An Improved Kernel K-Mean Cluster Method and Its Application in Fault Diagnosis of Roller Bearing  [PDF]

For the kernel K-mean cluster method is run in an implicit feature space, the initial and iterative cluster centers cannot be defined explicitly. Against the deficiency of the initial cluster centers selected in the original space discretionarily in the existing methods, this paper proposes a new method for ensuring the clustering center that virtual clustering centers are defined in the feature space by the original classification as the initial cluster centers and the iteration clustering centers are ensured by the further virtual classification. The improved method is used for fault diagnosis of roller bearing that achieves a good cluster and diagnosis result, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Fault Diagnosis of Rotating Machinery Based on Multisensor Information Fusion Using SVM and Time-Domain Features

Abstract: Multisensor information fusion, when applied to fault diagnosis, the time-space scope, and the quantity of information are expanded compared to what could be acquired by a single sensor, so the diagnostic object can be described more comprehensively. This paper presents a methodology of fault diagnosis in rotating machinery using multisensor information fusion that all the features are calculated using vibration data in time domain to constitute fusional vector and the support vector machine (SVM) is used for classification. The effectiveness of the presented methodology is tested by three case studies: diagnostic of faulty gear, rolling bearing, and identification of rotor crack. For each case study, the sensibilities of the features are analyzed. The results indicate that the peak factor is the most sensitive feature in the twelve time-domain features for identifying gear defect, and the mean, amplitude square, root mean square, root amplitude, and standard deviation are all sensitive for identifying gear, rolling bearing, and rotor crack defect comparatively. 1. Introduction Typical rotating machinery systems such as water turbine, steam turbine, wind turbine, and rotary kiln are critical core equipment support of the important industries of the national economy [1, 2]. The safety, reliability, efficiency, and performance of rotating machinery are major concerns in industry, so, the task of condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of rotating machinery is significant [3]. The common mechanical defects of rotating machinery are divided into three categories: rotor body defects, such as unbalance, misalignment, rubbing, and rotor crack; rotor support-bearing defects, such as inner race, outer race or ball defect of rolling bearing, and oil whirl or oil whip of sliding bearing; transmission gear defects, such as chipped tooth defect or missing tooth defect. In-process monitoring and diagnostics of rotating machinery require reasoning about defect and process states from sensor readings. Often the relationship between the sensor readings and the process states is complex and nondeterministic. For a complex system, a single sensor is incapable of collecting enough data for accurate condition monitoring and fault diagnosis. Multiple sensors are needed in order to do a better job. When multiple sensors are used, data collected from different sensors may contain different partial information about the same machine condition. Spatial distribution and speciation of selenium in alkaline soils and agricultural products of Lanzhou

Abstract: To know the spatial distribution of soil total Se and Se speciation in agricultural products, totally 473 Lanzhou soils and 122 agricultural products were sampled and analyzed. The results showed that the average total Se concentration of the topsoil in Lanzhou was (0.179±0.066) mg/kg (n=473), which ranked in middle level of China. Soil pH value was 8.39±0.26. Soil Se varied significantly among sampling sites, and the highest averaged soil Se was found in Yuzhong Area. The bioavailable Se of soils ranged from 4.63% to15.8%, averagely 8.27% of the total Se. A significantly positive correlation between bioavilable Se and toal Se in soils was observed. For the agricultural products, the total Se in rose (Rosa rugosa), Chinese wolfberry (Lycium barbarum), broccoli (Brassica oleracea var.italica) and celery (Apium graveolens) exceeded 0.015 mg/kg (a standard value for Se-enriched products in China). The organic Se covered averagely 73.4% of the total Se in these agricultural products. Generally, the areas with higher soil Se in Lanzhou could grow higher Se products. Because of alkaline properties of Lanzhou soil, it has a significant advantage in developing Se biofortification ?agricultural products.

Abstract: The basic mathematic model and algorithm of independent component analysis and the apply of independent component analysis in noisy mixed images was discussed, a method was proposed of combining Wiener filtering de-noising and independent component analysis. The results show that this method can reduce the affect of noise, accordingly renew the original image.
Usage of blind source separation in single channel speech enhancement algorithm

Abstract: A new single channel speech enhancement algorithm was put forward. A pseudo noise source was used as the input of the multiple adaptive decorrelation (MAD) algorithm to get an improved speech signal. Moreover, Daubechies wavelet was adapted to transform the signal into wavelet domain. Proper threshold function was used to select wavelet coefficients, and then the signal into time domain was synthesized. Following the scheme provided above, we can get the speech signal with higher SNR and intelligibility.

Abstract: A series of novel 2-phenylaminopyrimidine (PAP) derivatives structurally related to STI-571 were designed and synthesized. The abilities of these compounds to inhibit proliferation were tested in human chronic myeloid leukemia K562 cells. (E)-3-(2-bromophenyl)-N-[4-methyl-3-(4-pyridin-3-yl-pyrimidin-2-ylamino)phenyl]acrylamide(12d) was the most effective cell growth inhibitor and was 3-fold more potent than STI-571.

Abstract: The rapid economic development and motorization in the last three decades in Beijing has resulted in the deterioration of Beijing’s air quality. Since 1998, the Beijing municipal government has made a great effort to improve Beijing’s air quality, resulting in significant progress in reducing air pollution in Beijing. However, the air quality is still below the international health standard, especially the particular matter, PM10. This could be a challenge to the Government’s promise of clean air during the 2008 Olympics. The objective of this paper is to evaluate, using cost/benefit approach, the measures that Beijing has taken to achieve the goal of a Green Olympics. This paper can have important implications for designing environmental strategies during China’s economic transition.
Fabrication of Chitosan/Silk Fibroin Composite Nanofibers for Wound-dressing Applications

Abstract: Chitosan, a naturally occurring polysaccharide with abundant resources, has been extensively exploited for various biomedical applications, typically as wound dressings owing to its unique biocompatibility, good biodegradability and excellent antibacterial properties. In this work, composite nanofibrous membranes of chitosan (CS) and silk fibroin?(SF) were successfully fabricated by electrospinning. The morphology of electrospun blend nanofibers was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the fiber diameters decreased with the increasing percentage of chitosan. Further, the mechanical test illustrated that the addition of silk fibroin enhanced the mechanical properties of CS/SF nanofibers. The antibacterial activities against Escherichia coli (Gram negative) and Staphylococcus aureus (Gram positive) were evaluated by the turbidity measurement method; and results suggest that the antibacterial effect of composite nanofibers varied on the type of bacteria. Furthermore, the biocompatibility of murine fibroblast on as-prepared nanofibrous membranes was investigated by hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and MTT assays in vitro, and the membranes were found to promote the cell attachment and proliferation. These results suggest that as-prepared chitosan/silk fibroin (CS/SF) composite nanofibrous membranes could be a promising candidate for wound healing applications.

Abstract: The title complex, [Cd(C6H2N2O4)(H2O)3]n, is a new monoclinic polymorph. The orthorhombic form has previously been reported [Ma et al. (2006). Acta Cryst. E62, m2528–m2529]. The Cd—N and Cd—O bond lengths range from 2.265 (3) to 2.333 (3) ; a weak Cd—O interaction is also present, the interatomic distance being 2.658 (4) . The CdII ions, which have a distorted pentagonal-bipyramidal geometry, are bridged by pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylato ligands, forming a zigzag chain structure. The chains are connected by O—H...O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional framework.
The Effects of Merger and Acquisition Announcements on the Security Prices of Bidding Firms and Target Firms in Asia

Abstract: With the rise of the Asian financial crisis in 1997 and the smash of IT bubbles in 2000, there has been an increase in the number of corporate takeovers and mergers. In light of these events, we investigate the effects of acquisition announcements on the pricing behavior of the Asian bidding and target firms using the data of mergers or acquisitions announcements from the Bloomberg Database and Reuters Business Database fpr Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea and Japan over the period from 1 January 2000 to 31 December 2007. Our result indicates that information concerning a forthcoming corporate takeover is considered good news for the shareholders of bidding firms but not regarded as good news for the shareholders of the target firms. In addition, we confirm the hypothesis that the abnormal return for the shareholders of bidding firms during the post-announcement period depends on the type of acquisition.
