Ulbra e Movimento : Revista de Educa??o Física , 2010,
Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a program of dance education, focusing on ludoergomotricidade, aimed to reduce the difficulty that 18 adolescents with Down syndrome have in performing activities of a perceptual-motor,this was done during 36 sessions with 60 minutes each. To evaluate the effect caused bythe intervention adolescents were assessed at baseline, during and after the intervention, the Test of Motor Coordination based on proposed criteria for the diagnosis of DAMP(Deficits in Attention, Motor control and Perception). The evolution of the teens inDAMP was made from analysis of variance, which identified the relation of cause and effect between variables, since we obtained an F = 31.8273, which may be considered significant because the P value was by 0.01. Thus we can conclude that adolescents with DS have evolved as to the field of their bodies, developing and improving their chances of moving, finding new spaces and new ways of overcoming their limitations.

Meta : Avalia??o , 2011,

Brazilian Journal of Biomotricity , 2011,
Abstract: LIMA, A. P.; JESUS, G. P., CARDOSO, F. B.; SILVA, I. L.; BERESFORD, H. Uma avalia o da eficácia de um programa neuromotor de exercícios físicos para idosos. Brazilian Journal of Biomotricity, v. 5, n. 1, p. 26-33, 2011. Aging process is characterized by organic alterations, due to individual’s life style. The present study had the objective to evaluate the efficacy of a program of neuro-motor physical exercises focused to elderly with impairments in physical attributes of agility and dynamic balance. The research consisted in a experimental study with pre- and post-interventions (pretest and posttest) and control group. Sampling was made with 100 elders, with ages varying from 75 to 80 years, in two groups, control group (CG) and experimental group (EG), which were submitted to 40 sessions with 50 minutes, corresponding to a total of thirteen and one half weeks, with a periodicity of three times a week, performing the program of neuro-motor physical exercises; as an assessment strategy, it was used the protocol of balance and agility proposed by Rikli and Jones (2008), called “Foot Up and Go”. After the intervention period, a significant difference was observed between the groups, and experimental group was better, since analysis of variance to F (Post-EG vs Post-CG) = 18,29, showing p=0,02. Tukey′s test was used to diminish doubts about the relationship of significance of the analysis, showing that this significance is related with both comparisons done, and the difference among the averages of 1.30 second is statistically relevant, since Q=6.04 and p=0.01, what demonstrates that performance improvement of the members of experimental group occurred due to the efficacy of the program of neuro-motor exercises, thus proving its importance to physical fitness on elderly evaluated.

Abstract: introduction: many changes that take place with aging have an impact of a functional nature and result, as one of the most important consequences, in disorders in the gait pattern of the elderly. objectives: to evaluate the effectiveness of a sensorial-motor program on the gait pattern of elderly females. materials and methods: fulfilling the exclusion and inclusion criteria, a group of volunteers was formed comprised of 15 elderly females who were submitted to analysis of the marching pattern by videometry, whose images were processed by the software dgeeme 1.0. after that, they were submitted to a sensorial-motor training, by means of a circuit which included eight exercise stations with proprioceptive and balance stimuli. the frequency of training was three weekly sessions with duration of 30 minutes, for two months. then, a new analysis of the gait was carried out, considering the temporal and spatial components. results: in spite of the improvement in the temporal and spatial components of the gait, a statistical significance was verified only for the result observed in the variable of length of step (p = 0.02). conclusion: it was concluded that the sensorial-motor training, even though it is able to improve the balance of the elderly subject, bringing her safety to develop the gait, can not affect this function directly in its biomechanical aspects.

Abstract: based on the modern thought of body observation which concerns the dichotomy body/mind, one could develop the difficulty in observing the man (human being) as a unit in which counts of contributions such as several commands that makes part of it, in an interactive way (biophysic, biophsychic and biosocial). this observation reproduced and carried on in most graduation courses to teachers, is passed on to them and once more the dichotomy is sustained. consequently, schools now a days still hold a traditional model of class, in which the body is ignored in its gestual language, that translates in most of time, what is not verbalized by the student: emotions, difficulties and existential conflicts. this method of teaching is the biggest concern of brazilian educational system, which in national curricular parameters, established main points to humanize and diversifying it. this concern came from the recognition of some communications signs of students from the age of basic school. the students can communicate through a great diversity of channels and currently, they can't express themselves with proficiency only trough verbal language. however, when using other ways to do, some are not understood by their teachers, because sometimes those teachers don't hold some theoretical references or the knowledge to evaluate the conducts and behavior expressed by this language. thus, this research had the main porpose of present some theoretical considerations about non-verbal language, in the context of human communication, such as establishing some mains points to gestual and affective language of students from the age of basic schools, that allows a better comprehension of those students difficulties .this consideration indicated that non-verbal language, which consists on physical appearance, movements and/or other body expressions, play an important role in human communication, in social relationship and in a cognitive process. so, some experiences that happens in any normal

Ensaio: Avalia??o e Políticas Públicas em Educa??o , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-40362009000200008
Abstract: this article aims to evaluate the corporal-movement profile of 20 children, with -down's syndrome ds, between 06 and 12 years of age, resident in the southern region of the state of tocatins, brazil. the purpose of this work is to establish cognitive-motor parameters which are able to found heterogeneous practices in the pedagogic-policy project of the curriculum, in the teaching methodology and also, in the evaluation of these individuals, in agreement with the national curricular guidelines for special education (mec/seesp, 1998), thus favoring the education and social integration of people with such special needs. this aim was achieved with a context evaluation in which the "operational portage" inventory (williams & aiello, 2001) and the protocol of evaluation of motor ability of bruininks - oseretsky (bruininks, 1978) were used. it was concluded that individuals with down's syndrome present a deficit of cognitive-motor ability, which is related the fine motor coordination and also a limited development of language, whether oral or written, resulting in lack of success in school chores. finally, an important aspect had caught attention, that is, although some individuals with down's syndrome have got a lower level of cerebral deficiency or of motor function, they can achieve success in a great variety of tasks, even in the school environment.

Revista Saúde.Com , 2010,
Abstract: The eating habits formation of the individuals with the Down’s syndrome deserves special attention because, besides specific anatomical and physiological alterations, some aspects also interfere in this process. Among them, the parents’behavior is the one that counts most, and it’s essential to establish a healthy diet. Facing this, the objective in this study was to assess the habitual diet in eight overweight adolescents with the Down’s syndrome living in the South Region of Tocantins State. These adolescents are between 10 and 19 years of age. To instrumentalize the referred assessment, the Food Frequency Questionnaire for Adolescents was applied and it was compared with the Adapted Food Pyramid recommendations. It was observed 82% of the adolescents used to eat less than the recommended amount of the vegetables and cereal/bread/tubers/roots; 68% eat less fruits and 87% eat less milk/dairy products groups. It was also detected an exaggeration in the consumption of grains, meat/eggs and sugar/candy groups. It was concluded that the adolescents habitually keep a diet out of the pattern considered healthy. It’s predominantly easy chewing food and high in calories, what may bring risks of getting overweight and even obese. Thus, it’s vital to go through an eating re-education process, in whichthe family has participation, so that changes in the eating habits may be achieved.

Revista Saúde.Com , 2011,
Abstract: The Down's syndrome, presenting a chromosomepathy characterized by the additional presence of a chromosome in the 21st pair, causes a disturbance to the human body cell functions, making people who have this alteration present injure in their organic system and thus, bigger sensitivity to some illnesses. Facing this problem, in this project, in which a method of a context assessment was used, the objective was to develop an assessment about the facial and breathing profile in 4 to 10-year-old children, who have the Down's syndrome and live in Gurupi / TO, considering some important aspects of the context which may lead those children to present breathing problems. It's concluded that those children have a decrease of strength on the facial muscles because of an inherent hypotonicity. This makes it difficult for them to keep an appropriate nose breathing and, consequently, increases the risks of breathing infections, which can lead them to death. Because of this, it's vital to have a physiotherapeutic intervention to have the strength and muscle system fuction back, especially the segments involved in breathing.
