On the Convex Hulls of Self-Affine Fractals

Abstract: Suppose that the set ${\mathcal{T}}= \{T_1, T_2,...,T_q \} $ of real $n\times n$ matrices has joint spectral radius less than $1$. Then for any digit set $ D= \{d_1, \cdots, d_q\} \subset {\Bbb R}^n$, there exists a unique nonempty compact set $F=F({\mathcal{T}},D)$ satisfying $ F = \bigcup _{j =1}^q T_j(F + d_j)$, which is called a self-affine fractal. We consider an existing criterion for the convex hull of $F$ to be a polytope, which is due to Kirat and Kocyigit. In this note, we strengthen our criterion for the case $T_1=T_2=\cdots =T_q $. More specifically, we give an upper bound for the number of steps needed for deciding whether the convex hull of $F$ is a polytope or not. This improves our earlier result on the topic.

Abstract: Beneficial bacteria, often used as probiotics, play efficient role in providing protection against pathogenic microorganisms in humans. Probiotic bacteria like many Lactobacillus sp. (L. acidophilus, L. casei etc.), Bafidobacterium sp. Streptococcus thermophiles, Bacillus coagulans, etc. are beneficial and nowadays are used as supportive therapeutics. Even Lactobacillus is highlighted for showing the anticancer effects on some human cancer cells (cervical, gastric, colon, breast cancer). Some specific antibiotics like peptide antibiotic, Acidolin; some specific bacteriocins and some metabolites like H2O2, acetic acid, lactic acid produced by Lactobacillus sp. kill or inhibit other microorganisms mainly gram positive and gram negative bacteria, including both enteropathogens and spore formers. Proteins like Enterolisin A, Labyrintho peptin A2, etc. show promising anti-cancer activities. Lactobacillus has effective role in clinical and industrial fields. Clinically it is used to manufacture medicines, some hormones and industrially used for broad fermentations, etc. Studies are going on to use Lactobacillus in more broad ways, by improving strains, increasing specificity, making more effective and to find out some other characteristics to prepare them as more natural therapeutic modality.
Intraocular lens power calculation after phototherapeutic keratectomy: Case report and a new method

Abstract: To report a case of cataract extraction and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation after phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK). The IOL power was calculated using the single-K and the double-K SRK/T formula, as well as the Haigis formula after modifying the post PTK corneal power using methods described for corneal power measurements after myopic excimer laser treatment (photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and LASIK). A new method for IOL power calculation after PTK is introduced.

Some New First-Order All-Pass Realizations Using CCII

Abstract: Some new first-order all-pass filters using a second-generation current conveyor are reported. Two circuits have higher input impedance than reported very recently and use a grounded capacitor. Additionally two more circuits have been reported, one of which has minimum passive and active components and has the facility of single resistance tuning. The other circuit has high input impedance and uses two current conveyors but has one passive component less than the similar circuits reported earlier.

Abstract: Les conflits d’usage renvoient à la confrontation de préférences, individuelles ou collectives, sur l’allocation des espaces et des actifs naturels localisés, non mobiles, à des usages alternatifs voire à des non usages. Ils révèlent des externalités négatives induites par les changements dans l’allocation des espaces à différentes fonctions (agricole, industrielle, de transport, résidentielle, récréative, etc.) ; leur proximité géographique ou symbolique au sein d’un territoire renforce la montée des antagonismes. Les cas des conflits d’environnement, qui marquent l’entrée en scène des associations de protection de l’environnement dans la gestion des usages des territoires, et des conflits entre agriculteurs et néo-ruraux dans le cadre de l’extension des localisations résidentielles périurbaines, sont deux exemples significatifs de l’essor d’externalités négatives liées à la proximité. L’article s’intéresse à ce que la théorie économique laisse dans un angle mort : la dimension juridique des conflits d’usage. Il analyse les conflits d’usage exprimés dans le langage du droit devant les tribunaux judiciaires et, surtout, administratifs, dans trois départements fran ais : l’Isère, la Loire-Atlantique et la Seine-Maritime. La démarche suivie vise au réalisme dans la compréhension des conflits d’usage tels qu’ils sont exprimés et tranchés dans la pratique juridictionnelle et privilégie, à ce titre, une approche empirique, inductive et institutionnelle. L’ambition de l’article est de caractériser la conflictualité dans ces trois départements et à en dégager des enseignements en termes de gestion juridictionnelle des conflits en cherchant à déterminer si les conflits liés à la proximité font l'objet d'une approche "territorialisée" par les tribunaux. Land-use and environmental conflicts reveal the existence of antagonism between individual or collective preferences on space and natural resources allocation to alternative uses. Such conflicts are grounded on various negative external effects which are provoked by the combination of different uses (agricultural, industrial, residential, touristic, etc.) in a proximity pattern. LOW POWER ENCRYPTED MIPS PROCESSOR BASED ON AES ALGORITHM

Abstract: The paper describes the Low power 32-bit encrypted MIPS processor based on AES algorithm and MIPS pipeline architecture. The pipeline stages of MIPS processor are arranged in such a way that pipeline can be clocked at high frequency and clock gating technique is used for reducing power consumption. Encryption blocks of Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) cryptosystem and dependency among pipeline stages are explained in detail with the help of block diagram. In order to reduce the power consumption, especially for portable devices and security application switching activity is used inside pipeline stages. The design has been synthesized at 40nm process technology targeting using Xilinx Virtex-6 device. The encrypted MIPS pipeline processor can work at 210MHz and power consumption is 1.313W.
Performance Evaluation of Low Power MIPS Crypto Processor based on Cryptography Algorithms

Abstract: This paper presents the design and implementation of low power 32-bit encrypted and decrypted MIPS processor for Data Encryption Standard (DES), Triple DES, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) based on MIPS pipeline architecture. The organization of pipeline stages has been done in such a way that pipeline can be clocked at high frequency. Encryption and Decryption blocks of three standard cryptography algorithms on MIPS processor and dependency among themselves are explained in detail with the help of a block diagram. Clock gating technique is used to reduce the power consumption in MIPS crypto processor. This approach results in processor that meets power consumption and performance specification for security applications. Proposed Implementation approach concludes higher system performance while reducing operating power consumption. Testing results shows that the MIPS crypto processor operates successfully at a working frequency of 218MHz and a bandwidth of 664Mbits/s.
Design of High Performance MIPS Cryptography Processor Based on T-DES Algorithm

Abstract: The paper describes the design of high performance MIPS Cryptography processor based on triple data encryption standard. The organization of pipeline stages in such a way that pipeline can be clocked at high frequency. Encryption and Decryption blocks of triple data encryption standard (T-DES) crypto system and dependency among themselves are explained in detail with the help of block diagram. In order to increase the processor functionality and performance, especially for security applications we include three new 32-bit instructions LKLW, LKUW and CRYPT. The design has been synthesized at 40nm process technology targeting using Xilinx Virtex-6 device. The overall MIPS Crypto processor works at 209MHz.
