On some trigonometric power sums
Hongwei Chen
International Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences , 2002, DOI: 10.1155/s0161171202007731
Abstract: Using the generating function method, the closed formulas for various power sums of trigonometric functions are established. The computer algebra system Maple is used to carry out the complex calculations.

Two Voices in Portraying Higgins in Pygmalion
Hongwei Chen
Theory and Practice in Language Studies , 2011, DOI: 10.4304/tpls.1.4.337-341
Abstract: Seen as a play in the stage of transition, Pygmalion marks Shaw’s returning from his “discussion plays” to his earlier writings of the popular romance in his anti-romantic Shavian treatment. Portraying Higgins both as a man of great tradition who is distinguished for his intellectual superiority and a big child who can never free himself from maternal ties, Bernard Shaw makes the play a romance in a sense that differs from the normal expectation of the genre as its subtitle suggests.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead: from Stage Script to Screen Presentation
Hongwei Chen
Journal of Language Teaching and Research , 2010, DOI: 10.4304/jltr.1.4.370-377
Abstract: Re-working on his reputation-establishing play in a new medium over the span of two decades after its first stage presentation, the film version of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (1991) demonstrates an extension as well as a variation of its original stage script, particularly in the aspect of Tom Stoppard’s responses to the classical text of Shakespeare. Although the image of Shakespeare’s dramatic text still haunts the story like a ghost, a carnival air of absurdity is added to the work, which makes Stoppard’s motif of Shakespeare more ambiguous.
No Man’s Land: a Variation on Harold Pinter’s Theme of “Menace”
Hongwei Chen
Journal of Language Teaching and Research , 2010, DOI: 10.4304/jltr.1.2.169-174
Abstract: Though being one of the representative works in the second phase of Pinter’s writing in the 1970s, No Man's Land is more an extension of than a departure from his early comedies of menace. To a certain degree, the central motif of the play is still a variation on the theme of territory fight explored in such plays as The Caretaker. What makes his play unique is that the major conflict is no longer a fight for the “room" in the sense of existential significance, but for a much more private “territory” of the innermost soul embodied by the past and memory.
Brownian motion of a charged test particle in vacuum between two conducting plates
Hongwei Yu,Jun Chen
Physics , 2004, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.70.125006
Abstract: The Brownian motion of a charged test particle caused by quantum electromagnetic vacuum fluctuations between two perfectly conducting plates is examined and the mean squared fluctuations in the velocity and position of the test particle are calculated. Our results show that the Brownian motion in the direction normal to the plates is reinforced in comparison to that in the single-plate case. The effective temperature associated with this normal Brownian motion could be three times as large as that in the single-plate case. However, the negative dispersions for the velocity and position in the longitudinal directions, which could be interpreted as reducing the quantum uncertainties of the particle, acquire positive corrections due to the presence of the second plate, and are thus weakened.
The Adjustment and Effects of Vocabulary Teaching Strategies in Flipped Classroom  [PDF]
Hongwei Zhang, Jie Li, Liping Jiao, Weilian Ma, Chen Guan
Creative Education (CE) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2016.714199
Abstract: The importance of vocabulary teaching is self-evident. Yet, the present English vocabulary teaching model is still far more traditional than modern because of the inadequacy of education revolution. The flipped classroom teaching model brings a new horizon to the field of vocabulary teaching. This paper takes the freshmen in the English department of a college in northern part of China as the main body of research analyzes the results of the experimental vocabulary teaching and gets the conclusion that the flipped classroom teaching model promotes English vocabulary teaching outcomes.
Performance Evaluation of the Thick Pinhole Gamma Rays Diagnostic System*  [PDF]
Hongwei Xie, Jinchuan Chen, Linbo Li, Qiang Yi
Journal of Analytical Sciences, Methods and Instrumentation (JASMI) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jasmi.2018.83003
Abstract: The diagnostic methods for the profile of the radiation source were estab-lished at first based on the pinhole imaging principle. In this paper, the relationships among various parameters of the gamma-rays crammer such as the modulation transfer function (MTF), the noise power spectrum (NPS), the signal-noise ratio (SNR) and the detective quantum efficiency (DQE) are developed and studied experimentally on the cobalt radiation source. The image diagnostic system is consisting with rays-fluorescence convertor (YAG crystal), optical imaging system, MCP image intensifier, CCD camera and other devices. The spatial resolution of the modulation transfer function (MTF) at 10% intensity was measured as 1 lp/mm by knife-edge method. The quantum of the measurement system is about 150 under weak radiation condition due to the single particle detection efficiency of the system. The dynamic range was inferred preliminarily as about 437. The required radiation intensity was calculated using the experiment result for the (SNR) = 1, 5, 10, respectively. The theoretical investigation results show that the radiation image with (SNR) = 1 can be only obtained when the pinhole diameter is 0.7 mm, object distance and image distance are both 200 cm, and the radiation intensity is about 1.0 × 1012 Sr-1·cm-2.
Incentive Mechanisms for P2P Network Nodes based on Repeated Game
Hongwei Chen,Hui Xu,Li Chen
Journal of Networks , 2012, DOI: 10.4304/jnw.7.2.385-392
Abstract: Considering the incentive mechanism of P2P network nodes, this paper analyzes the mechanism combined with the thought of repeated game. First, it respectively describes the modeling conditions and processes for the incentive mechanism of P2P nodes based on the supervision game and the P2P incentive mechanism for identification of node information. Then it performs the simulations for the strategy of two models by software, and the simulation result shows that these two kinds of models are both feasible. Finally, it analyzes and compares the advantages and disadvantages for the two kinds of models, and appropriate scenes for these two models as well.

Journal of Cancer Therapy (JCT) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jct.2013.45107

Background: Most of the reports on tumor relapse are recurrence of the same type of tumor after months to few years of a successful initial cancer treatment. It is generally unusual and unexpected that a different type of the second tumor occurs after several decades of the curative treatment of the original tumor. Case Presentation: We report a case of 74-year-old man with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) diagnosed 38 years after curative resection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In addition to the uniqueness of longer survival and developed a new type of tumor, both the original HCC and the later occurred ICC were detected through a cancer surveillance program by screening alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and ultrasonography of the liver for the general population and/or high risk group of people who were asymptomatic. Conclusion: This report provides evidence demonstrating occurrence of new type of tumor following initial curative therapy of the original tumor. In addition, this case report also highlights the importance of cancer surveillance program for earlier detection of the tumors to achieve a remarkably improved prognosis of the cancer patients for a prolonged cancer free survival time.
