Assessment of Seagoing Ships Longitudinal Strength in the Context of International Rules, Important Factor for Safe Operation  [PDF]
Dumitru Lupascu, Ionel Chirica
World Journal of Engineering and Technology (WJET) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/wjet.2015.34029
Abstract: The paper is focused on the ship hull safety problems related to the longitudinal strength of the ship during design, construction and service in context of International Goal-Based Ship Construction Standards carried out by International Maritime Organization (IMO). The study underscores the importance of ship longitudinal strength for prevention of theirs losses, mentioning the most important measures taken by IMO for improvement of ship safety. In the work, a critical analysis of the methodology of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) for calculation of sectional efforts induced by waves in ship’s hull is described. Finally, a calculation base proposal for improvement the efforts on quasi-static layout of the ship on wave is performed.
Design Solutions for Jack up Platform Retrofitting  [PDF]
Ionel Chirica, Dumitru Lupascu, Elena-Felicia Beznea
World Journal of Engineering and Technology (WJET) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/wjet.2015.33015
Abstract: The paper is focused on the structural problems related to the retrofitting of a ship structure into a maritime self-elevating platform. The study is referred on the design of the global and local strengthening of the platform and legs structures. The joint structure built as the connection between the platform hull and the tubular legs, is designed so that to be acted by the special actuators. The total force provided by the actuators during the lifting operations is necessary to balance the total weight of the platform hull and operating equipment. The work described in the paper shows a methodology for FEM global and local strength calculation of platform structure and legs structure using site-specific parameters recommended by DNV rules, such as water depth, wave and wind loads. Also, the global static and dynamic behavior analysis of the jack up unit is presented. From the case study results it may conclude that the proposed methodology offers economic advantages to the field in which they are employed. In the paper, the platform structural capacity, incorporating yielding and buckling, is the limiting condition for the scenario under investigation.
The Supply Chain, a Strategic Marketing Approach
Ionel Dumitru,?tefan Claudiu C?escu
Amfiteatru Economic , 2013, DOI: 1234567
Abstract: The main objective of this article is to integrate strategic marketing instruments within the supply chain in relationship with the suppliers. In order to integrate the commercial and economic activities at the supply chain level there is a need of developing tight relationships between the customer and the supplier. Thus, it is justified to approach the supply chain from a strategic perspective and the strategic marketing tools are perfectly applicable on the business-to-business market. Our research, has led us to the conclusion that, especially on business to business markets, organizations focus their marketing activities not only on the relationship with their customers, but on the relationship with their suppliers as well. In the supply chain, companies appear as buyers and as clients for the suppliers of goods, financial resources and of work force. Starting from this, we have developed a quantitative marketing research, interviewing 60 organizations from the business-to-business Romanian market, with the purpose of identifying the way in which companies from the B2b market integrate strategic marketing in their supply-chain.

Abstract: The objective of the financial statements is to present the users understandable, relevant, credible and comparable information, which can correctly and accurately show the entity’sfinancial position and the performances. Thanks to the share they hold in the balance sheet, the problem of recognizing and valuing the assets and current liabilities presents animportant interest due to the influence the information presented in the financial statementcan have upon the users’ decision.

Abstract: In the current context, organizations are evaluated not only in terms of product quality. The modern organization is valued beyond its economic performance, quality management and communication policy, and by its contribution to the social life of the community it takes part of. The new social responsibilities that appear for the companies involve the increasement of information requests from both outside and inside for better management of the entity. Social responsibility accounting is a branch of accounting in the context of scientific knowledge that provides answers to social problems, the causes, manifestations and projections in a dynamic environment. This article aims to show what social responsibility is and how it works according to SA 8000:2008, what would be its implications and its main objectives, emphasizes the importance of publishing additional information on corporate social responsibility other than traditional financial situations.

Abstract: Employees are the most important assets of an enterprise and its success or failure depends on their qualifications and performance. Human resources are not properly evaluated because the enterprises consider the wages, actually an investment in the qualification and improvement of the staff as expenditure and and not as an investment in the most important asset of an enterprise the human capital. The current accounting system is not able to provide the actual value of employee capabilities and knowledge. This indirectly affects future investments of a company, as each year the cost on human resource development and recruitment increases. Human resource accounting is a direct part of the social accounting and aims to provide information on the evaluation of one of the most important components of the organization, namely human capital. This article seeks to show the importance of human resources for an enterprise, what human resource accounting is, which would be its implications and what are its main objectives.

Abstract: This study is a result of the personal reflections about the one extremely intricate process, in a period with thorough change-overs: the urbanization. In a certain situation, to detect with mostly obviousness some trends, the study period has been extended at theentire XXth century. The most important purposes of this analysis, presented at the Academic Days of Ia i” (Sept. 2008) has been the followings: the constitution of one database about the dynamics of the urbanization in modern and contemporary Europe; the analysis of the measure were the classical models of the urban dynamics study (rank-size rule, the model of the central places) may be adapted of the recently complicated evolution derived from the change-over of the spatial reports between the urban system components, at everyscale; the obviousness of the various types of the urbanization, including the perspective of the engendered effects:urban displaying, urban congestion, periurbanization etc.

Abstract: Power asymmetry within the international security system can be noticed both at conceptual and practical level. Although it is not a new phenomenon, this asymmetry, which has extended for the past decades, has led to some particular developments that question international security and stability in different ways. States have striven to tackle the consequences of the deepening power asymmetry among them but the success of their endeavors is questionable. This paper analyzes the ways in which power asymmetry propagates within the international security system and its likely consequences for international stability and security in the near future.
