Business Cycle, Banking Market Structure and Capital Buffer  [PDF]

Abstract: Based on the panel data of 40 Chinese commercial banks from 2004 to 2014, this paper tests empirically the relationship among business cycle, banking market structure and capital buffer using the method of GMM. The results show that in China: capital buffers fluctuate over the business cycles countercyclicality, and market concentration shows a negative relationship with the capital buffers. The decrease of market concentration enforces the countercyclical behavior of capital buffers.
One-pot synthesis of magnetic, macro/mesoporous bioactive glasses for bone tissue engineering

Abstract: Magnetic and macro/mesoporous bioactive glasses were synthesized by a one-pot method via a handy salt leaching technique. It was identified to be an effective and simple synthetic strategy. The non-ionic triblock copolymer, poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(propylene glycol)-block-poly(ethylene glycol) (P123), was used as the structure directing agent for mesoporous structure but also as the reductant to reduce the iron source into magnetic iron oxide. The prepared materials exhibited excellent super-paramagnetic property with interconnected macroporous (200–300 μm) and mesoporous (3.4 nm) structure. Furthermore, their outstanding drug storage/release properties and rapid (5) induction of hydroxyapatite growth ability were investigated after immersing in simulated body fluid solution at 37 °C. Notably, the biocompatibility assessment confirmed that the materials obtained presented good biocompatibility and enhanced adherence of HeLa cells. Herein, the novel materials are expected to have potential application for bone tissue engineering.

We also give some conditions such that the extended COM-Poisson distribution is infinitely divisible, hence some subclass of extended COM-Poisson distributions are discrete compound Poisson distribution.

Abstract: The scavenging ability of sufficient divalent metal ions is pivotal for pathogenic bacteria to survive in the host. ATP-binding cassette (ABC)-type metal transporters provide a considerable amount of different transition metals for bacterial growth. TroA is a substrate binding protein for uptake of multiple metal ions. However, the function and structure of the TroA homologue from the epidemic Streptococcus suis isolates (SsTroA) have not been characterized.
The seroepidemiology of Immunoglobulin G antibodies against pertussis toxin in China: a cross sectional study

Abstract: Blood samples were obtained from 1313 healthy individuals aged 0 to 95?years in Guangdong province of China throughout September 2010. Serum IgG antibodies against PT were determined by commercial ELISA kits. Subjects with concentration of anti-PT IgG higher than 30?IU/mL were indicated to have recent Bordetella pertussis infection, if they have not received a booster dose of pertussis vaccine within one year.Of the 1313 study subjects, 117 (8.91%) were found to have anti-PT antibodies higher than 30?IU/mL. The estimated incidence of recent infection was thus 9395 per 100,000 for individuals older than 7?years. Peaks of the estimated incidence rate of recent infection were found to be 11561 per 100,000 in age group of 41–50?years and 11428 per 100,000 in the group aged 13–19?years.Our study indicated that B.pertussis infections are considerablely common, particularly in adolescents and adults in China. The study also stresses the importance of laboratory diagnosis for pertussis and employment of booster dose of pertussis vaccine in adolescents and adults in this country.
Overexpression of Arginine Transporter CAT-1 Is Associated with Accumulation of L-Arginine and Cell Growth in Human Colorectal Cancer Tissue

Abstract: We previously showed that L-arginine (Arg) accumulates in colorectal cancer tissues. The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism by which Arg accumulates and determine its biological significance. The concentration of Arg and Citrulline (Cit) in sera and tumor tissues from colorectal cancer (CRC) patients was analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The expression of Arg transporters was analyzed by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and immunohistochemical analysis of tissue microarray. We also transfected the colon cancer cell line HCT-116 with siRNA specific for the Arg transporter CAT-1 and measured the induction of apoptosis by flow cytometry and cell proliferation by MTT assay. Consistent with our previous results, serum Arg and Cit concentrations in colorectal cancer patients were significantly lower than those in normal volunteers, while Arg and Cit concentrations in colorectal cancer tissues were significantly higher than in matched adjacent normal colon tissues. Quantitative RT-PCR showed that the CAT-1 gene was highly overexpressed in 70.5% of colorectal cancer tissue samples relative to adjacent normal colon tissues in all 122 patients with colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemical analysis of tissue microarray confirmed that the expression of CAT-1 was higher in all 25 colorectal cancer tissues tested. CAT-1 siRNA significantly induced apoptosis of HCT-116 cells and subsequently inhibited cell growth by 20–50%. Our findings indicate that accumulation of L-Arg and Cit and cell growth in colorectal cancer tissues is associated with over-expression of the Arg transporter gene CAT-1. Our results may be useful for the development of molecular diagnostic tools and targeted therapy for colorectal cancer.
Geochemistry and Its Tectonic Implictions of Metamorphic Rocks of Jiageda Formation in Moerdaoga Area, Inner Mongolia

Abstract: 莫尔道嘎地处额尔古纳地块中北段,该区发育一套中低级变质的佳疙瘩组变质岩,如千枚岩、云母片岩和变质砂岩;但是目前其原岩类型、物质来源以及沉积环境尚不明确.基于全岩主微量元素测试和LA-ICP-MS U-Pb定年,结果表明千枚岩类和云母片岩类总体富Al和K,变质砂岩类总体富Si.岩石轻稀土明显富集,具负铕异常特征,高场强元素相对富集,Sr强烈亏损,Nb、Ta、P、Ti相对亏损.原岩性质及构造环境分析表明,原岩类型主要是杂砂岩和粘土岩,物源以长英质成分为主,并混有少量古老沉积物.它们形成于活动大陆边缘,并存在较多大陆岛弧性质物质,成熟度不高,属于近源沉积.岩石样品中的碎屑锆石多为岩浆成因,且显示了较大的年龄变化,主要集中在新元古代(1.0~0.8Ga)和古元古代(2.0~1.8Ga),说明佳疙瘩组的沉积物源时代主要为新元古代和古元古代.
The Moerdaoga area is situated in the centralnorthern Erguna block, where a set of low-medium grade metamorphic rocks of Jiageda Formation develops, such as phyllites, mica schists and metamorphic sandstones. However, the origin, source and sedimentary environment of the protolith are not clear yet. The results of the major and trace elements analysis and LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating in this study show that phyllite and mica schists are enriched in Al and K and metamorphic sandstones are enriched in Si. These three groups exhibit similarity in trace element geochemistry, with strong enrichment in light REEs and negative Eu anomalies. The primitive mantle normalized trace element pattern shows strong depletion in Sr. Furthermore, Nb, Ta, P, Ti are relatively depleted, and most high field strength elements are enriched. The protoliths of the studied samples are mainly sandy sedimentary rocks with a small amount of muddy sedimentary rocks. The sediments show low maturity with moderate chemical weathering. The uppercrust felsic sources with possible old sediment component make a contribution to their provenance. The tectonic discrimination diagrams show that the protoliths were deposited in an active continental margin setting and had a large number of clastic rocks deposited in continental island arc setting. Most detrital zircons are of magmatic origin. The detrital zircon ages show great variations, yet mainly concentrated in Neoproterozoic (1.0-0.8Ga) and Paleoproterozoic (2.0-1.8Ga), which suggests that they provided the main sedimentary materials

Abstract: In this study, a single beam model has been developed to analyze the thermal vibration of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (SWCNT). The nonlocal elasticity takes into account the effect of small size into the formulation and the boundary condition. With exact solution of the dynamic governing equations, the thermal-vibrational characteristics of a cantilever SWCNT are obtained. Influence of nonlocal small scale effects, temperature change and vibration modes of the CNT on the frequency are investigated. The present study shows that the additional boundary conditions from small scale do not change natural frequencies at different temperature change. Thus for simplicity, one can apply the local boundary condition to replace the small scale boundary condition.
On Connected m-HPK -Residual Graphs

Abstract: We define m-HPK -residual graphs in which HPK is a hyperplane complete graph. We extend P. Erd?s, F. Harary, and M. Klawe's definition of plane complete residual graph to hyperplane and obtain the hyperplane complete residual graph. Further, we obtain the minimum order of HPK -residual graphs and m-HPK -residual graphs. In addition, we obtain a unique minimal HPK -residual graphs and a unique minimal m-HPK -residual graphs. 1. Introduction A graph is said to be -residual graph [1], if for every vertex in , the graph obtained from by removing the closed neighborhood of is isomorphic [2–6] to . We inductively define a multiply -residual graph by saying that is -residual graph, if the removal of the closed neighborhood of any vertex of results in an -residual graph, where of course a -residual graph is simply said to be -residual graph. It is natural to ask what is the minimum number of vertices that an -residual graph must contain? It is easy to prove that this number is and that the only -residual graph with this number of vertex is . In [1], Erd?s et al. show that a connected -residual graph must have at least points, if . Furthermore, the Cartesian product is the only such graph with points for . They complete the result by determining all connected -residual graphs of minimal order for . In [1], the following conjectures were stated. Conjecture 1 (see [1]). If , then every connected -residual graph has at least vertices. Conjecture 2 (see [1]). For large, there is a unique smallest connected -residual graph. Theorem 3 (see [1]). (1) If is an -residual graph, then for any vertex in G, the degree . In this paper, we will study the important properties of hyperplane complete graph in relain to the minimum order of hyperplane complete graph and the minimum graph of hyperplane complete graph. We will investigate Erd?s, Harary, and Klawe’s residual graph and obtain the minimum order of -residual graphs and - -residual graphs.
