Dynamical Behavior of Euler-Bernoulli Beam Traversed by Uniform Partially Distributed Moving Masses

Abstract: This study is concerned with dynamical behavior of Euler Bernoulli beam traversed by uniform partially distributed moving masses. The governing partial differential equation was systematically analyzed and the analytical numerical solution for classical boundary condition obtained. The deflection of the Euler- Bernoulli beam is calculated under various specified conditions and the results displayed graphically. It is found that moving force solution is not an upper bound for an accurate solution of the moving mass problem.

Abstract: This study considers a Mathematical model of the dynamical behaviour of Tuberculosis disease in the Upper East region of the Northern part of Ghana. The equilibrium points of the model system are found and their stability is investigated. The model exhibits two equilibria namely, the disease-free and the endemic equilibrium. Using stability theory and computer simulation, it is observed that population determine the infection rate of tuberculosis hence the higher the population density, the greater the risk of instability of the disease free equilibrium.
Dynamical Behaviour of Viscously Damped Rayleigh Beam Traversed by Uniform Partially Distributed Moving Masses

Abstract: An investigation into the dynamic behaviour of Viscously damped Rayleigh beam traversed by a uniform spatially distributed moving masses is carried out. The beam is assumed to be prismatic while the effects of two kinds of pressure are considered, that is the moving load and moving force. The pertinent governing partial differential equations, the boundary and initial conditions were analyzed by a series solution in terms of the normalized deflection curve of the beam and the unknown functions of time. This resulted into a set of coupled ordinary differential equations which are numerically solved by the finite difference scheme with the aid of a Visual Basic 6.0 programme. It was observed that the response amplitude of a Rayleigh beam due to moving mass increased as mass and length of the load increased, whilst the amplitude was found to reduce with increasing time. It was further observed that the response amplitude due to moving force was greater than the response amplitude due to moving mass.
The Epidemiology of Guinea Worm Infection in Tamale District, in the Northern Region of Ghana

Abstract: A study was conducted in seven communities in Tamale to investigate the current pattern of prevalence and intensity of Dracunculiasis (Guinea worm) disease in the northern region of Ghana. The data were obtained from the Parasitic Disease Research Centre (PDRC). The main centre that is responsible for the collection of the monthly data on guinea worm infection. SAS was used to analysis the data and PROC AUTOREG was employed for fitting the model. It was observed that the number of guinea worm infection cases reduces with respect to time, indicating that what Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) are saying will be accomplished that is the guinea worm disease will be completely eradicated.

Abstract: An investigation into the dynamical behaviour of axial force Rayleigh beam traversed by uniform partially distributed moving loads is carried out. The beam is assumed to be Prismatic while the shear deformation, rotatory inertia and damping are taking into consideration. The resulting coupled partial differential equation is solved using finite difference method. Graphs were prepared for the results obtained. It was found that the response amplitude for the moving mass problem is greater than the response amplitude of the moving force problem.
Mathematical Models for the Dynamics of Typhoid Fever in Kassena-Nankana District of Upper East Region of Ghana

Abstract: This study deals with formulation of a Mathematical Model of Typhoid Fever in the Kassena-Nankana District in Upper East Region of Ghana. The equilibrium points of the model system are presented and their stability is investigated. Threshold conditions for the disease free equilibrium are presented. Both numerical and qualitative analyses of the model were analyzed. The results of the analysis show that there exist permanent immunity equilibrium points and were found to be globally asymptotically stable.

Abstract: As a teacher of Mathematics, I am sure many of us feel quite disturbed and worried when the results of the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination are released and we observed that some subjects record as high as a hundred percent success while the results are often "spoilt" by mathematics. Graded 6 and above are usually oases of success in a desert of failure. This study addressed the way of improving the teaching and learning of mathematics in Second Cycle Institutions in Ghana.
On the Control and Eradication Strategies of Mathematical Models of the Tuberculosis in A Community

Abstract: In this study the stability of equilibrium states of a model in an attempt to suggest control and eradication strategies to minimize the number of infectious tuberculosis (TB) cases in a Community. The model exhibits two equilibria namely, the disease-free and the endemic equilibrium. The model analyses show that combination of both treatment and preventive method can eradicate TB cases.
