Aspectos socioecon?micos que influenciam no comparecimento ao exame oftalmológico de escolares com altera??es visuais
Abud, Alfredo Borghetto;Ottaiano, José Augusto Alves;
Arquivos Brasileiros de Oftalmologia , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-27492004000500015
Abstract: purpose: to identify socioeconomic aspects influencing the attendance of schoolchildren, who showed visual impairment, at ophthalmologic examination. methods: 237 schoolchildren were referred to examinations. a survey questionnaire was applied to the parents or those responsible who accompanied the schoolchildren during the ophthalmologic appointment, of the national campaign for visual rehabilitation "eye to eye" 2002 in lins (sp) city. the following parameters were analyzed: educational level of the parents or those responsible, family income level, possession of a vehicle, the distance between their homes and the place of the examination and the association with a private medical health plan. the same questionnaire was applied afterwards, by means of a personal house visit, to the parents or those responsible for the absent schoolchildren. results: 163 schoolchildren (68.8%) attended the ophthalmologic examination and answered the questionnaire; 74 students were absent (31.2%) and 72 of them answered the questionnaire later. educational level, family income level, possession of a vehicle and the distance between their homes and the place of the examination did not show significant difference between the students. there was a significant difference (p = 0,017) between the schoolchildren who have a private medical health plan and attended the examination (27.6%) and the absentees (44.4%). conclusions: the fact that the student was protected by a private medical health plan was associated with the fact that he/she did not attend the examination.

Abstract: The Chikungunya virus infection zones have now quickly spread from Africa to parts of Asia, North America and Europe. Originally thought to trigger a disease of only mild symptoms, recently Chikungunya virus caused large-scale fatalities and widespread economic loss that was linked to recent virus genetic mutation and evolution. Due to the paucity of information on Chikungunya immunological progression, we investigated the serum levels of 13 cytokines/chemokines during the acute phase of Chikungunya disease and 6- and 12-month post-infection follow-up from patients of the Italian outbreak. We found that CXCL9/MIG, CCL2/MCP-1, IL-6 and CXCL10/IP-10 were significantly raised in the acute phase compared to follow-up samples. Furthermore, IL-1β, TNF-α, Il-12, IL-10, IFN-γ and IL-5 had low initial acute phase levels that significantly increased at later time points. Analysis of symptom severity showed association with CXCL9/MIG, CXCL10/IP-10 and IgG levels. These data give insight into Chikungunya disease establishment and subsequent convalescence, which is imperative to the treatment and containment of this quickly evolving and frequently re-emerging disease.
Using Rapid Prototyping Data to Enhance a Knowledge-Based Framework for Product Redesign  [PDF]
Stefano FILIPPI, Ilaria CRISTOFOLINI
Intelligent Information Management (IIM) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/iim.2010.21001
Abstract: The particular characteristics of Rapid Prototyping technologies, both in terms of constrains and opportunities, often require the reconfiguration of the product model to obtain the best compliance with the product functionalities and performances. Within this field of research, a knowledge-based tool named Design GuideLines Collaborative Framework (DGLs-CF) was developed to support both the designers defining the product consistently with the manufacturing technologies and the manufacturers defining the building setup consistently with the product requirements. Present work is focused on enhancing the DGLs-CF knowledge base and on updating the DGLs-CF knowledge management by using the information gathered on some RP technologies. The added-value of this research is represented by an improvement in the Redesign/Reconfig- uration Package, the final result of the DGLs-CF adoption. This is a list of actions to be performed on the product model and on the process parameters to avoid the limitations of the technology and to exploit at best its opportunities.
Historic Centers Restoration and Ancient Buildings Energetic Efficiency Improvement  [PDF]
Nicola Santopuoli, Ilaria Pecoraro
Journal of Building Construction and Planning Research (JBCPR) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jbcpr.2014.23019
Abstract: The historical center is a part of the city with specific environmental, architectural and historical values, which emerges from the urban fabric structural continuity. This complex reality requires a comprehensive understanding to determinate the most proper ways to carry out functional transformations and system adaptations, with respect to historical buildings values. Each building must obtain those proper improvements and functional adjustments, also in terms of technology and energetic efficiency. The achievements of a complex interdisciplinary research project on Ceglie Messapica historical center (BR, Italy) are explained. They lead to guidelines for mulation for the historical buildings’ critical conservative restoration.
Constructing Prediction Intervals: A Re-Edition of the Williams-Goodman Method  [PDF]
Ilaria L. Amerise, Agostino Tarsitano
Open Journal of Statistics (OJS) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/ojs.2019.92017
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to develop and validate a procedure for constructing prediction intervals. These forecasts are produced by Box-Jenkins processes with external deterministic regressors and prediction intervals are based on the procedure proposed by Williams-Goodman in 1971. Specifically, the distributions of forecast error at various lead-times are determined using post-sample forecast errors. Fitting a density function to each distribution provides a good alternative to simply observing the errors directly because, if the fitting is satisfactory, the quantiles of the distribution can be estimated and then the interval bounds computed for different time origins. We examine a wide variety of probability densities to search the one that best fit the empirical distributions of forecast errors. The most suitable mathematical form results to be Johnson’s system of density functions. The results obtained with several time series suggest that a Box-Jenkins process combined with the Williams-Goodman procedure based on Johnson’s distributions, provide accurate prediction intervals.
Egisto nelle riscritture novecentesche dell'Orestea: immagini di potere tra politica e psicanalisi

Ricerche di S/Confine , 2010,
Abstract: The essay runs through and analyzes the myth of Egisto, Clitennestra’s lover, in the contemporary Oresteia and Elektra re-writings. The essay wants to give a specific space to this character, whose role is determinant in the revenge against Agamennone. Re-writings examinated here go from the beginning of the XXth C. to present times, from the Hofmannsthal’s Elektra (1903) to Parrella’s Il Verdetto (2007).
ICONE IMPOTENTI. Il dissenso politico e ideologico nell'arte italiana contemporanea, dalla pop art alle ultime generazioni
Ilaria Bignotti
Ricerche di S/Confine , 2010,
Abstract: The research takes on those languages of Italian contemporary art that, on the last forty years, have chosen a critical perspective on the political and socio-economical power. Knowing the impossibility of giving a complete view of the problem, I have decided to face the problem around the existence andthe different ways of an iconography and a language strictly connected with political dissent, pointing them out with a selection of Italian works and artists, considering them in relationship with international languages. It’s been a necessity to re-examine the history of art considering the relationships between ideologies and politics, selecting highlights, to dwell upon three moments: from the end of second World War to the end of the Fifties, following the birth and the rise of the ideology of dissent; from the Sixties to the Eighties, considering the passage from the politics to the media, from the action to the iconography ofthe ideology of dissent turning spectacular; from the Eighties till today: from the dissent to a tragic irony, between representations and demythologized symbologies.
