Salazar Schettino,Paz M.; de Haro Arteaga,Irene; Cabrera Bravo,Margarita;
Medicina (Buenos Aires) , 2005,
Abstract: observations made in the field and in the laboratory on three vectors of trypanosoma cruzi: triatoma barberi, t. pallidipennis and t. dimidiata are here presented. results are compared in relation with their ecotopes, vectorial capacity, biological characteristic, entomological indexes and capture places. in relation with their ecotopos t. barberi has preference for the interior of the human home, in walls, directly in contact with beds; t. pallidipennis, when it is inside the houses, prefers floors and among clothes, although their main ecotope is wild; t. dimidiata has localization in floors, specially under the beds, in the angle between wall and floor; t. barberi and t. dimidiata are attracted by the light. the cycles of life were of 523, 171 and 510 days, respectively for triatoma barberi, t. pallidipennis and t. dimidiata. the vectorial capacity was determined according to the time taken in defecating during or after its sucking blood: t. barberi defecates during its feeding, while t. pallidipennis and t. dimidiata make it from 10 to 20 and of 20 to 30 minutes after starting the process, respectively. the indexes of natural infection were of 56.6 for t.barberi, 29 for t.pallidipennis and 15.6 for t. dimidiata, the metacyclogenics indexes that indicate percentages of metacyclics trypomastigotes in later intestine of vectors was in t. barberi 76.6, t. pallidipennis 15 and t. dimidiata 26, with what it can be concluded that the first species is the best transmitter of t. cruzi in mexico.

Medicina (Buenos Aires) , 2005,
Periodic motions: How their period changes with amplitude of the oscillations and the friction?
H. G. Riveros,E. Cabrera Bravo
Latin-American Journal of Physics Education , 2007,
Abstract: The pendulum is a classical experiment, easy to perform and produces data with very simple equipment. The change in the period with the amplitude appears even with small amplitudes if you have some precision in the period. To measure amplitudes larger than 90° we need to change the cord for a rigid rod. We found that for a cylindrical magnet hanging horizontally in the Earth magnetic field, the movement equation is similar to that of a pendulum. We measured amplitudes and times so we can fit a numerical solution to the equation. The initial amplitude is near to 162° and we found that the change in the period comes mainly from the non-linear terms in the equation, and that the friction (either proportional to the angular velocity or its square) only reduces the amplitude with time. With periods from 9 to 4 seconds, the measurements with a protractor can be made manually for many oscillations. For the umerical calculations Δt needs to be 0.0001 seconds to conserve the energy.
Irene-Alejandra Cabrera-Nossa
Boletín Científico Sapiens Research , 2012,
Abstract: Reviewing the Colombian conflict evolution (1998-2011), it is possible to confirm the armed groups’ relocation on border zones in order to guar-antee their survival. By considering this trend, the main purpose of this article is to discuss the accuracy of Colombia and Brazil strategies to re-spond the negative effects of this shift. In spite of their progress in terms of security border policies, both countries underestimate the strategic value of their shared frontier and the importance of reinforcing their security cooperation. According to several studies about border’s role in national and international conflicts, this situation needs special awareness. In particular, the use of border zones by rebels, on the one hand, allows a prolongation of war, and on the other hand, facilitates the spoilage of diplomatic relations when neighboring states don’t have a common security strategy. In this way, the armed groups’ presence in border areas becomes a challenge in the bilateral agenda, especially when geographical studies bear out the continuity of violent events. Hence, it is imperative to evaluate the suitability of Colombia and Brazil strategies to enhance their security and to facilitate a conflict resolution.
Plesiomonas shigelloides una Vibrionaceae en quien pensar
Laura Bravo,Roberto Cabrera,Margarita Ramírez,Alina Llop
The antigenic structure and antimicrobial susceptibility were studied in 99 strains isolated from patients with acute diarrhea (6 strains from an outbreak of digestive transmission disease in Santiago de Cuba) and a strain isolated from a patient who died from infections neurological syndrome (INS, meningitis). Four new serotypes (093, 994, 095, 096), wich had not been described in the world clasification, were identified from the Cuban isolated strains and were included in the International Serotyping Scheme by the International Reference Center located in Prague, Czeck Republic. For the first time in Cuba, the circulation of serotypes 017.H11, 011: H2, 023. H1a1c, 057: H3 which show cross reaction to Shiguella species was proved. Those strains from the outbreak of digestive disease belonged to serotype 050: H11 and had a thermostable toxin. The first case of infectious neurologic syndrome with Plesionomas shigelloides etiology reported in Cuba was described; the strain corresponded to serotype 050: H11. The worldwide reported pattern of antimicrobial resistance was demostrated.

Domínguez Espinosa,Alejandra del Carmen; Salas Menotti,Irene; Contreras Bravo,Carolina; Procidano,Mary E.;
Revista Latinoamericana de Psicología , 2011,
Abstract: the study aimed to test the psychometric qualities of pss-fa and pss-fr scales (procidano & heller, 1983), and their concurrent validity. the sample consisted of college mexican students ranging from 18 to 31 years of age. in order to determine the concurrent validity, the scales were correlated with other psychological measures theoretically related to the construct of perceived social support, such as perceived stress (pss), optimism (lot-r o), pessimism (lot-r p), attachment styles (rq), life satisfaction (swls), number and social supporters satisfaction (ssq6-n & ssq6-s), positive and negative affect (panas-pa & na), and social desirability (mcsds) as a control variable. finally, extreme (high and low) groups for perceived social support from family and friends were compared in each of the criteria variables and several significant differences were found. both scales, pss-fa & pss-fr, were found to have adequate convergent and divergent validity and discriminant power to measure perceived social support.
