Vocabulary Learning Strategies For Communication Promotion —On English Vocabulary Learning Related to Listening, Speaking, Writing Capability

Abstract: By analyzing the Chinese-characterized English learning patterns which are so " special" for the learning is alien from the native environment thus it cannot be called "second language acquisition" but merely a "foreign language leaning", this essay advocates for targeting strategies during the most fundamental study of the Chinese English learners: vocabulary study. It suggests, mainly, taking advantage of glossary study, to improve the vocabulary learning efficiency; levelling the vocabulary cognition as three degrees; strengthening case and context study, to make language application possible; making the language output pattern "Chinese - English" just the laguage input pattern; using auditory representation strategy to turn the words you can only read into words you can hear and understand. It also suggests "planning" the glossary in terms of application as well as memorization, for the sake of learning them by resorting to according strategies. Eight Types of Obscure Poetic Images

Abstract: The fundamentally “monologic” poetry seems “resistant” to the readers, to a remarkable extent, in that they contain obscure images inside to help convey ideas. That the image as the signifier can be arbitrary, and that the signified could be infinite are so confusing that the poetry is believed sometimes “unreadable”. By analysing the eight types of the obscurity of the poetic images in Yeats’ works, the essay wishes to help found a constructive way to read and interpret the poems. A Fuzzy Spatial Querying Model for Improving Apartment Web Services

Abstract: An apartment web service is a web site intended to provide online services to the residents. With the availability of global positioning systems and the development of new technologies, the access of geo-spatial information has drawn great attention for information retrieves. This research is focused on developing an online service for an apartment to provide geospatial information. In this paper, a fuzzy spatial querying model under uncertainty is used to improve spatial querying. An inexact inferring with the certainty factor is investigated. An online spatial database for an apartment is implemented by utilizing PHP with MySQL database. Demonstration shows that the system can provide visitors with the amount of significant geo-spatial information about the apartment. Moreover, fuzziness and uncertainty are mainly concerned. Querying examples are provided.
Association of serum levels of lipid and its novel constituents with the different stages of esophageal carcinoma

Abstract: Residents from Feicheng, China aged 40 to 69 years were screened for esophageal lesions in a screening program conducted during the period of January 2008 to December 2006. There were 33 controls with normal esophageal squamous epithelium cells, 37 patients with basal cell hyperplasia, 47 with esophageal squamous cell dysplasia, and 43 with ESCC. All the participants were diagnosed by biopsy and histopathological examination. Adiponectin, oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL), autoantibodies against oxLDL (oxLDL-ab), OxLDL-lgG, and OxLDL-lgM were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Total cholesterol, High-density lipoprotein (HDL), triglyceride, serum albumin, and blood pressure were co-estimated. Analysis of covariance for lipid levels was used to control the influence of covariates.The level of oxLDL-lgM increased gradually along with esophageal carcinoma progression. The oxLDL-lgM levels in the ESCC group were the highest after possible covariates were controlled. Binary logistic regression showed that oxLDL-lgM had a positive correlation with the development of esophageal carcinoma, while oxLDL and oxLDL-ab had a negative correlation with ESSC. No significant association between the levels of oxLDL-lgG and adiponectin and the different stages of ESSC was observed.The present study shows that the decreased oxLDL and oxLDL-ab and the elevated oxLDL-lgM serum levels may relate to the development and progression of ESSC.Conflicting data have been reported on the association between low serum cholesterol levels and the risk for cancer mortality. Some observational studies show that low serum cholesterol is associated with an increased risk of cancer mortality [1-4], but some failed to establish a connection [5-8].A meta-analysis of 18 cohort studies showed a significantly increased risk of total cancer death in men (but not in women) with total cholesterol concentrations less than 160 mg/dL(4.15 mmol/L) compared with those with levels at 160-1
The First Passage Time and the Dividend Value Function for One-Dimensional Diffusion Processes between Two Reflecting Barriers

Abstract: We consider the general one-dimensional time-homogeneous regular diffusion process between two reflecting barriers. An approach based on the It? formula with corresponding boundary conditions allows us to derive the differential equations with boundary conditions for the Laplace transform of the first passage time and the value function. As examples, the explicit solutions of them for several popular diffusions are obtained. In addition, some applications to risk theory are considered. 1. Introduction and the Model Diffusion processes with one or two barriers appear in many applications in economics, finance, queueing, mathematical biology, and electrical engineering. Among queueing system applications, reflected Ornstein-Uhlenbeck and reflected affine processes have been studied as approximations of queueing systems with reneging or balking [1, 2]. Motivated by Ward and Glynn’s one-sided problem, Bo et al. [3] considered a reflected Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process with two-sided barriers. In this paper, we consider the expectations of some random variables involving the first passage time and local times for the general one-dimensional diffusion processes between two reflecting barriers. Let be a one-dimensional time-homogeneous reflected diffusion process with barriers and , which is defined by the following stochastic differential equation: where is a Brownian motion in , and are the regulators of point and , respectively. Application of the Chaotic Ergodicity of Standard Map in Image Encryption and Watermarking

Abstract: Thanks to the exceptionally good properties in chaotic systems, such as sensitivity to initial conditions and control parameters, pseudo-randomness and ergodicity, chaos-based image encryption algorithms have been widely studied and developed in recent years. Standard map is chaotic so that it can be employed to shuffle the positions of image pixels to get a totally visual difference from the original images. This paper proposes two novel schemes to shuffle digital images. Different from the conventional schemes based on Standard map, we disorder the pixel positions according to the orbits of the Standard map. The proposed shuffling schemes don’t need to discretize the Standard map and own more cipher leys compared with the conventional shuffling scheme based on the discretized Standard map. The shuffling schemes are applied to encrypt image and disorder the host image in watermarking scheme to enhance the robustness against attacks. Experimental results show that the proposed encryption scheme yields good secure effects. The watermarked images are robust against attacks as well.
A Comparative Study on the Adsorption and Desorption of Nitrogen and Phosphorus by Three Matrixes of Eco-River Channel

Abstract: Eco-river channel building is an effective remediation technology for water body. Selecting appropriate matrix material to build eco-river channel can improve its purification capacity on the pollutants. In this paper, we conducted a comparative study on the adsorption capacity of gravel, sand and zeolite on nitrogen and phosphorus and made an initial analysis on its adsorption mechanism. The results show that, Freundlich isotherm equation can better describe the adsorption properties of those three materials, shown as follows: zeolite>gravel> sand. Thus, we should select gravel or zeolite with greater adsorption ability as matrix material to build eco-river channel, for it will not cause secondary pollution for water environment.

Production of Recombinant Human DNA Polymerase Delta in a Bombyx mori Bioreactor

Abstract: Eukaryotic DNA polymerase δ (pol δ) plays a crucial role in chromosomal DNA replication and various DNA repair processes. It is thought to consist of p125, p66 (p68), p50 and p12 subunits. However, rigorous isolation of mammalian pol δ from natural sources has usually yielded two-subunit preparations containing only p125 and p50 polypeptides. While recombinant pol δ isolated from infected insect cells have some problems of consistency in the quality of the preparations, and the yields are much lower. To address these deficiencies, we have constructed recombinant BmNPV baculoviruses using MultiBac system. This method makes the generation of recombinant forms of pol δ containing mutations in any one of the subunits or combinations thereof extremely facile. From about 350 infected larvae, we obtained as much as 4 mg of pol δ four-subunit complex. Highly purified enzyme behaved like the one of native form by rigorous characterization and comparison of its activities on poly(dA)/oligo(dT) template-primer and singly primed M13 DNA, and its homogeneity on FPLC gel filtration. In vitro base excision repair (BER) assays showed that pol δ plays a significant role in uracil-intiated BER and is more likely to mediate LP BER, while the trimer lacking p12 is more likely to mediate SN BER. It seems likely that loss of p12 modulates the rate of SN BER and LP BER during the repair process. Thus, this work provides a simple, fast, reliable and economic way for the large-scale production of human DNA polymerase δ with a high activity and purity, setting up a new platform for our further research on the biochemical properties of pol δ, its regulation and the integration of its functions, and how alterations in pol δ function could contribute to the etiology of human cancer or other diseases that can result from loss of genomic stability.
P50, the Small Subunit of DNA Polymerase Delta, Is Required for Mediation of the Interaction of Polymerase Delta Subassemblies with PCNA

Abstract: Mammalian DNA polymerase δ (pol δ), a four-subunit enzyme, plays a crucial and versatile role in DNA replication and various DNA repair processes. Its function as a chromosomal DNA polymerase is dependent on the association with proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) which functions as a molecular sliding clamp. All four of the pol δ subunits (p125, p50, p68, and p12) have been reported to bind to PCNA. However, the identity of the subunit of pol δ that directly interacts with PCNA and is therefore primarily responsible for the processivity of the enzyme still remains controversial. Previous model for the network of protein-protein interactions of the pol δ-PCNA complex showed that pol δ might be able to interact with a single molecule of PCNA homotrimer through its three subunits, p125, p68, and p12 in which the p50 was not included in. Here, we have confirmed that the small subunit p50 of human pol δ truthfully interacts with PCNA by the use of far-Western analysis, quantitative ELISA assay, and subcellular co-localization. P50 is required for mediation of the interaction between pol δ subassemblies and PCNA homotrimer. Thus, pol δ interacts with PCNA via its four subunits.
