Anti-Fatigue Properties of Tartary Buckwheat Extracts in Mice

Abstract: Anti-fatigue properties of tartary buckwheat extracts (TBE) was investigated in male Kunming mice. The animals were divided into four groups. The first group, designated as the control group (control), was administered with distilled water by gavage every day for 28 days. The other three groups, designated as TBE treatment groups, were administered with TBE of 60, 120 and 240 mg/kg body weight, respectively, by gavage every day for 28 days. Exhaustive swimming time, blood lactic acid (BLA), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), tissue glycogen, glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) of mice after swimming were determined. The results showed that tartary buckwheat extracts had anti-fatigue properties, which extended the exhaustive swimming time of mice, effectively inhibiting the increase of BLA, decreasing the level of BUN, increasing the tissue glycogen content and the activities of SOD and GPx of mice. However, further study is needed to elucidate the exact mechanism of the effect of TBE on fatigue.

Traditional Chinese Medicinal Syndromes and Treatment in Colorectal Cancer  [PDF]

Abstract: Colorectal cancer remains the third most common malignancy worldwide. According to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), colorectal cancer is related to spleen-deficiency, damp-heat, and toxicity accumulation. Traditional Chinese medicine has been confirmed to effectively reduce toxic side effects and enhance curative effects of chemotherapy, palliate clinical syndrome, prevent recurrence and metastasis, improve quality of life and immune function, and prolong survival time in colorectal cancer. However, TCM theoretical and syndrome differentiation study has lagged far behind due to progression of therapy model in colorectal cancer. As a type of drug treatment, there are some common biological basis between chemotherapy, targeted therapy and anti-cancer herb therapy in colorectal cancer, such as apoptosis, cell senescence and autophagy. There are growing needs to explore the effect mechanism and compatibility of anti-cancer herbs, to further enhance the efficacy of TCM treatment in colorectal cancer.
Influence of Tartary Buckwheat Extracts Supplementation on Oxidative Stress Induced by Acute Exhaustive Exercise in Rats

Abstract: Tartary Buckwheat Extracts (TBE) has been reported to be a potential antioxidant that may affect health and exercise performance. The objective of this study was to examine the effects of TBE supplementation on oxidative stress induced by acute exhaustive exercise in rats. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups, each consisting of ten rats. The first group designated as control group was administered with distilled water by gavage every day for 28 days. The other three groups designated as TBE supplementation groups were administered with TBE of 60, 120 and 240 mg kg-1 body weight (b.wt.), respectively, by gavage every day for 28 days. After acute exhaustive exercise, the antioxidant enzyme activities and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were determined. The data showed that TBE at the dose 60, 120 and 240 mg kg-1 b.wt. increased Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD) activities in liver tissue of rats significantly by 28.13, 34.65 and 45.95%, respectively, increased catalase (CAT) activities significantly by 29.49, 41.63 and 59.30%, respectively and decreased MDA levels significantly by 31.21, 51.12 and 45.68%, respectively. TBE at the dose 120 and 240 mg kg-1 b.wt. increased glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activities significantly by 21.33 and 28.22%, respectively. TBE at the dose 240 mg kg-1 b.wt. increased Glutathione Reductase (GR) activities significantly by 31.58%. These results suggested that TBE supplementation has a protective effect on oxidative stress induced by acute exhaustive exercise.

Abstract: 采用巢式样方法,对塔里木河下游两个断面6条样带38块64 m×64 m样地进行调查,选用线性和非线性种-面积模型,对调查区不同比例因子植物调查最小取样面积、最小取样面积与不同地下水条件的关系进行了分析。根据种-面积曲线的最优模型,当比例因子取值包括群落50%、60%、70%、80%和90%的植物种类时,最小调查样地面积分别为418 m2、707 m2、1138 m2、1702 m2和2656 m2;随着离河距离增加,物种数减少,植物的生长势降低。当比例因子取值包括群落50%植物种类、地下水埋深由离河50 m的1.57 m到离河1500 m的7.53 m变化时,离河不同距离各级最小取样面积变化较大,地下水条件是植物种类调查最小取样面积变化的关键因素。
Preparation and PEGylation of Recombinant Human Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor Mutant

Abstract: Human ciliary neurotrophic factor( CNTF) is a neurotrophic factor (NTF) not included in NTF family. Recently body weight loss affect of CNTF was discovered in many studies, but clinical application has been limited as immunogenicity. Prepared ciliary neurotrophic factor mutant (CNTFm) with prokaryotic expression and analyzed effect on weight reduction. Chemical synthesis DNA of CNTFm, in which polypeptide is truncated 15aa at C-terminus. The DNA is subcloned in temperature and induced vetor pBV220, then the recombinant plasmid is transformed in E. coli BL21 and recombination protein expression is induced by culture at 42 ℃.The recombination protein is purified with ion exchange chromatography. The normal mice' weight boss tests are used for activity analysis. The expressed level of the CNTFm can reach over 40% of the total bacteria protein and exist in a form of inclusion body. After denaturing, refolding and purifying by Q Sepharose-FF, the purity of final product is more than 95%. Activity analysis indicates that the mutant protein obviously reduces body weight of tested mouse, maximal slip of body weight to reach 31.23% with administration 10 days, but the antibody levels induced by the CNTFm are significantly higher. CNTFm is modified by methyl polyethylene glycol succinimidyl propionate(mPEG-SPA). Compared with unmodified CNTFm, the pEG-CNTFm has 66% biologic activity of unmodified CNTFm in vivo, but it has significantly decreased the immunogenicity.

Empirical Analysis of Interactive Control’s Effectiveness: A Parent-Subsidiary Company’s Interdependence Perspective  [PDF]

Abstract: Due to the increasingly complex business environment and the principal-agent relationship, the enterprise group should establish a control system to prevent agency risk. Besides traditional system control, the parent company tends to adopt an interactive control including decentralized decision making, process communication and target incentive to guide and govern the subsidiaries. As an elastic control mechanism, the interactive control’s effectiveness could be influenced by the resources dependence relationship which is objective existence between the parent and subsidiary company. Based on the classical literature review, this study analyzes the effects of interaction control to the performance (“interactive control → performance”) and the interdependence’s regulating role by a total sample and a multiple-group structural equation analysis based on Chinese groups’ data, the results show that the interactive control could improve the subsidiaries’ performance, but different control process has its particular applicable interdependence situation. In the conclusions, we proposed some suggestions to promote the interactive control’s effectiveness in the enterprise group’s management practices.

Abstract: The urban thermal distribution characteristics and its variation are dynamically monitored and synthetically analyzed by using GIS technology. The meteorological satellite data serve as main information source, assisted as auxiliary information sources by the landsat satellite TM data, land use thematic maps and meteorological observed data. A correlated pattern on the ground surface brightness temperatures and air temperatures has been studied and established with good performance of application.
