Geochronological, Sedimentary, Structural, and Metallogenic Characteristics of Southeast China during the Mesozoic: A General Review  [PDF]

Abstract: The tectonic evolution of Southeast China during Late Mesozoic is a prominent topic. Numerous tectonic models on Late Mesozoic evolution ofSoutheast Chinahave beenpublished in the past 50 years. We synthesized many up-to-date and precise zircon U-Pb ages, sedimentary strata, and regional structures and discussed the oxygen fugacity of magmas and related ore deposits. We also analyzed the most current tectonic models published by some scholars. A multistage tectonic stress evolution history during Late Mesozoic was constructed, which included the following stages: 1) Early-Middle Jurassic (196 - 175 Ma) extension, in which many bimodal volcanics formed; 2) Middle-Late Jurassic (165 - 140 Ma) compression, which generated largescale gneissic granites, garnet-bearing granites, stratigraphic hiatus, and nappe structures; 3) Early Cretaceous (140 ± 5 - 120 Ma) extension, which formed weakly deformed or undeformed granites, alkali granites, metamorphic core complexes, graben basins, and basic dike swarms; 4) Early Cretaceous (120 - 110 Ma) compression, which generated nappe structures, volcanic hiatuses, and garnet-bearing granites; and 5) Early-Late Cretaceous (110 - 80 Ma) extension, which generated largescale bimodal volcanics, basic dike swarms, alkali granites, and graben basins. The Late Mesozoic tectonic evolution ofSoutheast Chinamay be attributed to the drifting history of the Paleo-Pacific plate. The drifting direction of the Paleo-Pacific plate has changed several times since 140 Ma, which led to major changes in the tectonicphenomena from Jurassic to Cretaceous and to the formation of Late Mesozoic mineral deposits.

Abstract: The Southern Sichuan Economic Zone is one of the earliest explored districts in Sichuan Province and has gradually become a new polar of economic growth. There are abundant tourism resources that ensure a strong momentum of economic development for the tourism industry; however, several problems still exist and await urgent solution. The proposed strategy of tourism industry development will contribute to moving the obstacles that hinders the development of tourism industry and achieving the transformation, upgrading and frog-leaping development of tourism industry in the Southern Sichuan Economic Zone.

Abstract:
Yibin in Sichuan was hailed as the capital of Chinese Liquor. Liquor industry is one of the pillar industries in Yibin. Ten-mile Liquor City, the unique industry tourism garden in the Southern Sichuan, is a remarkable window for propagating Wuliangye liquor culture. However, flaws widely exist in the English version of the public signs, such as lack of translation, grammar mistakes, spelling mistakes, disagreement in translation, semantic fault, wordiness, etc., which not only brought inconvenience for foreign tourists but also damaged both the images of the enterprise and the city. This paper summarized flaws in the translation of public signs from the Wuliangye Ten-mile Liquor City and proposed countermeasures to improve the quality of the translation of public signs.
Research on the Genesis and Development of Danxia Landform in the South Sichuan  [PDF]

Abstract: The South Sichuan is one of the areas in China famous for Danxia Landform. Danxia Landform in the South Sichuan is characterized by wide distribution and square shaped hills. However, there is no systematic research on the genesis of those Danxia Landforms at present. Based on the study of spatial distribution and the genesis of the Danxia Landforms in the South Sichuan, we discovered that the lithostratigraphy, regional tectonic, crustal uplift and external forces contribute together to the formation of the Danxia Landform. On the basis of learning the development experiences from famous scenic spots and the updated national policies and regulations, proposals were made to boost the development of Danxia Landform resources in the South Sichuan by excavating its historic, cultural, natural and scientific connotation in the form of educational tourism.

Abstract:

In this study, volatile compounds present in Toona sinensis (A. Juss.) Roem (TS) were investigated and their characteristic aromatic components were identified using Headspace Solid-phase Microextraction (HS-SPME) followed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and Gas Chromatography-Olfactometry (GC-O). The optimum conditions for extracting the volatiles from TS were achieved with the experimental parameters including the use of a 65 μm polydimethylsiloxane/divinyl benzene (PDMS/DVB) fibre, an extraction temperature of 40 and an extraction time of 30 min. Under these conditions, 56 volatile compounds were separated and 53 were identified by GC-MS. Among them, 21 sulfide compounds (42.146%) and 27 terpenes55.984%) were found to be the major components. The sample was analyzed by GC-O and 26 elutes were sniffed and their sensory descriptions evaluated by an odor panelists. Analysis of the data indicated, two compounds cis and trans isomers of 2-Mercapto-3,4-dimethyl-2,3-dihydrothiophene were major contributors to the characteristic aroma of TS.

Numerical Simulation of Water Jet Flow Using Diffusion Flux Mixture Model

Abstract: A multidimensional diffusion flux mixture model was developed to simulate water jet two-phase flows. Through the modification of the gravity using the gradients of the mixture velocity, the centrifugal force on the water droplets was able to be considered. The slip velocities between the continuous phase (gas) and the dispersed phase (water droplets) were able to be calculated through multidimensional diffusion flux velocities based on the modified multidimensional drift flux model. Through the numerical simulations, comparing with the experiments and the simulations of traditional algebraic slip mixture model on the water mist spray, the model was validated. 1. Introduction Liquid spray systems are widely used in many chemical, petrochemical, and biochemical industries, such as absorption, oxidation, hydrogenation, coal liquefaction, and aerobic fermentation. The operation of these systems is preferred because of the simple construction, ease of maintenance, and low operating costs. When the spray is injected from nozzle, it causes a turbulent stream to enable an optimum phase exchange. It is built in numerous forms of construction. The mixing is done by the liquid droplets and it requires less energy than mechanical stirring. A good understanding of the liquid droplet dynamics of the spray will help the engineers to design the high efficient facilities under optimized operating parameters. Although the operation of spray system is simple, due to the complexity of the two-phase turbulent flow, the actual physical flow phenomena are still lacking complete understanding of the fluid dynamics [1]. Many experimental facilities and methods were introduced to study the multiphase flows in spray systems. Ruck and Makiola [2] used a laser Doppler anemometer (LDA) to study the gas-oil droplet passing over a backward facing step. Ferrand et al. [3] used a phase Doppler and laser induced fluorescence technique to study the gas-droplet turbulent velocity and two-phase interaction through a jet with partly responsive droplets. Esposito et al. [4] used a monochrome charge-coupled device CCD camera to study the growth of the droplets. The experimental methods can provide very useful information about the liquid droplets at certain measurement points, but it is difficult for them to show the details of the flow fields and parameters inside the spray. Following the development of computer technology, it is already allowed to use the numerical method to do the researches in the recent decades [5]. Abstract: In order to better understand and elucidate the major determinants of red and white muscle phenotypic properties, the global gene expression profiling was performed in white (longissimus doris) and red (soleus) skeletal muscle of Chinese Meishan pigs using the Affymetrix Porcine Genechip. 550 transcripts at least 1.5-fold difference were identified at p < 0.05 level, with 323 showing increased expression and 227 decreased expression in red muscle. Quantitative real-time PCR validated the differential expression of eleven genes (α-Actin, ART3, GATA-6, HMOX1, HSP, MYBPH, OCA2, SLC12A4, TGFB1, TGFB3 and TNX). Twenty eight signaling pathways including ECM-receptor interaction, focal adhesion, TGF-beta signaling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway, Wnt signaling pathway, mTOR signaling pathway, insulin signaling pathway and cell cycle, were identified using KEGG pathway database. Our findings demonstrate previously unrecognized changes in gene transcription between red and white muscle, and some potential cascades identified in the study merit further investigation.

Abstract:

The reception of Don Quixote in China started in the early 20th century, with its media Japanese literature and Russian literature and its initiating point Chinese social reforms as well as intellectuals’ self-reflections on their role. Zhou Zuoren was the very first to make a scientific criticism of the novel Don Quixote while Lu Xun took the lead in exploring the essence of Don Quixote’s spirit, defining it as mixing realism with idealism, which would have a negative impact on its readers. Lu Xun was thus inspired to create a character named AQ, eternally charming readers. Feiming, as an explorer of the truth of humanity, orientalized Don Quixote’s spirit in the form of parody. Don Quixote has become a universal symbol of the human spirit, has aroused the attention of Chinese intellectuals, and has even directly “engaged in” the controversies in the Chinese literary world. By the end of 20th century, translations and research on Don Quixote attained new achievements, Don Quixote again winning recognition as an essential theoretical category in helping researchers in the literary world elaborate on the phenomenon of human spirit.

Characteristics of photosensitization of Pheophorbide a in liposomal media

Abstract: Pheophorbide a (PPa), a decomposition product of chlorophyll a, is a photosensitizer. The photosensitization mechanisms (Type I and Type 11) of PPa in simple buffer solutions and in buffer solutions containing double-layered DPPC liposomes have been studied using techniques of ESR, spin-trapping, spin-counteraction and laser flash photolysis. The results showed that adding DPPC liposomes to the buffer solution caused an increase of efficiency of generating1O2 and PPa-by photoactivating PPa. The increase could be ascribed to the disaggregation of hydrophobic PPa caused by the addition of liposomes and the protective effect of liposomal media on the triplet state of PPa. It is concluded that the photosensitization of PPa in liposomal systems is different from that in simple aqueous solutions, and shows higher efficacy. The results will be useful to elucidating the mechanisms of photodynamic therapy of cancer.
