee. A diagnosis of pleomorphic sarcoma was made by incisional biopsy. Pulmonary CT showed multiple nodules which were considered as multiple lung metastases. He was diagnosed as right femoral sarcoma, clinical stage IV (T1N0M1a) by TNM classification. He underwent preoperative chemotherapy, followed by limb-saving operation. No preoperative complaints were found in his left knee. Final diagnosis of surgically resected specimen was osteoblastic osteosarcoma which showed neoplastic osteoid formation within pleomorphic malignant cells. However, osteosarcomas occurred in adult populations are sometimes occurred as a secondary neoplasms, he had a history of diabetes but no other medical history, such as radiation therapy for a solid cancer, Paget’s disease, other benign bone lesions or inherited conditions. As far as our knowledge, we believe that this is a first case report of asymptomatic incidental osteosarcoma.

Bioinorganic Chemistry and Applications , 2013, DOI: 10.1155/2013/909412
Abstract: A chromium-resistant fungus isolated from contaminated air with industrial vapors can be used for reducing toxic Cr(VI) to Cr(III). This study analyzes in vitro reduction of hexavalent chromium using cell free extract(s) of the fungus that was characterized based on optimal temperature, pH, use of electron donors, metal ions and initial Cr(VI) concentration in the reaction mixture. This showed the highest activity at 37°C and pH 7.0; there is an increase in Cr(VI) reductase activity with addition of NADH as an electron donor, and it was highly inhibited by Hg2+, Ca2+ and Mg2+, and azide, EDTA, and KCN. 1. Introduction Chromium (Cr) toxicity is one of the major causes of environmental pollution emanating from tannery effluents. This metal is used in the tanning of hides and leather, the manufacture of stainless steel, electroplating, and textile dyeing and used as a biocide in the cooling waters of nuclear power plants, resulting in chromium discharges causing environmental concerns [1]. Cr exists in nine valence states ranging from ?2 to +6. Of these states, only hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] and trivalent chromium [Cr(III)] have primary environmental significance because they are the most stable oxidation forms in the environment [2]. Both are found in various bodies of water and wastewaters [3]. Cr(VI) typically exists in one of these two forms: chromate ( ) or dichromate ( ), depending on the pH of the solution [3]. These two divalent oxyanions are very water soluble and poorly adsorbed by soil and organic matter, making them mobile in soil and groundwater [2]. Both chromate anions represent acute and chronic risks to animals and human health since they are extremely toxic, mutagenic, carcinogenic, and teratogenic [4]. In contrast to Cr(VI) forms, the Cr(III) species, predominantly hydroxides, oxides, or sulphates, are less water soluble, mobile (100 times less toxic) [5], and (1,000 times less) mutagenic [6]. The principal techniques for recovering or removing Cr(VI), from wastewater are chemical reduction and precipitation, adsorption on activated carbon, ion exchange, and reverse osmosis, in a basic medium [7]. However, these methods have certain drawbacks, namely, high cost, low efficiency, and generation of toxic sludge or other wastes that require disposal and imply operational complexity [8]. An alternative to these methods is the removal of heavy metal contaminants by microorganisms. The metal removal ability of microorganisms, including bacteria [2, 6, 8, 9], microalgae [7, 10], and fungi [1, 11], has been studied extensively. Fungi, in
Escuela y estratificación social en Chile: ?cuál es el rol de la municipalización y la educación particular subvencionada en la reproducción de la desigualdad social?
Puga,Ismael;
Estudios pedagógicos (Valdivia) , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-07052011000200013
Abstract: using data from the survey emsc 2001, the paper presents an empirical analysis of the impact of “municipalización” and the distinction between public and particular-subsidized (ps) schools into the future occupational achievement of individuals. the results seem concomitant with previous research which shows that ps schooling does not provide better pedagogic results than its counterpart once the students’ social origins are controlled, and further provide evidence for the effect of segregating students into different modalities of schooling into greater reproduction of social inequalities trough other indirect mechanisms. these mechanisms, i propose, should be tracked back to the segregation of networks and social capital, the differentiation as well of expectatives, and the establishment of distinct symbolic credentials which are recognized as such in the labor market. the ps schools, without really contributing to educational outputs, do generate greater inequelities of educational and occupational opportunities.

Reflexivity and adjustment strategies at the interfaces
Ismael Teomiro
Nordlyd : Troms? University Working Papers on Language & Linguistics / Institutt for Spr?k og Litteratur, Universitetet i Troms? , 2011,
Abstract: I argue in this work that Reinhart & Reuland’s (1993) conditions A and B hold for Spanish. I provide evidence supporting the hypothesis that this language makes use of both SE and SELF-anaphors. Inherent reflexive verbs undergo an internal argument reduction operation in the lexicon. However, the syntax always requires two arguments. Therefore certain clitics, which are SE-anaphors, are inserted in these derivations. This is a last-resort mechanism that makes an adjustment between the valence of the lexical entry of the verb and the requirements of the syntax in order for the derivation to converge at the C-I interface. These clitics are syntactic arguments. Nevertheless, they are not interpreted as semantic arguments since they violate the double chain condition, which forces nominal elements to share both a tense and thematic features with the verb and the tense heads. Non- inherent reflexive verbs require the presence of a SELF-anaphor, which is formed out of a SE-anaphor along with a protector SELF element. Therefore, both syntactic elements are interpreted as two distinguishable semantic elements at C-I despite the fact that there is binding between them both. The interpretation of both syntactic elements as just one semantic element is a pragmatic epiphenomenon.
