Assessment of Seagoing Ships Longitudinal Strength in the Context of International Rules, Important Factor for Safe Operation  [PDF]
Dumitru Lupascu, Ionel Chirica
World Journal of Engineering and Technology (WJET) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/wjet.2015.34029
Abstract: The paper is focused on the ship hull safety problems related to the longitudinal strength of the ship during design, construction and service in context of International Goal-Based Ship Construction Standards carried out by International Maritime Organization (IMO). The study underscores the importance of ship longitudinal strength for prevention of theirs losses, mentioning the most important measures taken by IMO for improvement of ship safety. In the work, a critical analysis of the methodology of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) for calculation of sectional efforts induced by waves in ship’s hull is described. Finally, a calculation base proposal for improvement the efforts on quasi-static layout of the ship on wave is performed.
Design Solutions for Jack up Platform Retrofitting  [PDF]
Ionel Chirica, Dumitru Lupascu, Elena-Felicia Beznea
World Journal of Engineering and Technology (WJET) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/wjet.2015.33015
Abstract: The paper is focused on the structural problems related to the retrofitting of a ship structure into a maritime self-elevating platform. The study is referred on the design of the global and local strengthening of the platform and legs structures. The joint structure built as the connection between the platform hull and the tubular legs, is designed so that to be acted by the special actuators. The total force provided by the actuators during the lifting operations is necessary to balance the total weight of the platform hull and operating equipment. The work described in the paper shows a methodology for FEM global and local strength calculation of platform structure and legs structure using site-specific parameters recommended by DNV rules, such as water depth, wave and wind loads. Also, the global static and dynamic behavior analysis of the jack up unit is presented. From the case study results it may conclude that the proposed methodology offers economic advantages to the field in which they are employed. In the paper, the platform structural capacity, incorporating yielding and buckling, is the limiting condition for the scenario under investigation.
A Numerical Model for Torsion Analysis of Composite Ship Hulls
Ionel Chirica,Elena-Felicia Beznea
Mathematical Problems in Engineering , 2012, DOI: 10.1155/2012/212346
Abstract: A new methodology based on a macroelement model proposed for torsional behaviour of the ship hull made of composite material is proposed in this paper. A computer program has been developed for the elastic analysis of linear torsion. The results are compared with the FEM-based licensed soft COSMOS/M results and measurements on the scale simplified model of a container ship, made of composite materials.
Relationship Marketing - Best Practice in the Banking Sector
C?t?lina Chirica
Amfiteatru Economic , 2013, DOI: 1234567
Abstract: This paper aims to highlight best practice in relationship marketing because of adjusted companies’ strategies in a turbulent, unstable, and dynamic economic environment. By best practice, we understand specific marketing tools and strategies built upon real needs and heterogeneous consumer preferences, addressed directly in a relevant way, aiming at clients’ long-term retention. We should also take into consideration the highly competitive market, with rapid changes in purchase and consumption behavior, while the ever-increasing degree of technology changes fundamentally not only the speed, but also the information content. Since past years we can talk about consumer behavior analysis based on multiple criteria, including the emotional or moral components, consumers’ expectations, and life style, as understanding such variables is the main pillar of relationship marketing. The main objectives rely upon building long-term relations, client retention, and loyalty. As part of marketing efforts, the communication component has an increasingly important role, approaching niches with tailored messages, inviting clients to open dialogue. Economic changes, extensive use of technology, migration towards online and optimization of communication channels opened the doors for digital era, when relationship marketing and client relationship management (CRM) represent not a merely working premise, but an essential ground. Best practice in relationship marketing proves that this cannot be applied in any way and at any time, as this paper highlights the main components of building and implementing such a system.

Abstract: This study is a result of the personal reflections about the one extremely intricate process, in a period with thorough change-overs: the urbanization. In a certain situation, to detect with mostly obviousness some trends, the study period has been extended at theentire XXth century. The most important purposes of this analysis, presented at the Academic Days of Ia i” (Sept. 2008) has been the followings: the constitution of one database about the dynamics of the urbanization in modern and contemporary Europe; the analysis of the measure were the classical models of the urban dynamics study (rank-size rule, the model of the central places) may be adapted of the recently complicated evolution derived from the change-over of the spatial reports between the urban system components, at everyscale; the obviousness of the various types of the urbanization, including the perspective of the engendered effects:urban displaying, urban congestion, periurbanization etc.

Abstract: Power asymmetry within the international security system can be noticed both at conceptual and practical level. Although it is not a new phenomenon, this asymmetry, which has extended for the past decades, has led to some particular developments that question international security and stability in different ways. States have striven to tackle the consequences of the deepening power asymmetry among them but the success of their endeavors is questionable. This paper analyzes the ways in which power asymmetry propagates within the international security system and its likely consequences for international stability and security in the near future.

Abstract: In the summer of the year 2007, the cereal prices worldwide were at the highest level, and the financial crisis determined their returning to normal parameters. In the present paper we wish to investigate the impact of the worldwide changes upon the European cereal sector and the Romanian cereal sector.
Implications of European Directives in the Assessment of Insurance Companies
Theoretical and Applied Economics , 2011,
Abstract: The objective of this paper is to present a vision in the sphere of the problematic of assets and liabilities’ evaluation that are reflected in the balance sheet of the insurance companies, inside the theory of the contingent claims, and of the marginal theory inside the insurance sphere. Our references take into consideration all the principles and evaluation norms of a company’s liabilities, company operating in the life insurance domain, including the general request introduced by the IFRS. Also, we argument the fact that the making of the new IFRS standards’ frame must take into consideration the accelerated globalization of the trading and the internalization of the financial markets, factors that have made pass onto the first place the necessity of a standardized financial reporting system. Because for so long the evaluating inadequacy of the assets at their fair value and the liabilities at their fair cost has persisted for so long, we underline that we find even in this a vast debate subject between the insurance companies’ representatives and the IASB, especially in the second step of the IFRS4’s implementation in the life insurance contract.
Performance of Financial Control
Theoretical and Applied Economics , 2010,
Abstract: Financial control contributes to the augmentation of efficiency, both in one’s business and the controlled institutions, appealing to its well-known methods and techniques. If properly targeted, these methods can lead to outstanding achievements. The overall purpose of the debate focuses on evincing the means of quantification regarding the efficiency of the control process
Institutional Metamorphoses regarding the Exercise of External Public Audit in Romania
Theoretical and Applied Economics , 2011,
Abstract: This work attempts a synthetic approach of the evolution of institutional organization and the exercise of public financial audit in Romania, emphasizing on historical, as well as on modern elements. Recent changes, based, obviously, on legal regulations, aim at implementing the types of audit specific to the audit supreme institutions and founded on the basis of their own external public audit standards, adopted according to the INTOSAI audit standards, the European guidelines for their application and other standards relevant to the public sector, elaborated by IFAC and accepted by the European Union. The finding of the accounts in order is followed by issuing of a conformity certificate for the audited entity.
