Self-Organizing Cyclolinear Organosilicon Polymers in Bulk and on the Surface of Water

Abstract: yclolinear organocarbosiloxane polymers with varying content and location of (CH 2) n groups in the monomer unit were synthesized by reactions of heterofunctional polycondensation and polyaddition of difunctional organocyclosiloxanes and organocyclocarbosiloxanes. Their bulk properties were studied by differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray structural analysis. It was shown that on introduction of CH 2 groups into the methylcyclohexasiloxane unit, the polymer retains the ability to self-organize with formation of a mesomorphic state in a wide temperature range, while on introduction of (CH 2) 2 fragments in a cyclotetrasiloxane unit or in a bridge connecting two methylcyclotetra(hexa)siloxane units it does not. Comparison of the X-ray data of dihydroxy derivatives of decamethylcyclohexasiloxane and decamethyl-5-carbocyclohexasiloxane with packing of cyclolinear organosilicon polymers in bulk shows that the polymer inherits the layered type of crystalline structure typical for monomers. Langmuir films of cyclolinear polymethylcarbosiloxanes with different design of monomer units were studied as well. It was revealed that all polymers form monomolecular films at the air/water interface, excluding those having longer hydrophobic fragment than hydrophilic ones. The ability to form multilayers depends on the surroundings of Si atom in the bridge between the cycles.
The Research of Risks Influence on Investment Projects Efficiency

Abstract: The article substantiates that under present economic conditions the requirements for the efficiency level of investments have increased. Real investments should be highly effective and actual efficiency has to be as designed to the utmost. According to these facts during the process of feasibility and evaluation of investment projects efficiency, which are the materialization of investments, all possible risks connected with the functioning of designed objects should be taken into consideration. Therefore, the actuality of the paper is to study risks influence on investment projects efficiency and practical methods of risk analysis for the prosperity of the economy of Ukraine.The article describes methods of risk analysis in investment projects, suggests a detailed definition of investment risk, and also highlights the most common mistakes in investment projects evaluation. The author gives real examples of investment projects and demonstrates the method of sensitivity analysis, decision tree and case-study method. The obtained results made it possible to note, that the case-study method gives only one complex evaluation of project efficiency. At the same time it is necessary to bear in mind the diversity of situational uncertainty, which leads to the possibility of applying any of the described methods as an instrument of risk analysis. The examined approaches enable all interested parties to make a detailed and complex analysis of the investment project, to make a more perceived decision about participation in such a project and to evaluate risk.The article deals with issues concerning risk evaluation of investment projects, which under present conditions of financial and economic crisis are a high-priority task.

A Case Study to Estimate Thermal Conductivity of ABS in Cold Climate Chamber  [PDF]

Non steady state thermal conductivity of ABS was estimated using an analytical approach in a Cold Climate Chamber at ?10?C and ?14?C. Two hollow cylinders of ABS of varying thickness were used to estimate the conductivity. The material was porous but the porosity was unknown. This paper is a case study to understand, if it is reasonable to estimate the thermal conductivity using the analytical varying thickness approach.

The Use of Liquid Nitrogen in the Treatment of Patients with Wound Abscess after Tracheostomy

Abstract: The aim of the investigation was to assess the efficiency of cryotherapy application in local treatment of patients with tracheostomy wound abscess.Materials and Methods. To assess the efficiency of liquid nitrogen in the treatment of wound abscess there were studied treatment results of two groups of patients. Complex therapy of the main group of patients with tracheostomy wound abscesses (n=25) included cryoapplications on a suppurative focus using cryoprobe. The patients of the control group (n=25) underwent traditional procedures. All patients received antibacterial and local anti-inflammatory therapy. Conclusion. The use of cryoapplications on a suppurative focus after tracheostomy enables to reduce average time of wound process due to the earliest debridement and wound regeneration. The application of liquid nitrogen in the treatment of tracheostomy wound abscesses results in early wound healing and has a good cosmetic effect.

Abstract: In the article for motor transport influence decrease on the environment it is offered to perfect an autoservice system in two directions: to optimize autoservice enterprises territorial accommodation and to increase an internal efficiency of organization and operation of enterprises. The first way means rational territorial accommodation of autoservice center with taking into account of ecological factors for an even distribution of autoservice centers load on environment. The second way demands creation and intrusion on autoservice centers of an ecological management system with for a decrease by centers of pollutants emissions volumes in environment.
